To recover his memory and life, Xu Keke enters various eras to start a counterattack journey to demand justice for the resentful side characters of era novels.
Rehabilitation is non-existent,...
Qi Chang came out of the house. Bed sheets were hanging to dry in the middle of the yard, and the washbasins on the ground had already been put away. There was only a large area of wet ground.
Meng Jia and Gao Jiaqing must have been playing at Gao's house, because you could hear laughter coming from inside.
Qi Chang entered the Meng family's house without knocking.
Meng Dong was tidying up the clothes in the closet. There was an open bundle on the bed, and Qi Chang couldn't tell whether she was putting it in or taking it out of the closet.
"What are you doing?" Qi Chang remained silent for a long time. It seemed that the little girl was going to ignore him today, so he could only touch his nose and take the initiative to ask.
"How much can you remember, or can you remember everything?" Xu Keke took a stack of clothes out of the closet and put them on the bed.
Qi Chang understood this seemingly random sentence.
He walked to the bedside and sat on the other side of the bed, with the open bundle between them.
"It's not that I remembered it, it's that I dreamed about it. You know what happened in the dream, but sometimes it's quite blurry. It's fragmented. How did you know? I know."
If an outsider were listening now, they would definitely be confused. But these two people can both understand what the other is saying.
"At first, I didn't know, but later at your house, you were acting so strangely. I'm only sixteen, but the way you looked at me made me guess."
"Then how did you recognize me?"
Xu Keke glanced at him sideways, "Of course I know, I can tell at a glance."
Qi Chang smiled, a hint of smugness in his eyes. "So, you called me 'brother' the first time you met me."
"Otherwise what? Someone so old is a generation older than me, what kind of nonsense is that?"
Qi Chang threw the bundle onto the bed and pulled the person to his side, saying, "Since you already know, how dare you go on a blind date?"
"What do you mean I dare to go on blind dates? You already have a fiancée."
Qi Chang hugged Xu Keke and laughed, "I finally figured out why you weren't paying attention to me. That's when I realized you actually knew who I was. But why would Manager Lin let you go on a blind date? Considering your current status and age, isn't it a bit too young?"
Xu Keke briefly recounted the events of that day to him. Qi Chang frowned more and more as he listened. "You too, you were blackmailed by them. If you have nowhere to live, just open my door and move in."
"That's what I was planning to do, Uncle Qi. If you weren't coming back, I was thinking of moving in tonight. You see?"
Xu Keke pointed to the cabinet, and Qi Chang then saw that there were already several bundles inside.
“I’ve prepared everything. Meng Zikang was transferred a long time ago, and Manager Lin has been delaying it for several days. The stationery store is coming to take back the apartment tomorrow. Manager Lin wants to see if I go to the stationery store. If I do, they won’t take back the apartment. It has nothing to do with the blind date.”
Qi Chang gave a disapproving sneer and didn't respond to her words.
“If you don’t want to live here, I have another house here, it’s just a bit far from where you go to school.”
Xu Keke understood what he meant. They were actually more than ten years apart in age. Even though Manager Lin had introduced them, Meng Dong had indeed married at seventeen in his previous life. But if they really went public with their relationship, they probably wouldn't be able to live comfortably in this hospital.
What if you move out first?
Qi Chang glanced at her sideways and said, "This has always been your plan, hasn't it?"
Xu Keke smiled maliciously. That was exactly what she had planned from the beginning. With Qi Chang's connections in this society, he could definitely find a place to stay much more easily than she could.
"Since it's only for one year, I want to apply to Xinjiang Normal University and take Mengjia with me to Xinjiang."
Qi Chang's eyes lit up. Actually, he was supposed to have left with his parents this time, otherwise he wouldn't have been transferred to a local job so early. It was because his father had received a hint from above that his job would change in the next two years.
Qi Chang gave Xu Keke a quick kiss on the cheek. "You're so smart."
"Sister!" Upon hearing Meng Jia's voice outside the door, Qi Chang hurriedly let go of her hand and immediately jumped up.
Xiao Mengjia pushed open the door, paused for a moment when she saw Qi Chang, and then excitedly shouted, "Sister! Sister! Jiaqing's aunt is here."
Qi Chang looked at Xu Keke questioningly with his eyes.
Xu Keke ignored him and jumped out of bed, mimicking his actions. Smiling, she took Meng Jia's hand and prepared to leave.
"Where is Brother Xiao Jie?"
"He's at Brother Qi's house, studying while pulling his hair."
Xu Keke stood at the door without leaving, looking at Meng Jia with a puzzled expression. "What do you mean by 'studying by pulling your hair'? Like hanging your head from a beam?"
“No,” Xiao Mengjia imitated Wei Jie’s actions, pulling out handfuls of her hair while sighing, “Sigh! Sigh!”
Xu Keke looked at Qi Chang standing in the room, "What does this mean?"
Qi Chang scratched his head. "Where's your physics book? It's for the first year of high school. I can use it. I'll let him study 'Statically Indeterminate Structures' on his own there."
"What?" Xu Keke frowned. "What is this?"
"It's nothing," Qi Chang said with a slightly embarrassed smile. "Could you lend me your physics book? He wants to learn about mechanics. I told him I'd find him a book."
They had already lived through several lifetimes together, so Xu Keke knew his temperament perfectly well. She pulled out Meng Dong's first-year high school physics textbook from the original body and threw it at him. "You're so childish!"
The three of them went out of the house. Xu Keke brought Meng Jia to Qi Chang's room first. Gao Jiaqing was leaning on the table, staring at him.
Seeing them enter, Wei Jie hurriedly sat up straight, looking like a primary school student meeting the headmaster. Xu Keke was somewhat amused and exasperated; she had thought he was quite mature and reliable when they were chatting just moments before. He'd only been in Qi Chang's house for a short time, and he'd already become so childish.
