Chapter 114 The Adventure (Part 2)

I suddenly felt fortunate because I had made predictions and preparations in advance, allowing Hikari, who was not strong enough to fight, to retreat to a safe place.

The knight statue's attacks were exceptionally swift and powerful, far exceeding expectations.

It was as if we were facing a giant with agile skills, rather than a heavy and huge stone statue. Even Miyuki, who originally planned to rush forward during the gap in the statue's attack, was startled by the horizontal slash. She blocked the attack with her sword and quickly used the momentum to retreat and dissipate the force, barely avoiding injury.

However, this is nothing to [Frost Sword], who is devoted to swords and fighting.

Even though she was briefly forced to retreat, Miyuki did not show the slightest hesitation or fear. Instead, she showed a joyful expression, stomped her foot on the ground, and charged straight toward her target at an even faster speed than before.

As if it were alive, the frost-white color that grew on its own covered all the nearby cave walls, leaving no place untouched by a thick layer of frost. Even the cave's permanent insulating barrier seemed to lose its effectiveness in that brief moment, or as if the cold air from the outside had violently invaded the cave, leaving only the crystalline ice crystals to grow freely.

It is no longer possible to observe the battle between Miyuki and the Knight Statue with the naked eye.

In the blink of an eye, the frost-white sword mark and the gray greatsword clashed dozens of times, and the afterimages and remaining sword marks left by their violent movements could be seen everywhere.

The air, torn apart, howled uneasily, and a fierce, icy wind swept past me, instantly carrying away the swirling fragments of stone.

It took me a while to realize the dull pain emanating from my cheek—a cut from a sharp pebble. Bright red blood oozed out without my permission, leaving a dark red shadow in my peripheral vision. Fortunately, it didn't obstruct my vision, so it wouldn't affect my spellcasting for now.

Of course, I couldn't just stand still while my comrades were fighting.

Although it may not be of much help, the necessary harassment is still meaningful.

Lightning and fire intertwined, arrows and sword marks clashed, and the earth attribute, manipulated by elemental stones, though largely useless, forced the knight statue to reduce its offensive intent and focus on defense.

With the aid of perception, there was no need to worry about my attacks hitting Miyuki. I could focus on probing the knight statue's potential weaknesses while minimizing the pressure on Miyuki. Miyuki, responsible for direct control, also maintained a good rhythm in the battle, not only drawing the knight statue's main attention away but also creating openings to further weaken its sustained combat power.

However, as if it had read our thoughts, the knight statue's protection of its head and chest was virtually impenetrable. Several times, attacks that barely managed to reach it were met with even fiercer counterattacks from the statue, forcing Miyuki to abandon her offensive and retreat to defense.

As for the spells cast, that goes without saying.

The greatsword with its broad, thick blade acted like a true shield, barely managing to deflect several tricky angles, leaving only one or two dents. The few penetrating wounds were inflicted by a reduced-power version of the Arrow of Hope, but they were quickly healed by the magic flowing from its core.

Even the debris left behind from the sword fights that cut through the cave walls was put to use. The debris was stomped on repeatedly, raising dust and pebbles to obstruct vision and interfere with spellcasting.

Having witnessed firsthand the sandstorm penetrating the protective barrier, I dared not be careless at all—if I hadn't instinctively dodged, I would probably have been in trouble long ago—so I could only barely dodge or deflect the attack, otherwise I would probably have been in serious trouble the next second.

Two soft beams of light descended from above, spreading a warm, comforting sensation throughout the body.

Hikari provided the healing from the rear.

The clear and ethereal singing greatly soothed the anxiety that had been building up in my heart as the battle dragged on. The small wounds stopped bleeding and scabbed over, and the magic power being drawn from my body showed signs of accelerating its recovery.

Another clash ensued. Shen Xue, who had fallen from mid-air, flipped over, her long sword plunging into the cave wall. She was forced back three or four meters before she could barely dissipate the force of the blow.

Shaking her long hair, which had somehow become loose, she took a deep breath, stood up again, frowned, and looked at the knight statue that was also standing in place, raising its greatsword and constantly accumulating magic power: "This guy is too tough. Several attacks that I thought could break through his defenses failed to leave any marks, and I was even almost hit twice."

I agree with you.

I nodded, unleashing a barrage of lightning bolts from hundreds of tree branches, then glanced at her again: "Are you alright? Do you have enough stamina? Or should I take over and hold her off?"

"No need. Of course we can continue!"

With this declaration, Miyuki once again charged towards the knight statue.

However, compared to before, she seemed to have changed her moves, abandoning her previous rapid movement and changes of tactics in favor of more powerful offensive slashes, standing still and exchanging sword blows with the knight statue several times.

Another roar erupted between the two, but Miyuki kept her feet firmly planted on the ground, standing rooted to the spot, trying to use herself as a conduit to deflect all the impact she was experiencing.

The stone wall beneath her feet could not withstand the immense force in an instant, cracking repeatedly with a crisp sound, creating wave after wave of ripples. Spiderweb-like cracks spread outward from her center, causing a strong resonance throughout the hollowed-out mountain.

If it weren't for the repeated, pristine frost covering her feet, after a few more sword strikes, Miyuki would probably have been slammed straight down into the stone pit, just like she is now.
