Chapter 135 Atonement Through Merit

Li Ke sat in the warm room, having changed into comfortable loungewear provided by Tanaka, and relaxed completely as she sat opposite him: "What do you mean by the new world you're talking about? It can't be that stupid thing that was rumored before, the US digging for a second world, can it?"

When Tanaka heard Li Ke's question, his expression changed, as if Li Ke's ignorant words had suddenly boosted his sense of superiority.

He laughed with pride and contempt: "Only ignorant people like you would think that way. If you live to the end, you will eventually see the new face it brings to the world."

Li Ke, however, felt that Tanaka was like one of those madmen who had joined a cult, beyond redemption.

"As far as I know, your motherland no longer exists. You are a homeless rat hiding here, digging a hole. To be honest, I haven't seen any strength from you. So your so-called new world of the future is like a vague dream, which means nothing to me."

“Miss Li, please watch your words. I am treating you with sincerity and courtesy, so please at least maintain the manners expected of a guest.” Tanaka’s smile vanished.

Li Ke suddenly laughed: "Oh, I'm used to being at ease in my own home. I thought you were used to being treated like this too, after all, you've been following the US around for so long."

Tanaka's expression grew colder and colder. Li Ke stopped trying to provoke him and instead asked, "Where are the people from the dealer's side? I still trust them more. After all, those things were originally placed there by the dealer. Your one-sided story is not enough to convince me to surrender."

Tanaka sneered, "The bookmaker is nothing but a dog we drive around. Your judgment isn't very good."

Li Ke sensed Tanaka's disdain for the dealer and suddenly had a flash of inspiration: "Are you two fighting like dogs? Could it be that the person who tried to stop me earlier was sent by the dealer?"

The man next to Tanaka saw the anger rising on the boss's face and raised his pistol to aim at Li Ke. Li Ke reacted faster than him, shooting the man's wrist with a small metal fork used for eating fruit and pastries on the table.

The opponent's pistol fell to the ground. Seeing their comrade wounded, Tanaka's four guards also raised their guns and aimed them at Li Ke. Li Ke pointed his gun at Tanaka first: "Do you think my gun is faster, or your men's guns?"

Tanaka roared, "Put down your gun! Don't be rude to my guest!"

After the other party put away his gun, Li Ke also put away his own gun and made a request to Tanaka: "I need to see the Zhuang family. Only when you are all together will you have any weight to me."

Tanaka gritted his teeth and agreed to Li Ke's conditions, but set the date for tomorrow, to which Li Ke had no objection.

Tanaka arranged for someone to lead Li Ke to rest first, while he sat in the same spot for a while. He had actually lied to Li Ke.

If their reserves hadn't been lost, he would indeed have been the future head of the Tanaka family, but that was before. Now he has been stripped of his rights, and the current head is his uncle.

If it weren't for his father and brother's protection, he would have been forced by his family to commit seppuku to atone for his sins long ago.

His family pleaded with the clan to give him a chance to redeem himself, and they gave him some people and supplies, but these were his own belongings, and there wasn't much of them.

That's why he wanted to be tightly tied to the bookmaker. The US and R wanted the bookmaker to return to China to cause trouble. He and the bookmaker were at odds, so they could keep an eye on each other. The higher-ups thought this combination was very suitable.

However, Tanaka now lacks the support of a powerful family, making things less smooth for him compared to the Zhuang family.

For example, right now, Tanaka knows that the Zhuang family has definitely more information than he has, and they are also closer to the Qin family, but he has already broken ties with the Zhuang family, and the Zhuang family will no longer share information with him.

He made the first move against Li Ke to see how the bookmaker would react. Now it seems that Li Ke is indeed a big problem, otherwise the bookmaker wouldn't have reacted so strongly and kept trying to meet with him.

Before meeting Zhuang Yihao, the cautious Tanaka still sent out a message: Li Ke was the key figure in the theft of the reserve fund. Along with the message, a short video of his conversation with Li Ke was also sent out.

For the past few hours, Zhuang Yihao has been sending people to contact Tanaka, requesting a meeting to discuss the matter in detail, but that madman Tanaka has completely ignored his people.

Zhuang Yihao was ready to go all out against Tanaka, but suddenly received a reply from Tanaka agreeing to meet.

Zhuang Yihao looked at the person who had returned to report the news and asked, "Did you see Tanaka? Do you know why he suddenly agreed to meet?"

The subordinate shook his head: "We haven't seen Tanaka yet. His men came out and found the people guarding outside, and asked to see you, boss."

Zhuang Yihao couldn't figure out why Tanaka had suddenly changed his mind. He frowned and pondered. Zhuang Weifeng spoke up from the side, "Is it because Li Ke isn't cooperating? Or does Li Ke not have any useful information and wants to cooperate with us again?"

Zhuang Yihao took a deep breath: "No matter what the reason, I have to see him. I can't let him continue to mess around like this."

“Uncle, I’ll go with you,” Zhuang Weifeng said, standing up.

Zhuang Yihao waved his hand: "Go back to the Qin family and guard our things. If the Qin family makes any more trouble while we're gone, it will be even more complicated."

Zhuang Weifeng knew his uncle was right, and he said with concern, "Then you should bring more people. This Tanaka is like a mad dog now, and I'm afraid he might do something to you."

Zhuang Yihao nodded; that was his plan too. Zhuang Weifeng added, "I'll leave Li Meng to you. If Li Ke really knows something and doesn't cooperate, then we'll bring that woman out."
