Reborn in the Apocalypse, Starting Survival by Hoarding Goods

A sudden torrential rain plunges the entire human world into an apocalypse.

Li Xiao, who had just been reborn into this world, discovers she possesses a spatial ability.

With a mindset ...

Chapter 12 Accident

Much of the grain here has been soiled, which breaks Li Xiao's heart. In some shops, rice and flour bags are overturned on the ground, grain is scattered everywhere, covered with layers of black, unidentified liquid, all mixed together, creating a complete mess.

Half of the sales area in front of the store was wasted, which can be imagined to be due to the impact of the "war". The chaos and panic at the beginning of the apocalypse were the biggest reasons.

I glanced at the front, taking what I could and not wasting time on what I couldn't. The main focus was the back warehouse; that was where the real stuff was. The warehouse was piled high with bags of rice, flour, and oil.

With a wave of his hand, the tall pile of grain disappeared.

The situation was similar at each establishment; all had suffered some damage, but the warehouses were all intact. The strange thing was, after so long, they hadn't found a single living person. Whether there was no one here at all, or if everyone had turned into zombies, remained unknown.

They didn't spare a single rice shop; with so many zombies here, leaving them would be a waste. Although the warehouse here isn't large, and each shop is the same size, the total number adds up to a considerable amount.

The rice, flour, and cooking oil received from the space will all be piled up in one place, the same area where Li Xiao previously stored grains. Just think about where to put them, and the same items will all be grouped together. This is very convenient; there's no need to put them in a mess or have to clean them up little by little.

The harvested grain is now automatically sorted into the grain area without you even having to think about it, which is incredibly convenient and fast.

Seeing the granaries empty one by one filled her with immense satisfaction and a great sense of accomplishment.

After we finished looking at the grain store, we moved on to the shops in the middle.

After exploring this half, head to the other half, then south, and finally you'll return to the east exit. That's a complete loop, covering everything.

They were neatly arranged, one by one. The shops inside were smaller than those on the outer ring, but the layout was the same. No matter what kind of goods you wanted, just wave your hand. All kinds of underwear—men's, women's, children's; all kinds of socks—long, short, low-cut; all kinds of milk—sour, sweet, plain; all kinds of biscuits—filled, crispy, sweet and savory…you name it, they had it. Every brand, every package—you name it, they had it.

The market is large and offers a wide variety of goods, making it a must-visit place for people. Everything one needs for daily life can be found here, making it the top choice for ordinary citizens. Of course, those seeking a higher quality of life are another story.

This greatly enriched Li Xiao's savings; she could never have too much. The quality of the goods didn't matter; who would care about that later? Being able to eat and use them was good enough. At this point, no one cared about the quality of life. Survival was the fundamental issue; everything else was secondary.

The pots and pans used in the south might not be as elaborate in the apocalypse, but they're still needed for cooking. Just because we don't need them now doesn't mean we won't need them in the future. There's still space to store them all; let's put them away.

Rice bowls, soup bowls, plates, food containers, coal stoves, alcohol stoves, hot pot stoves… a dazzling array of things, so many and varied. Let's put them away first and sort them later. Many of the bowls and plates are quite beautiful; in the past, many people would have bought them simply because they liked them. Indeed, pretty things are more appealing.

After looting the last few grain stores, we reached the eastern exit. There were significantly more zombies here than at the western exit.

They swarmed around her the moment they smelled the scent of a living person. They didn't even give her a chance to catch her breath.

It's almost 4 o'clock now, and it will be dark soon, which will be much more dangerous. The zombies can still move around; they don't need eyes to see, they only need their sense of smell to find living people.

Humans are different; darkness restricts their freedom of movement. Without sight, darkness itself can bring fear and unease, creating an inexplicable sense of awe and repulsion towards it.

In a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies, the night is even more dangerous.

She had to leave before nightfall.

A large number of zombies roared and charged toward her. She summoned the large rock again, and it landed in the middle of the zombies with a "thud".

The streets are teeming with zombies. Where did they all come from?

The closer you get to the market, the worse the stench gets. Flies and insects swarm in the air, and the sound of their wings flapping fills your ears.

Mosquitoes have also mutated, growing much larger. Now mosquitoes are the size of quail eggs, and flies are almost the size of ping-pong balls.

Looking at the dark, overcast sky above, I couldn't help but feel my hair stand on end and a chill run down my spine.

After several days of fermentation, the vegetables, fruits, fish, and meat in the market have all rotted and spoiled. Now the temperature is rising sharply, and although the weather hasn't cleared up, it remains humid and muggy, making it a perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes.

Li Xiao had planned to check out the condiment section of the vegetable market after finishing the wholesale market there. The condiment section was located just inside the vegetable market; the entire street there sold kitchen seasonings. In the future, these things wouldn't be produced anymore, and without them, cooking wouldn't taste as good.

Looking at the hordes of zombies and the swarms of flies, going inside was probably out of the question. The stench, so strong even with a mask on, assaulted you like a violent storm.

There are too many zombies; we can no longer conserve our energy to wait for them to gather before smashing them. Ignore everything else, unleash more stones and keep going…

The sight of howling, menacing zombies and swarming flies and mosquitoes extinguished any desire to go further.

Just as she was about to leave, a sudden, loud scream rang out—

Suddenly, all the zombies on the street fell silent, except for the flies buzzing in the air.
