"Xiao Qi, are there any living creatures in the sea? How far is this island from the mainland?"

The system remained silent, and Xiang Wan knew the answer.

Everything is unknown and awaits her exploration. Relying solely on the system is not omnipotent. Or rather, its capabilities are limited; it can only detect what is immediately imminent.

It's more like a reef than an island. It's no more than 20 meters in circumference, and its highest point is less than 3 meters above sea level. A single tide could probably completely submerge it.

Xiang Wan wondered if this scene of the sea and sky merging into one might have the same ebb and flow, day and night, as normal seawater.

The sky was clear, cloudless, and without the sun. It wasn't exactly overcast; it was as if the entire sky was a single, luminous panel, all the same color.

The wind picked up, and the seawater, whipped up by the wind, licked the rocks, making a rhythmic splashing sound at the crevices.

"Xiao Qi, I have a question for you." Xiang Wan sat at the highest point of the reef, gazing into the distance. "Do you think, if I can't go back, will he still wake up?"

"Xiang Wan, do you want to hear the truth?" The system didn't know how to answer for a moment. The host in front of it seemed to be brewing some kind of emotion, so it had to be very careful. "There have been many cases of people in a vegetative state waking up. Some have memories, and some have become completely different people. From the moment Xiang Wan entered the water, the system stopped making any noises, lest it disturb her thoughts and cause her to drown. That would be a terrible sin.

Xiang Wan had entrusted it with the role of eyes, so it had to do its utmost. Although it didn't know what its host was trying to do by swimming downstream, it hoped that Xiang Wan's decision was right. Finding an exit would be the best outcome.

The deeper she went, the greater the water pressure became. Xiang Wan could already feel a slight burning sensation in her lungs, and the buoyancy of the seawater made her descent as slow as a snail's pace. Finally, under the system's guidance, Xiang Wan grabbed a loose rock and held on tightly, saving a lot of energy as she sank with it.

Although she cannot cultivate internal energy, holding her breath has become an instinct for Xiang Wan. Compared to ordinary people, she can stay in the water for at least ten minutes, provided she doesn't expend physical energy.

The depth of the sea is unknown, but a reef that suddenly appears in the ocean must have something to rely on. It must either be connected to the mainland or float entirely on the sea. Xiang Wan wanted to know what was supporting this reef.

One hundred meters... two hundred meters... two hundred and fifty meters...

"Xiang Wan, can you hold on?"

The system was getting anxious. The host was in poor condition, suffering from exhaustion and lack of oxygen, and might not be able to hold on until the end.

Before even reaching the finish line, Xiang Wan was already on the verge of giving up.

Blood was seeping from her ears, and the water pressure made her feel like her body was falling apart, leaving her with no strength at all.

"Hang in there, don't die like this. Let's float up, at worst we can wait on the rocks for the next scene, okay?"

The system panicked, watching helplessly as Xiang Wan convulsed little by little, unable to do anything about it.

"Little Seven, lend me your energy!"

"good!"

Without saying a word, the system inputted energy into Xiang Wan's mind.

At this point, it doesn't care about anything else. As long as the host is alright, it doesn't matter if it falls into a deep sleep.

A cool sensation washed over her, instantly waking Xiang Wan from her drowsy state. The water pressure was still there, but it could no longer exert a fatal pressure on her.

"That's enough, Xiao Qi, thank you."

"Haha, you're welcome. We're buddies, aren't we?"

The system feigned nonchalance, even though its inventory had dwindled by more than half, at least it was being used for the right purposes.

Hidden in the darkness, Xiang Wan smiled: her guess was right; this sea and this reef could not be explained by common sense.

After diving several dozen meters again, Xiang Wan suddenly threw away the rock in her hand, and then her whole body began to float upward.

Ascending is much easier than diving; the only thing to worry about is the potential harm to the body from a sudden drop in water pressure.
