University student Qin Xiaoyu died with deep regrets, betrayed by a scumbag. Reborn, she finds herself in the body of a 25-year-old young widow with depression and two children, living in the 1980s...
“They’re biased,” Tang Xiuqin said angrily.
"All parents are the same; just as ten fingers are not all the same length, children are also different in their parents' eyes. When I was little, I was always left at my maternal grandmother's house. My grandmother was busy playing cards every day and was too lazy to cook. One summer vacation, my parents took me to the city. I had never seen breakfast laid out on the table before: bread, milk, and fried eggs. It was for my younger brother. I ran out crying..."
Unconsciously, Qin Xiaoyu recalled her past life, sat up, and became immersed in her memories. Tang Xiuqin listened intently, remaining silent.
"At the time, I felt that I could never forgive them, never. But now I think, they are still my closest relatives, aren't they?"
"No! I am your closest relative."
Hanhan suddenly interrupted her, pounced on her with a domineering air, and hugged her neck tightly. Qin Xiaoyu was caught off guard and couldn't move.
Qin Xiaoyu was stunned for a moment, then immediately hugged Hanhan tightly. Yes! This was the person she was closest to.
Her arm was twisted hard, and when she turned around, her younger sister was looking at them with a serious expression.
Before she could speak, the younger sister lunged forward and forcefully squeezed between her and Hanhan.
Qin Xiaoyu chuckled to herself; her younger sister was jealous.
Qin Xiaoyu couldn't sleep again that night, worrying about her younger sister's illness. If she didn't get it treated while she was still young, it would interfere with her schooling later on, and she couldn't let her child's life be ruined. But given the current medical conditions, she feared the local hospitals weren't advanced enough to treat mental illnesses. What could she do?
A thought suddenly struck her. She remembered the books by foreign psychologists that Tang Wenwen had mentioned. Could she find them at the library? She would try tomorrow.
Monday is the quietest day at the barbershop. When Mr. Wang heard that she needed a library card, he rummaged through the drawers and actually found a small green book with a plastic cover.
"I set this up a long time ago. Back then, I was interested in studying the technology and wanted to borrow books from the library, but I only lasted two times before giving up."
Qin Xiaoyu took the photo and saw that Master Wang in the photo had short hair that reached his ears and looked much younger than he does now.
"Will this be okay for me?" Qin Xiaoyu asked worriedly. She had no choice; she couldn't get a library card without a letter of introduction from her workplace.
"It's alright, just say it's not a photo from this year, who can look closely!" Master Wang was bold, and seeing that there were no customers, he told Qin Xiaoyu to hurry back.
The library wasn't crowded on Monday. Qin Xiaoyu had to ask around for a while before she learned that academic books were on the third floor. The books were all on shelves inside and not publicly accessible.
You need to check the catalog outside and write down the book number and title before you can look it up. Qin Xiaoyu searched for a long time, but there weren't many psychology books, so she could only borrow two to read for now.
She copied down the book title and ISBN and handed it to the window.
"These kinds of books require a letter of introduction from your organization," the administrator said immediately after glancing at them.
"Why?" Qin Xiaoyu hated the letter of introduction.
"These are professional books, and there are very few of them. If you lose them, you can't buy them anywhere else, so they are only available for professionals to borrow."
The administrator glanced at Qin Xiaoyu, clearly not treating her like a doctor.
"I only read it because I needed to. Who would use a book to start a fire?" Qin Xiaoyu's tone was a bit sharp.
"Let me see your library card." The librarian was annoyed by the retort and wanted to know what organization she worked for.
Qin Xiaoyu didn't want to cause trouble for Master Wang, so she dawdled and refused to take out her library card.
"What's wrong with you, comrade? Do you even have a certificate?" The administrator ignored the people queuing next to him and stared intently at Qin Xiaoyu.
"Yes!" Qin Xiaoyu had no choice but to take out her certificate and wave it in front of her in an annoyed manner. The administrator was quick-witted and snatched the certificate in a flash, flipping it open to take a look.
“Dongfeng Barbershop…” She looked at the photo at Qin Xiaoyu, frowned and said, “This isn’t you, is it?”
"Why isn't it me?!" Qin Xiaoyu panicked and tried to snatch back her library card. The librarian stepped back, raised his hand, and carefully examined the personal information on the card.
"Hey comrade, lying isn't good. You didn't find this certificate, did you? Everyone who applies for certificates is over fifty. How old can you be?" The administrator was really going at it with Qin Xiaoyu.
Qin Xiaoyu really wanted to throw away the library card and run away, but then she thought about it again. Master Wang said that there was a deposit on the card. If she threw the card away, wouldn't she be throwing away the money as well?
"Um, this certificate belongs to my master, I borrowed it. Give it back to me, I don't want to borrow any more books."
"You're really something, always talking about 'yours,' one minute saying it's yours, the next saying it's your master's. How can anyone trust you?" The administrator smugly picked up a red stamp, slammed it hard on the certificate, and said, "It's void!"
"What's wrong with you! You just invalidated it without even asking what happened?" Qin Xiaoyu was holding back her anger, and finally snapped. Anyone would be furious. She just wanted to borrow a book, and after all this trouble, she got her library card invalidated. How unfair is that?
"What's wrong with this woman?"
"I was caught borrowing books with someone else's ID."
"Hurry up, we've been waiting in line for ages."
The people in line began to stir, and their words became increasingly offensive. Qin Xiaoyu could only accept her bad luck and walked away from the window dejectedly.
"It really is you! Are you trying to become invincible, sister-in-law?" The person who spoke was sarcastic, what a waste of that face.
Qin Xiaoyu glared at Zhou Xing resentfully. If it weren't for Tang Wenwen's sake, she would have slapped him across the face.
"Your sister-in-law is quite something, she's reading psychology books, and even the original texts?" Zhou Xing noticed the book list Qin Xiaoyu had thrown out the window.
"Yes, I want to see. What's wrong with that?" Qin Xiaoyu turned around and glared back at him.
