Shen Heng, the village bully of Shili Village, has a fierce and intimidating persona.

To everyone's surprise, his newly wedded little wife is not afraid of him at all. In fact, she keeps ...

Chapter 231 A Thousand Sails Pass by the Sunken Ship

Bai Jiaojiao looked around the school with curiosity, while Shen Heng forgot about the little incident that had just happened. Walking beside Bai Jiaojiao, he suddenly remembered a line of ancient poetry from his Chinese textbook.

A thousand sails pass by the sunken ship; ten thousand trees bloom before the withered tree.

After his period of reflection, he experienced a significant upgrade in his social standing, moving up to a new level.

They went to Bai Jiaojiao's dormitory because she was the first to arrive and could choose her bed first.

"Take your household registration booklet over and make a copy later. I'll come back and collect it once everyone has arrived."

Hou Zhilin then said a sentence, and took a dormitory registration form: "Fill this out and give it to the dormitory manager. I have to rush back to receive other people. I'm leaving now. If you need anything, come find me."

Aunt Qin waved her hand from the side: "Go ahead and do your thing, I'll take care of them."

Hou Zhilin walked away with his back hunched over, his silhouette making it look like he was running away.

Aunt Qin's smile widened, and she looked at Shen Heng and teased, "You're lucky, but you still have to worry about someone stealing your wife every day."

Bai Jiaojiao didn't expect Aunt Qin to raise her eyebrows and joke about this. She blushed and said, "Aunt Qin, there's no such thing."

Shen Heng snorted and laughed: "I'm not afraid of anything. Anyone who dares to try and steal it will see what happens."

"Yes, that's how it should be!"

Aunt Qin laughed as she finished speaking, and Shen Heng pinched Bai Jiaojiao's waist when she wasn't paying attention.

"Alright, hurry up and fill out this form. I'll hand it in for you in a bit. You guys hurry up and tidy up your bunks."

Aunt Qin was worried that Bai Jiaojiao's personal belongings would be difficult to pack while she was there, so she took the initiative to make an excuse to leave.

Bai Jiaojiao filled out the dormitory registration form, and after Aunt Qin left, the two of them began to pack up.

Bai Jiaojiao's dormitory has eight beds and a large table in the middle where people can sit on all four sides. Although it is a bit crowded, each dormitory has a private balcony.

Bai Jiaojiao chose a lower bunk bed near the balcony and then began tidying up her bedding.

They placed the down comforter they had brought from home at Bai Jiaojiao's place, and Chen Heng said, "This dormitory isn't very warm."

This dormitory is on the north-facing, shady side, so it doesn't even get any sunlight.

They kept the stove lit for a long time, but it was lifeless and didn't provide much warmth.

"A little bit, it's not as warm as walking outside." Bai Jiaojiao made the bed, chose a cabinet, took out her clothes and put them inside. There wasn't much to tidy up, she just wiped the cabinet and bed frame before putting things away.

Aunt Qin lingered outside for a while. After the two finished packing their things, they saw Aunt Qin talking to the dormitory manager.

"I'm not going to talk about that anymore, we still have a college student here who needs to register."

Aunt Qin could chat with people wherever she went, and the dormitory supervisor was reluctant to see her go.

By the time Shen Heng finished reporting for duty, it was already noon. No matter what, Aunt Qin insisted on inviting them to lunch at the cafeteria.

"If you're eating here, you don't need to bring your own lunchbox. Our cafeteria provides plates. But if you're taking food out, you'll have to use your own."

Aunt Qin was indeed very hospitable, but since she was treating, Shen Heng didn't eat to his heart's content. After seeing Aunt Qin off, the two of them went back for another meal.

"There must be a problem with the heating in your dormitory. I'll go with you to take a look later."

Shen Heng just went to his dormitory. Although it wasn't very warm inside, it was much warmer than Bai Jiaojiao's dormitory.

"Okay, it would be best if this could be resolved."

After finishing their meal, the two returned to Bai Jiaojiao's dormitory. Since it was the freshman registration day, men could register and go in with female students.

When they returned, they found someone in the dormitory.

The person looked to be about the same age as Aunt Qin. She was wiping the windowsill of the dormitory with a rag.

"Hello," Bai Jiaojiao tentatively greeted.

Upon hearing this, the people in the dormitory immediately put down their rags and looked up: "Hey! Hello! Are you in this dormitory too?"

"Yes, this is my bed."

"My name is Shu Manling, and I am your roommate."

Shu Manling wanted to reach out and shake hands with Bai Jiaojiao, but when she found her hands were wet, she didn't want to wipe them on her new cotton-padded jacket, so she withdrew them.

"My name is Bai Jiaojiao."

Bai Jiaojiao was glad that she hadn't said much. The ages of this year's candidates varied, and it was quite normal for there to be an age difference of eight or ten years.

Shu Manling has a slight hunchback, and from a distance, she looks much older. Only when Bai Jiaojiao gets closer can she see that although there are some brown spots on her face from sun exposure, her skin is still quite firm.

"Did you just arrive? Have you eaten yet?" Bai Jiaojiao asked.

"I was just thinking of tidying up our dorm room first. I noticed there's some dust on the windowsill."

Shu Manling looked very efficient and hardworking. Bai Jiaojiao had only tidied up her own shop, but Shu Manling had helped tidy up the entire dormitory.

Bai Jiaojiao felt a little ashamed and said, "It seems there's something wrong with the stove in our dormitory. I tried to light it for a long time this morning but couldn't. This is my husband; he came over to help take a look."

"That's great! I couldn't get the stove lit either. I thought I just didn't know how to do it."

Shu Manling smiled at Shen Heng as well.

Shen Heng nodded and began to ponder their stove.

Bai Jiaojiao stood to one side, watching Shen Heng study.

"It's blocked. I'll go ask the dorm manager to borrow a tool to clear it."

Chen Hengdao.

After he left, Shu Manling said to Bai Jiaojiao, "We've really gone to so much trouble for you. If it weren't for your man coming to help, this stove would have been a real problem for us."

"Even without him, we can just ask the dorm manager to send someone to fix it," Bai Jiaojiao said modestly.
