This is an independent female protagonist story. It involves rebirth, spatial abilities, hoarding supplies, post-apocalyptic survival, and occasional team-ups.
Disasters include earthquakes, ...
Actually, when Li Ke left the Zhang family, he untied Aunt Mei so that she could clean up Zhang Tao's mess after she woke up.
As a result, Aunt Mei's physical and mental condition was probably too poor, and she did not wake up even after Li Ke had been gone for half an hour.
Zhang Tao stood trembling against the wardrobe for a long time, and after a while, when he heard no sound, he finally mustered up his courage and used his now free left hand to pull off the clothes covering his head.
The bedroom door was wide open, and the dim light from the courtyard illuminated the entrance. Zhang Tao stared at the doorway, not daring to move, fearing that the assassin might suddenly reappear there.
After a while, Zhang Tao, his face covered in tears and snot, pulled out a wad of cloth stuffed in his mouth and whispered, "Wife, wife? Where are you?"
His face remained pressed against the wardrobe, facing the door, unable to look away. His right hand was nailed to the wardrobe, his heart aching.
After calling out several times without receiving a response, Zhang Tao grew bolder and began to search for his wife. When he saw her lying on the ground, he called out twice more, but she still didn't move.
Zhang Tao didn't know if his wife was dead or alive. If she was dead, the thought of a dead person lying next to him, even if it was his wife, terrified him.
Zhang Tao couldn't wake his wife. He was scared and his hand hurt. He sobbed softly for a while before finally pulling the knife off the wardrobe.
With that movement, the knife was rubbed against his palm again, and Zhang Tao broke out in a cold sweat from the pain. He gritted his teeth, staggered back two steps, and sat down on the chair in front of the bed where the clothes were placed.
It was this action that caused him to accidentally step on Aunt Mei's hand on the ground, which woke her up in pain.
Aunt Mei woke up with a groan. All she could see was complete darkness. Her entire neck felt numb, her head was spinning and she felt nauseous. Her fingers were numb and painful, and she felt terrible all over.
"Wife, wife, you're awake! Get up quickly!" Zhang Tao felt relieved when he saw his wife make a sound and move her body. He used his still weak legs to kick the person on the ground, wanting her to get up and help him quickly.
Hearing her husband's voice, Aunt Mei seemed to regain her senses and remember what had happened at home. She carefully reached for the covering on her head while whispering to her husband, "Old Zhang, is that person gone? Are we safe?"
Hearing his wife's response, Zhang Tao became bolder. His face was pale, and he gripped his right wrist with his left hand, saying, "She must be gone. Honey, hurry up, I'm in so much pain. Get up and get ready to take me to the hospital."
Aunt Mei had already taken off her clothes. Although the lights were off in the room, she adjusted her eyes for a moment and still saw her husband sitting in the chair.
Aunt Mei rubbed her head and slowly sat up. Her body was still weak and limp.
"Old Zhang, I have a terrible headache and I'm too weak to get up. Turn on the light first, find my phone and let's call someone to take us to the hospital," Aunt Mei said weakly.
Zhang Tao grinned and said, "The power's out, the lights won't turn on, and we can't find our phones. My hand is injured. Can you use your strength to get up and find a flashlight? We can only rely on ourselves right now."
Aunt Mei cried as she crawled toward the TV cabinet to find a flashlight, sobbing, "My God, what sins have I committed? I've lived most of my life and now this terrible thing has happened! Old Zhang, I hate you so much!"
Aunt Mei remembered what the assassin had said: "Old Zhang, that scoundrel, gets horny every time he sees a woman. He's getting more and more shameless as he gets older." Aunt Mei had gotten used to it. As long as the family had money, she couldn't possibly get a divorce at her age.
Who would have thought that this damned woman had messed with the wrong person? Her husband came in the middle of the night with a knife to settle the score, and the two of them almost ended up meeting their maker.
"Alright, keep your voice down. Who knows if they've gone far? If we alert the neighbors and they call the police, we'll really be in danger!" Old Zhang quickly stopped his wife as she grew louder.
Startled by her husband's words, Aunt Mei quickly covered her mouth and, after a while, fumbled to turn on the flashlight, finally illuminating the room.
Aunt Mei remained slumped for a while before standing up and walking towards her husband. When she saw a knife stuck in his hand, she was startled, but not so worried. Instead, she felt he deserved it and secretly felt a little relieved and gloating.
Her gaze shifted again, and she saw the double bed that had been moved far away from the wall, and the empty hole in the floor beneath it. Aunt Mei couldn't help but cry out in pain once more, "Ah—our family's money!"
Old Zhang glared at her angrily. He had been sitting there for quite a while and had already seen everything: "Keep your voice down. You're still alive. That little bit of money is nothing!"
"You shameless old man, it's all your fault! You still want that little bit of money! That's over 1.3 million in cash and 2.4 million in gold!" Aunt Mei angrily punched Zhang Tao.
Zhang Tao moved his right hand and gasped in pain: "Stop messing around! Quickly find me a clean set of underwear and pants to change into. Grab my ID card and bank card, let's go to the hospital first. If we delay any longer, I'll bleed to death!"
Zhang Tao grabbed a pack of tissues and roughly wrapped his right hand with layer upon layer of tissues. Blood was still flowing, so he grabbed a piece of clothing and wrapped it under his hand. After all this, his face grew increasingly pale, and he complained to himself that his wife was useless and slow. If he had injured a major artery, he would be dead by now.
