Chapter 48 Rainy Season "Don't give up on me, okay?"...

Tian Ying wasn't sure if the caller was Lin Fei, so she looked at her phone. She asked, "What's wrong, Master's wife?"

It's quiet over there; they probably aren't in the duty room.

Lin Fei tried to remain calm, but her words were still incoherent: "Liang... Liang Yanzhe, why did he leave today? He shouldn't have left today. He said he'd be gone for the next two days, but not a single day has passed. What is he going to do there? Is he going to stay there forever?"

"Teacher's wife..." Tian Ying was stunned by the question, but as a student who could keep up with Liang Yanzhe's pace, she still grasped the key point, "Teacher went to Lv Shenglinia this time because he was invited to attend a medical summit. He suddenly moved it up a day because there was a rare case that needed to be operated on. The surgeon was his senior brother, who was invited to observe. He will be back in a week and will not stay there indefinitely."

When Lin Fei heard Tian Ying's accurate answer, his chaotic heart finally calmed down a bit, but he couldn't help but sob.

Tian Ying panicked, wondering what was going on.

Did the couple have a fight?

That shouldn't be the case. Their relationship is known to be very good in their hospital. Other department heads would often chat about family matters, but they never heard Teacher Liang say a bad word about his wife.

"Teacher's wife, are you alright?" Tian Ying asked. "Is there anything I can do to help you? I'm leaving for Lleurnia tomorrow, perhaps... I can pass on a message to the teacher for you?"

Lin Fei took a few deep breaths: "Can...you take me there?"

Tian Ying exclaimed, "Ah!" This was a bit difficult; her authority was too limited to offer much help.

"I'll just go there, I won't do anything," Lin Fei said. "Please don't tell Liang Yanzhe."

Since she had already asked for a favor, Tian Ying had no choice but to betray her mentor.

Lin Fei made the decision to go abroad without hesitation.

Some things could wait until Liang Yanzhe returned before she said them, but she didn't want to wait any longer.

Every day she didn't see him, his words from last night felt like a thorn stuck in her heart.

Tian Ying obtained Lin Fei's personal information from Ye Zhan and helped him book a plane ticket.

Departure time is 7:00 AM tomorrow. We will land in another country tonight for a connecting flight, and then land in Saint-Léon the following morning.

Ye Zhan was startled when he learned that Lin Fei was going to go with him.

"We should tell the teacher first, since we're going to Llusanlia." Ye Zhan felt uneasy; armed uprisings occasionally occurred in that country.

Tian Ying shook her head, firmly standing on Lin Fei's side: "If you dare to say that, I'll beat you up."

"If something happens to your wife, can we afford it?" Ye Zhan grabbed his collar and said pitifully, "I'd rather you didn't tell me. If I know, I can't tell the teacher, my conscience won't allow it!"

Tian Ying rolled her eyes at Ye Zhan. This guy was quick-witted, but he would freeze up when faced with certain situations and couldn't weigh the pros and cons.

"Trust me, there's absolutely no problem siding with your teacher's wife. She instructed us not to tell anyone, and if you still tell your teacher, he'll definitely suspect you're not good at keeping secrets, and his trust in you will plummet to negative points." Tian Ying arranged all the itineraries and sent the flight information to Lin Fei.

Ye Zhan's lips twitched: "How did we end up pleasing neither side?"

“It’s you, not me. I have no ill intentions towards my teacher’s wife.” Tian Ying remembered how good Lin Fei had been to them. “Instead of worrying here, we should pray that the couple can reconcile.”

"Waaah, you're right!" Ye Zhan looked at Tian Ying with admiration. "When they're in a good relationship, we won't be criticized too harshly when we make mistakes. But when they're not in a good relationship, we're practically dying at the operating room door."

Tian Ying snapped her fingers: "I'm leaving. I'll bring my teacher's wife a light breakfast tomorrow morning. I bet she won't be in the mood for anything."

"Aww, you're my senior sister from now on!" Ye Zhan gave Tian Ying a slightly awkward bow.

Tian Ying couldn't stand the man's fawning manner any longer, so she quickly packed her things and ran home.

-

At five o'clock in the morning, Zhong Shuwen took Lin Fei to the airport and helped her check in her luggage.

"Are you really going?" Zhong Shuwen asked, still worried.

Lin Fei took the passport and plane ticket from his hand: "Go. If I don't go, I won't be able to get over it in my own heart."

"It's something that can be explained with a phone call." He didn't want Lin Fei to go to such a dangerous place.

Lin Fei: "It's different. Liang Yanzhe will definitely tell me it's okay, and he will perform as I expect. This problem isn't gone, it's just that we've buried it temporarily, and it will still erupt one day."

She really didn't want to hear him say those self-destructive things anymore.

"Tell him before boarding." Zhong Shuwen was told not to tell Liang Yanzhe in advance, and keeping it to herself was quite torturous.

Lin Fei: "I will tell."

But not now.

If she had told them before boarding, she would have been prevented from leaving the plane.

"Go on ahead." Zhong Shuwen saw Lin Fei through security. "Let me know when you get there, and be sure to remember."

"I understand." Lin Fei gave Zhong Shuwen a rare hug.

He was flattered. He still preferred her to be a little domineering and unreasonable. He would save the tenderness for Liang Yanzhe, who could handle it.

After Lin Fei passed through security, he saw Tian Ying and Ye Zhan sitting on a bench not far away, waiting for him.

"Teacher's wife, I brought you some food." Tian Ying shook the bag in her hand. "Let's go to the convenience store over there and wait."

Lin Fei was still holding the breakfast Zhong Shuwen had given her, enough for three people, which she shared with them.

"Teacher's wife... is it really okay for us to keep this from our teacher?" Ye Zhan asked anxiously. He had spent the whole night preparing himself mentally, but he still couldn't get over his conscience.

Tian Ying asked speechlessly, "What exactly are you afraid of?"

"Waaah, do you know how much we value our lineage in this profession? If we leave our teacher, where will we find a strong backer to rely on?" Ye Zhan feigned sadness and sniffled. "If I'm kicked out, I'll just be a lowly doctor who can be bullied by everyone."

"You've been watching too many melodramatic movies." Tian Ying picked up a dumpling and stuffed it into Ye Zhan's mouth. "Shut up, eat properly."

Lin Fei didn't quite understand the intricacies of their medical system and the complexities of human relationships.

"Do we really have to... rely on Liang Yanzhe as a powerful figure?"

The Liang family holds a high position in the medical industry, producing many famous doctors, and their company is a Fortune Global 500 company, so it makes sense.

Ye Zhan asked mysteriously, "Do you know who Teacher Liang's teacher, our grandmaster, is?"

"Dr. Liang's teacher..." Lin Fei thought for a moment, "Zhong Deshou?"

Ye Zhan nodded: "Cardiac surgery developed late in China. Professor Zhong was already a famous cardiac surgeon abroad, but he was willing to give up a high salary and bring his team back to China to fill this gap. He is hailed as one of the pioneers of cardiac surgery in China. Professor Zhong didn't recruit many students after that because his students started to mentor others. Teacher Liang was the last student he recruited. Isn't that amazing? So many people want to be associated with him. Our seniority is comparable to that of many hospital directors."

Tian Ying slapped Ye Zhan's arm.

"What's wrong? It hurts." Ye Zhan rubbed his arm, preparing to continue.

Tian Ying gave him a few meaningful glances, but Ye Zhan couldn't understand them.

"I understand." Lin Fei released the straw. "If Liang Yanzhe fires you two, I'll plead with my grandfather to find you a better place. If no one else can take you in, he'll take care of you himself, okay?"

Ye Zhan stood there dumbfounded.

Look at his memory, he forgot that the woman in front of him is Professor Zhong's granddaughter.

Tian Ying looked up at the sky helplessly, feeling that her teammates were incredibly stupid.

Lin Fei stood up: "I need to go to the restroom."

After everyone left, Ye Zhan rubbed his hair and yelled incoherently, "What the hell! Am I crazy?! What am I saying?"

"Back then, there were rumors circulating in the hospital that Professor Liang married Professor Zhong's granddaughter to curry favor with him. Weren't you the one who enjoyed it the most? Have you forgotten all that?" Tian Ying didn't want to admit that this person was her classmate; she felt insulted.

Ye Zhan hugged Tian Ying's arm: "Waaah... Do I still have a chance to salvage my image in front of my teacher's wife? I was just bragging."

"You have no manners, thank you." Tian Ying slapped him away. "Don't touch me!"

After Lin Fei returned, Ye Zhan slowly moved closer.

"Teacher's wife..."

He hesitated about how to begin.

"I won't take it to heart, don't overthink it." Lin Fei was just teasing him, it was quite fun.

Ye Zhan expressed his true feelings: "Don't worry, I will absolutely not reveal a single word of your schedule to the teacher, and I will definitely stand by your side."

What are Liang Yanzhe and Liang Shi compared to this? This is the granddaughter of the advisor, a figure of great importance.

Lin Fei wasn't an oblivious 'elder.' After boarding the plane, she pretended to be asleep, giving the two of them time to attend to their own business and not needing to look after her all the time.

During their layover that evening, after finishing dinner, Lin Fei looked at the two of them and said, "If you want to talk to Liang Yanzhe, then go ahead."

Ye Zhan was stunned: "You said you couldn't..."

Tian Ying nudged him with her elbow, silencing him. She said, "Understood, Master's wife. I guarantee I'll complete the mission."

"Huh?" Ye Zhan asked, "What kind of mission is this?"

"You should focus on your thesis and stop asking questions." Tian Ying opened her WeChat chat with Liang Yanzhe and sent him a message that Lin Fei had gone to Lv Shenglinia with them, along with a sweating emoji.

Ye Zhan sneered a few times, saying that Tian Ying should go to "Actors, Please Take Your Seats" instead of being a doctor.

Unsurprisingly, Liang Yanzhe called soon after.

Tian Ying got up and went to the side to take it.

"Teacher... I wanted to tell you sooner, but I didn't find the opportunity."

"We're about to board the plane. Maybe I should persuade my teacher's wife to buy her a ticket back to China."

After a few seconds of silence, Liang Yanzhe calmly said, "Don't leave her alone at the airport, come over with her."

"Okay, I'll listen to the teacher!" Tian Ying hung up the phone, returned to her seat, and gave Lin Fei an 'OK' sign.

Ye Zhan finally understood.

Poor Teacher Liang was still taken advantage of because of her sympathy. After all, they had already gone abroad and were about to board the plane. They were definitely worried about leaving Lin Fei alone at the airport to wait for the plane back home.

Lin Fei was relatively calm during the first half of the flight and even took a nap. The second half was a night flight, and she couldn't sleep at all; her heart was pounding, and she became increasingly nervous as they approached their destination.

At 3:47 a.m., the plane landed in Saint-Léon.

The cabin door opened, and Lin Fei felt the hot evening breeze, so he took off his shirt and jacket.

During the twenty minutes that Lin Fei was waiting for her luggage, she was still not mentally prepared to meet Liang Yanzhe.

Ye Zhan hung up the phone and walked over, asking in confusion, "Professor Jin is here too, specially to pick us up? Do we have such a high status?"

"Who is Professor Jin...?" Lin Fei asked.

Tian Ying: "Professor Jin is Professor Liang's senior, but he is more than ten years older than Professor Liang and was one of Professor Zhong's earliest students."

Lin Fei took out his phone and, sure enough, there was a message from Zhong Shuwen on WeChat.

Zhong Shuwen: [Don't worry, I've taken care of everything for you. Don't worry about him not taking you in when you get there.]

Zhong Shuwen: [I asked my grandfather to call his student and tell him that you're coming to visit, so please take good care of you.]

Lin Fei was ashamed; this commotion was far too great.

Zhong Shuwen anticipated that Lin Fei might be reluctant to speak up.

He added, "Don't overthink it. Even if you get a cold shower this time, you still have to make it look good. You need someone to back you up."

Lin Fei thought to herself, "I should be nicer to Zhong Shuwen in the future. I've worried about her a lot."

After collecting their luggage, the three of them went out together.

A kind-looking middle-aged man was holding up a sign that read "Lin Shufei" in large characters.

Lin Fei's gaze passed over the sign and landed on Liang Yanzhe standing next to the man. He was wearing simple trousers and a shirt, and because of the hot weather, he had unbuttoned the top button and rolled up his sleeves, revealing his shapely arms.

They exchanged a silent glance amidst the crowd.

Professor Jin walked towards Lin Fei, interrupting their eye contact.

"You must be Xiao Fei?" Professor Jin introduced himself with a smile. "I am Professor Zhong's student, and my surname is Jin."

"Hello, Uncle Jin." Lin Fei shook his outstretched hand politely.

"I heard from your teacher that you're here for tourism, so I've already booked a hotel for you. If you'd like to explore, I've contacted a local friend who can be your tour guide." Professor Jin was so enthusiastic that he forgot there were other people present.

Lin Fei looked in Liang Yanzhe's direction, and Professor Jin then realized that he hadn't introduced them.

"This is your brother's good friend, and also Professor Zhong's student, Dr. Liang Yanzhe."

“I’m sure you know each other, and you even came with his students.”

Lin Fei turned to look at Tian Ying and Ye Zhan. Although she didn't say anything, they knew what she wanted to ask.

Both of them shook their heads; they didn't understand the situation either.

Professor Jin was unaware of her relationship with Liang Yanzhe.

Zhong Shuwen didn't have a chance to speak, nor did Liang Yanzhe.

When Lin Fei's gaze shifted to Liang Yanzhe, it turned somewhat cold.

If he didn't want to talk about it, then she wouldn't make a fool of herself.

"Let's go, get in the car." Professor Jin picked up the person and didn't forget to send a message to his teacher who was far away in Gangdu.

Lin Fei sat down next to Professor Jin.

He must have not seen his grandfather for a long time, because he chatted with Lin Fei for a long time, and no one else had a chance to speak.

Half an hour later, the car stopped in front of the hotel.

Lin Fei got out of the car and looked around.

After all, it is the capital city, so the infrastructure is quite good, and it is not as dirty and chaotic as some people say online.

"Xiao Fei, I've booked a room for you. Come and register." Professor Jin personally took charge of the process.

"No need, Uncle Jin, I'll share a room with Tian Ying." Lin Fei pulled his luggage over. "You still have work to do, so don't worry about me. I won't hesitate to ask if you need anything."

Professor Jin smiled so much his eyes narrowed into slits: "Alright, don't stand on ceremony with me!"

Tian Ying felt a chill run down her spine and moved closer to Lin Fei.

"Teacher's wife...do you really want to live with me?" She lowered her voice to the lowest possible level.

Lin Fei: "Well, someone doesn't want to talk to me right now, and I have nowhere to go."

Professor Jin asked, "Let's go back and put our luggage away first. We can have breakfast together in the restaurant on the second floor later, and then you can rest, okay?"

They went back to their rooms to rest, and met up in the restaurant on the second floor ten minutes later.

Lin Fei quickly accepted the situation. During breakfast, he only talked to Professor Jin and asked about the most popular tourist attractions, just like a tourist.

Everyone was preoccupied with their own thoughts and ate quietly, with only Professor Jin trying to liven things up.

After inquiring about Lin Fei, he turned the conversation to Liang Yanzhe. He asked, "I didn't have a chance to chat with you much yesterday. I heard from the other junior brothers and sisters that you got married?"

"Hmm." Liang Yanzhe's face was calm.

Professor Jin asked, "Who is it? Have I seen them before? I don't think so, otherwise they would have told me by now."

Don't underestimate how quickly gossip spreads in their circle.

Liang Yanzhe lifted his eyelids, looked straight ahead, and accurately caught the glance that Lin Fei had casually glanced at.

Lin Fei blinked, betraying his inner panic.

Tian Ying and Ye Zhan wished they could bury their heads in their rice bowls; they were suffering from indigestion after this meal.

"Senior brother, I thought the gossip would reach you." Liang Yanzhe's voice softened, his face as calm as still water, seemingly serene, but his eyes held an unfathomable depth.

Professor Jin became interested and asked with a smile, "It seems to be a big piece of gossip. I've been abroad for the past six months and missed quite a few interesting things!"

A nonchalant smile appeared on Liang Yanzhe's face, but he did not give a direct answer.

Professor Jin assumed it was a negative rumor, coughed twice, and decided not to ask any further questions, as it was a private matter.

Even if you're curious, you shouldn't ask in person; just gossip about it with other people in private.

As fellow disciples, we should still give each other face.

"I'm full." Lin Fei put down his knife and fork. "I'm going back to my room to rest."

Tian Ying stood up, speaking so quickly that her tongue almost rolled back: "Master...yes, I'm full too. I'll take my leave first. Please enjoy your meal, Uncle-Master and Teacher."

Professor Jin glanced at their plates and muttered, "They've only eaten so little, are they even full?"

Ye Zhan thought to himself, "Only a genius can still eat in this kind of atmosphere."

"Or is our topic just too boring?" Professor Jin, who loved to mingle with everyone, was puzzled by Lin Fei's sudden change in attitude and kept reflecting on himself.

Liang Yanzhe: No, I'm the one who's a bit of a spoilsport.

"Don't be modest," Professor Jin urged them. "Let's eat more."

"No, I have other things to do." Liang Yanzhe put down his knife and fork, got up and walked in the direction Lin Fei and the others had left.

Professor Jin was even more bewildered: "Did I kill the conversation again?"

"Uncle-Master..." Ye Zhan sighed and confessed everything. "You've heard so much gossip, didn't you hear everyone talking about how Teacher Liang married the Grandmaster's granddaughter to curry favor with him?"

Professor Jin paused, thought for a full ten seconds, and then gasped: "So, Xiao Fei and Junior Brother Liang... have that kind of relationship?"

He recalled how he had insisted on sharing a car with Liang Yanzhe before setting off, his expression when he went to pick someone up, and how, when they came out of the exit, Liang Yanzhe was supposed to go forward to greet them, but he beat him to it.

It's no wonder that no one spoke; he was controlling the conversation, and no one had a chance to interrupt.

"It didn't affect them, did it?" Professor Jin fell into deep thought.

Ye Zhan ate his meal intently, acting as if it were none of his business.

-

"Lin Fei".

Liang Yanzhe's voice echoed through the empty corridor.

Tian Ying turned around first, and Lin Fei was a beat slower. Taking advantage of this moment, she ran away.

Lin Fei realized that Tian Ying had already run far away, and Liang Yanzhe had arrived in front of him.

"Did you come to warn me?" Lin Fei crossed his arms, adopting a defensive posture.

Liang Yanzhe: "Let's go get our luggage."

"Why are you taking your luggage? Do I know you? You're just my grandfather's student, right?" Lin Fei took two steps back.

A helpless sigh escaped his lips: "Feiwen, you know that's not what I meant."

She had traveled halfway around the world to find him, not to argue. Putting aside her anger, she walked towards the room.

Tian Ying had already prepared her luggage. Liang Yanzhe took it from her, told her to rest well, and then took Lin Fei upstairs.

"Liang Yanzhe, I went too far with what I said that day. I apologize to you." Lin Fei walked behind Liang Yanzhe, and some things that were difficult to say came out naturally.

When they met again, she could sense that Liang Yanzhe had changed.

He remained gentle and refined, yet his heart was as still as water, possessing only a cold tenderness.

She tried to correct her mistakes, only to find that her language skills were extremely inadequate.

“Your performance has met my expectations, and I will no longer avoid your questions.”

"You...don't compare me to them."

He listened in silence the whole way, then swiped his room card to open the door before speaking his first words: "Come in."

Lin Fei entered the room and stood in the middle of the entryway, blocking the way: "I never thought of giving up on you, and you... don't give up on me either, okay?"
