A certain woman, for some inexplicable reason, became bound to an arrogant and deceptive system. She transmigrates into the bodies of cannon fodder characters in various worlds, fulfilling their wi...
"Wipe it off, so it won't look too good when you go out later."
Against the backdrop of the pristine white tissue, the bright red nail polish appeared as if it had just been soaked in blood.
The owner of the nails casually pulled Xiang Wan to sit down on the other side, while she leaned over herself and shoved the tissue she was holding directly into Lou Junxuan's hand.
The farce ended hastily with Cui Shiwan's intervention, but Xiang Wan knew that this was not enough, far from enough.
“Miss Wan, as I have said, during my working hours, I do not entertain anyone other than you, including him.”
Xiang Wan picked up the snack bag without hesitation and stuffed it into her mouth with elegant yet extremely fast movements.
If we don't take this opportunity to eat our fill, we'll really be letting down his hard-working performance.
Lou Junxuan was focused on wiping the wine stains off his cheeks and clothes when he heard this. He crumpled up a paper towel that was soaked with wine stains and threw it at Xiang Wan.
Even with one person in between, it couldn't stop Lou Junxuan from wanting to teach Xiang Wan a lesson.
Xiang Wan turned her head away, glanced at him, and ignored him.
"Your friend, please keep a close eye on things, otherwise I have the right to refuse to continue our cooperation."
Cui Shiwan was furious inside, but she had to pretend to be in a difficult position and advised, "We are all friends. It is fate that we can sit together. Why be so petty?"
She glanced at Lou Junxuan's expression and continued, "Besides, didn't you have a pleasant chat with Mr. Owen just now?"
“That’s different.” Xiang Wan chewed twice, swallowed, and said, “Mr. Owen is clearly a very cultured and respectful elder. I would be happy to have such a friend.”
“Besides,” Xiang Wan smiled at Cui Shiwan and said sincerely, “you spent a lot of money to have me appear at the right place at the right time, wasn’t it all for Mr. Owen? Now, someone who comes uninvited, does that count too?”
Cui Shiwan started to feel the pinch again. She sent a luxury car away, only to be told to conduct a reinvestigation. Did she think everyone could be as nonchalant as the world's richest man?
Besides, they're clearly two brothers. Why are they pretending to be big shots and not getting along in front of her? They're just trying to fool her!
"Kevin, Mr. Lou came in under your brother's name. Aren't you going to explain this to me?"
Xiang Wan's eyes widened. She pointed to herself, then to Lou Junxuan, and said innocently, "Do we look alike?"
As she spoke, she shook her head self-deprecatingly and smiled bitterly, "If someone with such an extraordinary air about him were really my brother, Miss Wan, do you think I would still be working at the club?"
Lou Junxuan calmed down. What was his younger brother's intention in being so eager to sever ties with him in front of outsiders?
Cui Shiwan stared at Xiang Wan for a long time, and seeing that her expression did not change at all, she looked away and silently took a sip of beer.
According to her records, the two Lou brothers were indeed at odds, to the point that they would argue whenever they met. Seeing Lou Xiangwan so vehemently denying any connection to them, she couldn't help but have her suspicions.
Either Lou Xiangwan was resentful of Lou Jing's old-fashioned favoritism and wanted to be self-reliant and prove her abilities, or she wanted to break away from the Lou family. As for what she would do after leaving the Lou family, Cui Shiwan had a bold and crazy guess, which was of course something she was extremely unwilling to admit.
Judging from Lou Junxuan's attitude towards Lou Xiangwan, it's clear he won't give up easily. If what she thinks is true, then Lou Xiangwan is even less likely to be allowed to live.
Cui Shiwan concealed the cold glint in her eyes and smiled, "Since you're unwilling, I won't bring it up again. However, Mr. Lou said that if I ask you out again, he will refuse to cooperate with me. Kevin, you don't want me to suffer huge losses because of this, do you?"
Xiang Wan could only chuckle as she earnestly tried to trick her.
The unpleasant truths were already stated beforehand, so why doesn't Cui Shiwan learn her lesson?
“Miss Wan, if Mr. Lou is a person who abuses his power for personal gain and disregards the overall situation, I advise you to think carefully before making any decisions, so as not to regret it in the future.”
"Besides," Xiang Wan raised an eyebrow, "we've already said before that whether we make a profit or a loss, it has nothing to do with me. What I said just now was just advice from a friend, so just take it with a grain of salt."
"Kevin, I didn't expect you to see things more clearly than I do."
"As an outsider with limited knowledge, Miss Wan, please just treat this as casual conversation."
The two clinked glasses, drank, and then started talking about other things.
Lou Junxuan discovered that, apart from when he was facing him, this younger brother was not only quick-witted and very talkative, but also knew how to keep his distance, and could make people feel happy when chatting.
Watching them chatter more and more congenially, Lou Junxuan felt a little envious and a little annoyed.
They are clearly his family, yet they completely ignore him in front of outsiders. Is it only by becoming his client that one can avoid being excluded by him?
Lou Junxuan's heart was subtly changing, unbeknownst to Xiang Wan, who only vaguely sensed that someone was watching her. But she didn't care; plenty of people were watching her, so one or two more wouldn't make a difference.
The number of people in the bar gradually increased and then decreased again, and before they knew it, it was already past midnight. The three of them got up, and as usual, Cui Shiwan paid the bill.
Xiang Wan stood to the side, receiving many glares, and even contemptuous and disdainful looks.
She didn't care at all; this was her livelihood, and if she were shy, she wouldn't have chosen this path.
Let them watch if they want; it won't hurt them. If any fool dares to make sarcastic remarks, Xiang Wan wouldn't mind practicing her martial arts skills on the side.
However, while she doesn't mind, some people do.
Lou Junxuan stood next to Xiang Wan and glared back at all those subtle glances. He was about to take out his wallet to pay the bill, but Xiang Wan stopped him.
This person is a bit oblivious. Standing next to Xiang Wan, while others despise her, they also despise him. Why bother hurting his own wallet over such a trivial matter?
