I just wanted to have a pleasant time slacking off, but why do beautiful girls always want to disturb my leisurely daily life?
Also known as: "What to do when the apocalypse arrives? Fall...
The person who came was not Adrian.
Amidst the chaos, this is the only thing that is clearly known.
The dark robe that reached the ground concealed the newcomer's footsteps. The stride he could roughly estimate was different from that of Adrian, whom he had seen several times before. It seemed that the pendant he was wearing was swaying with his movements, making a crisp clinking sound.
As if he were the owner of the place, the visitor strolled around the house and headed confidently toward the direction where he had previously confirmed there was another space.
The crisis is gripping my heart, appearing and disappearing intermittently, lingering relentlessly.
I gestured to An, asking if she could move to a position where I could see the other person's face clearly, or if we could just slip out from here, but An shook her head and refused, covering my mouth and nose with one hand.
That guy is dangerous; we'd better not make any rash moves.
This is Alice's handwriting on my palm.
When it jumped down in a hurry, it didn't find the right landing spot. Now it's clinging to my shoulder and tugging at my clothes, as if it's afraid it might fall off my shoulder if I'm not careful.
The cat, which had snuggled into my arms, peeked around and then quickly withdrew, its head's vibrant colors dimming considerably, as if it were actively trying to conceal its presence.
Silence enveloped the shadow space.
In the silence brought by holding one's breath, only the senses quietly expand along the ground.
Without moving the carpet, the newcomer paused briefly in front of the barrier. It was unclear what he did, but a slight fluctuation of magic flashed by, followed by ripples on the wall that spread to every part of the wall imbued with illusion.
Once again, the room in front of me has changed.
If it weren't for the fact that the two rooms already shared some similar layouts, we, hidden in the shadows, would probably have been exposed by now. With that thought in mind, An and I sank a little deeper, peering out through the gaps along the edges.
The Shadow Space was, after all, a temporary space—narrow and dimly lit—but thankfully, there were no other unbearable places. After indicating to An that she would stay quietly, she quietly released her left hand from my mouth and nose, stepped back a little, and carefully looked around, seemingly preparing for her escape.
Since the change in the indoor environment, the newcomer had been walking straight in the direction where the map had been confirmed to exist. However, halfway there, he seemed to have discovered something, let out a soft exclamation, and paused slightly.
"...A mouse has come in."
A young male voice.
Deep and cold, with a chilling quality, like the smoke rising from a dying campfire, lingering even as it's about to go out, leaving behind only the acrid smell of smoke and a pile of embers that would spark at the slightest touch.
I have absolutely no idea where the other party noticed the flaw.
I glanced sideways at Alice. The rascal gently shook its long ears, indicating that everything that had been moved had been put back in its place, and that it was careful not to leave any clues.
"Could it be that you noticed the magical fluctuations here?" An also shook his head, indicating that this was a separate space, and as long as the entrance was not moved, no one would notice anything unusual.
"Don't play dumb, I know you're still here. Come out."
The young male voice was still ringing out, and the sound of fading footsteps echoed back and forth in the room. Occasionally, the sound of wardrobes and closet doors opening could be heard, as if checking whether someone was hiding inside.
It seems he really didn't find our hiding place.
This discovery relieved me, but then I immediately tensed up for another reason.
The danger has not gone away.
As time went on and the approaching figure drew closer, the opening and closing of the door became increasingly agitated, producing loud noises. There were even a few sounds of wooden items being torn off and tossed aside, hitting fragile objects.
Judging from this trend, he will eventually find us under the bed and then drag us out where we have nowhere to hide.
However, what's worse is that, perhaps feeling this was too inefficient, the person suddenly stopped in the center of the room, right where the carpet was, and clapped their hands three times—
A chill ran down my spine in an instant.
An ominous sound of boiling liquid echoed around them.
Through the thin gap between the bed board and the ground, one can clearly see a thick, gel-like substance falling from above, forming a specific shape out of thin air within the constraints of the dark magic circle.
There wasn't just one clump of this substance, but no fewer than five clumps, and the number was increasing with each high-five!
The cane fell suddenly, and the light and shadow, like stardust, flashed and disappeared in the surroundings.
Before I could react properly, I felt a sudden tightness on the back of my neck, and a dark color flashed past my eyes.
The slender blade pierced through the spot where I had been standing.
Suddenly detached from the shadow space, Alice, completely unprepared, fell off my shoulder and rolled right between my outstretched arms. The cat shook its head vigorously, leaped onto my shoulder, growled, and bristled.
I quickly glanced at the doorway; a somber gray color sealed off the original entrance, as if connecting to the depths of the void, or leading to the dark, lightless extreme of the universe.
"Ah, so that's where it was hidden."
The gloomy-faced man scanned us, letting out a strange laugh: "I didn't expect it wasn't just one rat, but three of them."
He seemed to want to say something; his prominent cheekbones twitched, then he suddenly fell silent, only chuckling strangely and starting to beat the rhythm again.
The sounds of swaying and falling were chaotic yet orderly, and the dangling objects, like stars, swayed on the dark robe, shimmering with different lusters. The gel-like substance stopped increasing, but after deforming, it revealed the same face and then rushed towards this side.
