Chapter 1000: Getting Married (1/2)

The next morning, Sister Liu got up early, tidied herself up, put on the face mask that had been given to her the day before, and had just finished putting on her new clothes when firecrackers went off at the door.

Xiaoyu pushed Old Man Guan in a wheelchair, followed by Li Mancang, Wu Zhiqi, Li Mantun, Liu Cuihua, Lao Er, Chunni, Lao San, Su Mo, Da Laba, Zeng Laixi, Bai Qiancheng, Jiang Fen, Aunt Yuan, and Guan Bo's family.

The neighbors were still asleep when they heard the commotion, so they quickly got dressed and came out to see what was going on.

Sister Liu came out to greet me, "Why are you here so early?"

"My grandpa's a celebrity now, so if he comes out earlier, there will be fewer people around," Xiaoyu said softly.

Today, Old Man Guan was wearing a dark red Tang suit, a black wig, and bleached dentures; he looked very energetic.

"My dear wife, I've come to pick you up," Old Guan said with a bright smile.

"Okay, let's go now." He had originally wanted everyone to go in and have some water, but it wouldn't be good if people saw Old Man Guan looking for his wife.

"Aunt Liu, is there anything you need?" The second and third sons stepped forward to help.

"Take two new quilts from the bed, and those bags too, that's all you need." Sister Liu quickly went into the room to make arrangements.

"Sister Liu, you look really good today, you look much younger!" the loudspeaker joked.

"I had my hair and face done," commented Wu Zhiqi, a long-time customer.

"I'll get it done at your shop, it's so expensive I couldn't sleep well last night," Sister Liu said with a smile.

"You had it done at my shop, Aunt Liu. Didn't you mention me? If you did, I'd give you a 50% discount," the third brother said with a grin.

"Oh my god, I'm really at a huge loss!" Sister Liu slapped her thigh and laughed.

Third brother: "Next time you mention me, I'll give you a broken bone."

"Get lost! Don't talk like a human being on such a joyous occasion. Hey, give my wife a card from your place, so she can go whenever she wants, without spending any money," Old Man Guan said rudely.

"Don't talk nonsense. It's not easy for people to run a business. They have such big expenses. I'm so old, why would I go?" Sister Liu quickly stopped her.

"My dear wife, you should go when you should. You're getting old, but you're still beautiful, and it's not like we don't have the means," Old Man Guan said with a hearty voice.

"Aunt Liu, this old man has money to burn. He can spend whatever he wants. I'll give you his card, and he'll give me the money. I'm sure I won't lose out," the third brother said with a grin.

Old Man Guan, with his dead fish eyes, said, "You brat, I'm getting married, and you give me a card, and you're asking me for money?"

Third brother: "Even close brothers should keep clear accounts."

Old Man Guan: "Give me back everything I gave you!"

"What did you give me? I don't know anything about it," the third brother said, trying to deny it.

"Hey, you little ingrate, you ingrate!" Old Man Guan laughed and scolded.

Sister Liu felt like she was back in the old days when they lived together in the same courtyard.

Outside, Wu Zhiqi was distributing candy to the neighbors.

The neighbors looked at Old Man Guan with curiosity. "Why is he still in a wheelchair? Is he disabled too?"

Wu Zhiqi quickly explained, "No, I broke my leg, but it's almost healed. I'm not paralyzed, and I'm in good health."

"That's good. At his age, it's good that he's healthy. He shouldn't end up like his son's father-in-law," the neighbor said, grabbing a handful of candy and stuffing it into his pocket. It was all chocolate, expensive candy. This old man was well-off; no wonder Sister Liu was willing to spend over a thousand yuan to dress herself up.

Wu Zhiqi glanced into the room and asked in a low voice, "Is Sister Liu's son here again?"

The neighbor scoffed, "That couple comes every day. The day before yesterday, their daughter-in-law even got into a fight with Sister Liu, and we helped chase her away. They came again last night, staying until midnight. That couple is awful and wicked; they're no good. Sister Liu can't count on that son at all in the future."
