Male Lead: Seduce me quickly! Leng Yue: No, no, no, I can't do it!
Male Lead: I allow you to seduce me! Leng Yue: ... This generation's male lead is so hard to handle, I want to go ho...
Leng Yue and Qian Chen originally intended to leave quietly, but they discovered that this town was their only way to the East.
After thinking about it for a while, the two returned to the husky's house.
"Are you leaving?" The husky, who was pretending to be sick, lay on the bed looking quite serious, but when it heard that they were leaving the town, it jumped right out of bed.
"Just focus on getting better. We're not saying we're not coming back." Qianchen was speechless. The husky really lived up to its name.
"No, I'm not sick. My mom's not home anyway, so I'm not going to pretend anymore." Erha took off the towel from his head and looked at Leng Yue and Qian Chen seriously, even his accent had changed. "Are you really leaving? Actually, this town is pretty good."
"Judging from your tone, do you know something?" Leng Yue looked at the husky in front of her, who seemed like a completely different person, and her expression became serious. They say you can't judge a book by its cover, and true masters don't reveal their abilities; the husky seemed to be embracing that idea.
"Come with me." Erha sighed and led Lengyue and Qianchen to their backyard.
The husky opened a storage area and took out a box.
"Cough cough cough, what is this?" Erha patted the dust off, making Leng Yue cough.
"I brought these from outside, and I put them away here," the husky said, opening the box, which was full of books.
"Did you bring these books from outside?" Leng Yue squatted down to look at them and found that they were mostly miscellaneous writings on humanities, as well as the Four Books and Five Classics. "You also attended a private school?"
The husky shook its head and then nodded. "Well, you might not believe it, but I was originally from out of town. One day, I accidentally wandered into this fairytale town and stayed."
"Where are you from?" Leng Yue had long found Erha strange. Erha spoke with a Henan accent, but Erha's mother spoke Mandarin. It all seemed odd. She had previously thought Erha was silly, but now it seemed that wasn't the case.
"I came here when I jumped off a cliff in despair after failing the imperial examinations eight times in a row in Yuzhou." The husky looked somewhat bewildered. "Actually, I don't even know if this is all just a dream."
"You took the test eight times, so your age is wrong?" Leng Yue looked at Erha. He was so young, he didn't look like someone who had taken the test eight times at all.
"Coming here is like being reborn, unless you're a native of this place. They're born, grow up, age, and die here. Like my mother, though they're actually older than we see," the husky explained.
"So your name isn't Erha anymore?" Leng Yue asked, somewhat curious about Erha's real name.
"Fan Meijin was originally a scholar from Yuzhou. He was rescued by my current mother when he came here, and I became a werewolf. From then on, my mother and I depended on each other for survival." Erha didn't hide anything anymore and told the whole story.
"I'll still call you Erha, it sounds better." After saying that, Leng Yue asked, "You're human, how did you become a werewolf?"
"Please feel free, young lady. There's nothing strange about me turning into a werewolf. The reason this place is called Fairy Tale Town is because everything is possible here." Erha nodded indifferently. He had almost forgotten his original name long ago, and if Leng Yue hadn't asked, he probably would never have mentioned it again in his life.
"Does it mean my wishes will come true?" Leng Yue wondered if that were the case, and if so, should she go buy a lottery ticket?
"Of course not!" Erha interrupted Lengyue's fantasy. "Only if someone here is willing to accept you can you become an outsider with the mayor's approval. If no one is willing to accept you, then outsiders will eventually be driven out."
"How could someone who has studied the classics for so long be willing to give up his human identity?" Qianchen looked at Erha with a probing gaze.
“Nothing matters except death. I wasn’t even afraid of death back then. Coming here suddenly, I just think of myself as being reborn.” The husky smiled, feeling somewhat relieved.
“Many times, I don’t think about where I came from, not because I’m reluctant to leave, but because I’m afraid that everything here is an illusion.” The husky seemed to have thought of something, and its smile widened. “My mom here is very good to me, and I’m willing to stay here.”
"What about your family outside?" Women are always emotional, and always more sympathetic to the weak. Seeing how heartless Erha was towards her relatives outside, Leng Yue became somewhat concerned again.
"Where are my family members outside?" Erha smiled bitterly. "I lost my father at a young age and depended on my mother for survival. When I was sixteen, my mother arranged a marriage for me, but she passed away from illness that same year. My wife was a shrew; she would beat and scold me constantly. She was better for a while when I was passing the imperial examination, but after I failed repeatedly, she became even more aggressive. No, she became even worse."
“What’s there to miss out on outside? It’s my mother here. I think she’s much better than my own mother.” Erha said, pushing the box in front of Leng Yue. “Take any books you need from here.”
Leng Yue didn't actually want the books; she just wanted to see what books Erha had brought. But as she flipped through them, she pulled out a copy of the *Tao Te Ching*.
"Is this yours?" Leng Yue felt that this copy of the Tao Te Ching was somewhat similar to the one Lily had given her before; the handwriting was very similar.
“Yes, I copied this Tao Te Ching,” Erha explained when he saw Leng Yue looking at him. “It’s not a waste of time, but to earn some money by copying books for wealthy families. This copy was the one that family didn’t want, so they left it to me.”
Leng Yue glanced at Erha, then took out the tattered copy of the Tao Te Ching she had collected. Comparing the two, they were surprisingly almost identical.
"Where did you get this book?" The husky's eyes widened. He could recognize the book he copied at a glance.
“A girl gave it to me before. She said her father gave it to her,” Leng Yue said briefly.
"What's the girl's father's name?" Erha's voice trembled slightly.
"I don't know, the girl didn't say, I'm not sure. Is there a problem? Is this also your handwritten copy?" Leng Yue handed over the book in her hand, while glancing at Qian Chen.
"That girl's father is very likely my son," Erha said with difficulty, his hands tightly gripping the book, trembling uncontrollably.
"How is this possible?" Leng Yue was completely dumbfounded. What was this all about? It was so absurd!
"Girl, look here, isn't there a character for 'enter' written here? This is what I left for my son before his exam." The husky touched the book. "I wonder how he's doing, whether he's studying hard? I didn't know he was married and had kids. How's he doing?"
Leng Yue's hand was being held by Erha. Qian Chen pulled Erha aside and whispered, "Your son is dead, and your granddaughter has grown up. Of course, she may have turned into a handful of dust by now."
"They're all dead? The ancients said a dream lasts a thousand years, is that how it is for me?" The husky's eyes filled with confusion. "Did I do something wrong?"
Neither Leng Yue nor Qian Chen could answer this question. They couldn't choose for him whether spending time with family was more important or achieving immortality was more important. Because, different people will never have the same answer.
