Rebirth: Let's Talk About 1984

According to reports, this story begins at an entirely unscientific moment: Zhou Ziye, a designer who rose from creating counterfeit mobile phones, suddenly time-traveled back to the year 1984.

...

Chapter 26 I'm not looking for a relationship.

Xing Baohua, with a shifty look in his eyes, observed his surroundings and, sure enough, spotted several people pointing and whispering in their direction.

"Why did you compose a song for me?" Su Ya asked, sobbing.

"When did I compose a song for you?" Xing Baohua was taken aback. He was completely bewildered by this.

That sounded irresponsible, so Su Ya punched him, annoyed that he wouldn't admit it.

Xu Shuai has already spread the song about the braided hair, but he still claims it wasn't braided for her. He won't admit it to her face, isn't that infuriating?

“No, when did I ever say I composed a song for you? We need to make that clear. Is that why you’re crying?” Xing Baohua asked.

"It's the song you composed for me, don't deny it? I'm crying, not because of this." Su Ya stopped crying, but her nose was still twitching.

"Then what is it?" Xing Baohua was still wondering what had gotten into him. It wasn't right for the girl to keep crying like this!

"He won't let me date you?" Su Ya said.

Xing Baohua was completely dumbfounded, his eyes wide open as he stared at Su Ya's pretty face, which was streaked with tears.

Countless questions flashed through my mind.

Who is "he"? Is he Suya's father or a relative?

I remember last time I told Su Ya I liked her, meaning I wanted to be in a relationship. Didn't she reject me?

My friends in my small circle all know about this; we don't have any emotional connection anymore. We still have work-related interactions as colleagues, but that doesn't mean we can date.

“Who said that! Tell him they’re not dating, and they probably won’t be,” Xing Baohua said, watching Su Ya’s reaction.

"Hou, Hou Liwei, he won't let me date you." Su Ya finished speaking, head down, continuing to sob.

Well, now that he heard that, Xing Baohua understood everything.

Hou Liwei must have misunderstood that there was something going on between Su Ya and him, and Su Ya and Hou Liwei should not have confirmed their relationship as rumored outside.

It seems that Hou Liwei is still pursuing Su Ya, but Su Ya has apparently rejected him.

Moreover, it put Hou Liwei in an awkward position, making him jealous and causing Hou Liwei to direct his anger at him.

"Stop crying. Look at the people around us, they're all pointing and whispering. Let's go somewhere else to talk." Seeing that there were a few more people around, Xing Baohua took Su Ya's hand and left.

On the way, Xing Baohua angrily said, "Damn Hou Liwei, you really think you can control everything and even people's marriages and children? Don't worry, don't be afraid of him, I'm here."

The two left hand in hand, amidst the gazes of a few people, many of whom were still whispering among themselves.

Su Ya's face immediately flushed slightly again, her tears stopped flowing, and her sniffling ceased. She was then pulled along by Xing Baohua.

Xing Baohua understood why Hou Liwei had been picking on him lately; it turned out he was extremely jealous.

"Don't cry anymore. I'll go talk to him about it later. Even though we're not dating, it's not Hou Liwei's business," Xing Baohua continued. Whether he and Su Ya were dating was their own business; if Hou Liwei interfered, that would be a different story.

"No, don't go. I don't want you to bother him," Su Yawei said softly, her face flushed.

“We have to talk to him about this and get things cleared up. You’re not anyone to him, so we can’t expect Hou Liwei to tie you down with just a word,” Xing Baohua said.

"So, you still like me?" Su Ya asked, her chin almost touching her chest.

"Well, well, everyone likes beautiful women, and I'm no exception." Xing Baohua suddenly didn't know what to say and tried to brush it off casually.

It's not that he doesn't want a girlfriend or anything, the key is that this era doesn't allow for promiscuity. If society were a little more open-minded, you'd see him surrounded by women.

As the great author who wrote Julia Romeo once said, "All love that does not aim at marriage is immoral."

Chairman Mao also quoted this passage when discussing the issue of marriage between young men and women.

This is an officially certified statement.

These days, relationships are serious matters. You can't just mess around under the guise of dating. Back in 1983, we dealt with quite a few people like that.

Many people try to exploit loopholes in the law, but is it easy to do so?

Xing Baohua had spent over forty years cultivating his skills to finally suppress his youthful impetuosity. He wanted to wait a few more years before messing around.

Is Su Ya pretty? Yes, she is. She's the undisputed beauty of a large company with seven or eight thousand employees.

But Xing Baohua dared not get involved; if they were to walk together, how many eyes would be watching?

Besides, this girl is only 19, such an innocent young lady.

Xing Baohua could ruin this girl with a little scheming.

He is no longer the Xing Baohua who confessed his feelings to Su Ya.

Seeing Su Ya pouting, Xing Baohua said, "I do like you, but I've just started my career. Yes, I've just started my career. I can't let romance interfere with my career."

"You call that your shop a career?" Su Ya pouted, finding Xing Baohua's definition of a career rather amusing.

“I’m a full-time employee now, to be honest. But frankly, I’m a scumbag too,” Xing Baohua continued.

Su Ya stopped pouting and started thinking about what Xing Baohua meant by "scumbag".

"To be frank, I like you, but only for your body." That's the truth, but it sounds distorted.

What kind of era is this?! If someone overhears his vulgar talk, just one report could land him in serious trouble.

"You, you pervert!" Su Ya slapped him in embarrassment and anger.

"You know my true nature." Xing Baohua puffed out his chest and took the small punch. Surprisingly, it even made his heart feel numb.
