Chapter 421 The very last moment (The Grand Finale)

Shi Lan was taking a nap leaning against the couch. The thin moonlight shone through the ceiling and window, illuminating her fair and beautiful face, which only made Hao Ze's eyes soften even more.

He raised his hand as if to gently stroke it.

As the strands of hair fell from his hand, he paused, then began to trace them in the air.

Haoze carefully sketched Shi Lan, a slight smile appearing on his lips.

The return of his clone brought all his memories back to his mind. Recalling the scene he had just witnessed, he had some insights, but also felt a sense of unreality, as if it were a dream.

Shi Lan's eyelashes trembled twice rapidly, and her dark eyes immediately turned to Hao Ze.

Noticing he was awake, Shi Lan smiled and asked, "How are you feeling?"

Haoze's eyes flickered slightly, and his brows furrowed. "Not good."

Shi Lan was startled and subconsciously looked at his eyebrows. Seeing that the lines had disappeared, she felt a little strange. According to her past experiences, he should have regained his memories. Could it be that because the erosion was too deep, something had happened?

When Shi Lan was still a deity, she wasn't particularly interested in magic. Later, after the incident, she lost her memory and became even less knowledgeable about it. So when she saw Hao Ze showing signs of discomfort, she didn't realize anything was wrong; instead, she worried that something unexpected might happen.

"What's wrong? Is it a headache? Should I go and call Uncle Yun over?" Shi Lan's eyes reddened, and she trembled, not knowing what to do.

Haoze pursed his lips when he saw her pale face.

After a long pause, he said, "Are you worried?"

Shi Lan blinked and said, "Of course I'm worried."

"Why?" Haoze slowly raised his head, the faint light of the night falling into his eyes, scattering tiny silver glints.

Shi Lan's face flushed. A woman's shyness made her turn her eyes away, unable to look directly at him. Her heart pounded so hard that she bit her rosy lips tightly with her teeth, as if afraid that she would utter some uncontrollable words.

Haoze felt a stirring in his heart, though he couldn't quite put his finger on the feeling.

After accepting the memories of the clone, Haoze had an incredible idea, but it gradually disappeared as he learned more about Shi Lan.

Shi Lan is stubborn, but she has a soft heart, so soft that she can't bear to see people pitiful.

He had worried that his fleeting thought was merely a momentary pity from her, which would only cause her distress. Now it seemed that he had indeed been delusional.

Haoze curled the corners of his mouth slightly, a hint of self-deprecation in his expression.

It seems he was right; everything the clone experienced was merely her attempt to save herself.

Shi Lan stole a glance at him and saw that his face was as white as snow. She was a little worried, but she was really embarrassed to say such embarrassing things.

Haoze sighed, raised his head, and his expression returned to its calm and aloof state.

"Okay, I understand."

Shi Lan frowned, stared at him for a while, and then suddenly a look of surprise appeared on her face.

"You're awake?"

Haoze nodded, a faint complexity in his eyes.

Shi Lan, who was usually oblivious, immediately showed delight, "Great, you're finally awake."

Haoze twitched his fingers, resisting the urge to pull that smiling face into his arms, and tentatively asked, "What are your thoughts on the grand ceremony?"

Shi Lan blinked, feeling puzzled. The grand ceremony was still some time away, and Haoze would disappear after only a quarter of an hour each time he woke up. How could he possibly wait until then?

When Haoze saw that she didn't speak, his burning heart gradually cooled.

If you don't want to, then...

Haoze's face paled even more, and his usually upright back slumped slightly.

Shi Lan said, "If you leave immediately, how can the ceremony be held? Besides, the evil spirits haven't been completely eliminated yet. It's better to discuss our matter after things have settled down."

Haoze's eyes widened suddenly, and he wondered if he had misheard.

Shi Lan's cheeks flushed pink as she glanced at Hao Ze, who had become completely bewildered.

"You've already done that with me, and you don't want to take responsibility?"

Haoze opened his mouth and suddenly burst into laughter. He reached out and hugged Shi Lan, spinning her around rapidly. The joy in his heart bloomed into dazzling flowers around him, like pieces of golden light.

Shi Lan gently punched him, "Put me down quickly."

Haoze gently placed her back on the ground, cupped her face, kissed her lightly, and solemnly said, "You're right, I'll listen to my wife."

Shi Lan was extremely embarrassed. Hao Ze took her hand and said softly, "Close your eyes."

Shi Lan naturally obeyed.

The wind whistled in her ears, and a strange feeling of weightlessness washed over her. She opened her eyes to find herself surrounded by a thin mist.

Shi Lan was slightly stunned. She looked around and realized that she was on top of someone, who was smiling and looking down at her.

Shi Lan blinked, and said incredulously, "Hao, Haoze."

Haoze's lips curled up slightly, revealing an extremely gentle smile.

Upon hearing the sound, Mingxiao rushed over in a panic.

Upon seeing the two, it let out a strange cry and pounced at Haoze's feet, saying, "My lord, you've finally woken up."

Shi Lan looked down at Mingxiao, and no matter how she looked at it, she felt that it resembled her own pet.

Haoze helped Shi Lan up and nodded slightly, "You did a good job this time."

Mingxiao was so excited that his whole body trembled when Haoze praised him for the first time.

Haoze helped Shilan to the edge of the stone platform, had her place her hands on the tall stone, and muttered some incantations.

Several small stones suddenly flew out of the void, like swallows returning to their nests, and landed on the large rock, instantly merging into one.

Haoze laid the large stone flat and gestured for Shilan to close her eyes.

As if in a daze, when Shi Lan opened her eyes again, she found that her body seemed to have weight, and she finally had a real feeling when she moved her hands and feet.

As she slowly rose to her feet, just as she was about to speak, a burst of joyful drumming music, accompanied by a golden light, instantly arrived before her.
