After an accidental death, Shi Lan travels through various worlds to help those female supporting characters who were cannon foddered achieve their wishes and live anew.
She experiences vario...
Three days later, Shi Lan was finally able to sit up with difficulty. Rong Qing couldn't resist her request and arranged for someone to prepare a car to take her back.
After dinner, Rong Qing led Shi Lan to the carriage that had been waiting at the hanging flower gate.
The carriage swayed gently, and Shi Lan sat on the thick, soft mattress, shifting back and forth, making the soft satin cushion on the blue stone out of shape. Rong Qing, who was beside her, was so disturbed by her that he could not concentrate on his book and had to put it down.
"Do you have a nail under your butt?"
Shi Lan paused, turned her head, and glared at him angrily.
Rong Qing sighed softly, knowing that she was worried that the Shi family would find out that she hadn't been in the mansion for the past few days.
Rong Qing closed his eyes, recalling the advice his advisors had given him the night before, urging him to be patient with women. He could only suppress his agitation and patiently comfort her, saying, "Don't worry, I've already arranged a substitute in your courtyard, and my people have replaced the ones who serve you closely. Your head maid is clever and will surely be able to help you."
Shi Lan nodded, agreeing with his affirmation. Cui Zhi was indeed very good to her. From the first moment she saw her, she had been taking care of her wholeheartedly and treating her with utmost kindness.
Rong Qing added, “Your wound hasn’t healed yet, so you must keep up with the medication. You have some ignorant girls there. I’ve replaced them with two others, one skilled in medicine and the other in martial arts. I’ll leave them with you, and you can have them do things for you in the future.”
Shi Lan pouted, quite dissatisfied. She was used to the maids in the courtyard, and suddenly two strangers came, and they didn't even listen to her completely, which made her feel that her territory had been invaded.
Rong Qing gave her a look that left no room for doubt. He knew she was unhappy, and he had long been aware of her stubbornness. However, he couldn't let her have her way in this matter. Since he had saved her, her life belonged to him. He didn't want to waste so many precious medicinal herbs only to end up with nothing.
The carriage soon came to a stop. Shi Lan scooted forward, trying to get up, but Rong Qing bent down, stretched out his long arm, and picked her up by the waist.
Shi Lan exclaimed in surprise and instinctively reached out to hug his neck.
Rong Qing smiled slightly, bent down and passed through the carriage curtain that the coachman had lifted, and lightly jumped down from the carriage.
By now, the moon had risen above the treetops, the daytime hustle and bustle had long since subsided, and the faint chirping of insects in the distance had also faded away after a moment.
Shi Lan looked up at the inky black sky, then at the coachman beside her.
The driver kept his head slightly lowered, his large straw hat obscuring his eyebrows and eyes, making it impossible to see his face. However, his lean and strong back and the thin calluses on his hands and feet clearly indicated that he was no ordinary driver.
Shi Lan stared at him intently for a moment, then turned to look at Rong Qing.
Could someone who is so reserved and dignified that he would willingly submit to someone so readily? Could he really be the scion of a fallen family that he claims to be?
Rong Qing noticed her gaze, lowered his head, and looked at her with a puzzled expression.
Shi Lan turned her face uncomfortably, looking at the dark ground.
Shi Lan herself didn't notice that there was a very light blush on her cheeks. Rong Qing's eyes were like lightning, and he took it all in with a slight up and down movement.
Rong Qing knew her awkward nature, so he didn't say much. He smiled to himself, bent his long legs slightly, and took off. A cool breeze swept over, and Shi Lan subconsciously closed her eyes. She heard the whistling wind in her ears. When she opened her eyes again, a familiar courtyard wall appeared in front of her.
Rong Qing gently put Shi Lan down, then lightly tapped the wall twice. A moment later, a sound came from inside, and a figure flew out.
A chubby body, a fair and tender face, big round eyes, and short, chubby, soft fingers.
Shi Lan stared at the newcomer in astonishment; it was truly amazing.
The difficulty of this skill lies in achieving a high degree of similarity. To successfully deceive others, one must first create a lifelike mask, and secondly, one must perfectly resemble the person in terms of physique, demeanor, and expression. Shi Lan herself had mastered this skill, but upon seeing the person before her, she could only admit her inferiority.
As soon as the man stopped, he knelt on one knee and whispered, "Everything is well in the manor. I have done my duty."
Rong Qing raised his head, gave a haughty "hmm," and with a wave of his hand, the man stood up and disappeared into the night in a flash.
Shi Lan looked up at the sky and silently examined herself. Had she been too lazy? She clearly possessed a body-refining technique far superior to that of this world, but she always neglected to practice it for one reason or another.
Seeing her in a daze, Rong Qing assumed she was frightened by the person from earlier, so he reached out and patted her head, saying, "Don't be afraid, no one can hurt you again."
Shi Lan looked up at him, feeling a little strange. It was like pampering, yet also like comforting, which made her very uncomfortable. So she tilted her head to avoid his caress and frowned, saying, "Don't touch my head, or I won't grow tall."
Rong Qing grinned and wrapped his long fingers around her waist. Before she could object, he leaped over the wall and jumped over.
The original owner liked pastries made from flowers and fruits. In order to get fresh ingredients, Cui Zhi planted flowers all around the wall to ensure that there were fresh flowers available all year round. Rong Qing had passed through the flowers when he came before. This time, he chose a brightly blooming osmanthus tree as his landing point. Rong Qing lightly stepped on the flower branches and floated down. The petals fell down, and a strong, sweet fragrance filled the air. Rong Qing touched the ground with one foot and jumped into the green-tiled and red-pillared corridor leading to the main gate.
Cuizhi, who had been waiting anxiously by the door, heard the noise and hurried out to greet them.
"Is this Miss?" Cui Zhi's voice was low and soft, but her steps were hurried and quick.
Upon hearing Cui Zhi's call, Shi Lan patted Rong Qing, signaling him to put her down, and responded to her call.
Hearing Shi Lan's soft, childlike voice, Cui Zhi clutched her chest and quickened her pace.
Ever since she learned of the young lady's accident, her heart had been uneasy. Although the man said the young lady was alright, how could she truly put her mind at ease after hearing Tianxing's report?
