A friend of Xu Yanfeng met an acquaintance at a hotel.
That acquaintance was none other than Xu Yanfeng's girlfriend from university, who was now a thing of the past.
The two greete...
Xu Yanfeng was standing outside the car waiting for someone. When he saw Xia Xi coming from afar, the corners of his lips couldn't help but rise.
But Xia Xi seemed to be worried about something. She walked slowly, her head slightly lowered, like a wilted plant. She almost walked past him, but she still didn't notice his presence.
Xu Yanfeng pursed his lips slightly, walked forward and grabbed her wrist. She came back to her senses and saw him, and instinctively curled her eyes.
"What are you thinking about?" Xu Yanfeng's eyes scanned her face carefully inch by inch.
Xia Xi was afraid of being discovered, so she smoothed the hair by her ear and said, "I'm thinking... I have a lot of homework to do, and my hands are about to break from writing."
Upon hearing this, Xu Yanfeng pinched her fingers and still looked down at her.
Xia Xi's heart was beating fast. She pursed her lips and asked, "What's wrong?"
Xu Yanfeng hinted cryptically: "We haven't seen each other for several days."
Xia Xi nodded. It had been several days. She had been living in a trance for the past few days, as if she were in another world. Only when she spoke to him could she escape briefly.
Xu Yanfeng scratched her cheek with his fingertips, feeling inexplicably annoyed. Where had her cleverness gone? Why couldn't she understand his hint?
In the past, after not seeing each other for several days, she would run excitedly from a distance, throw herself into his arms like a cannonball, hug him and ask for a kiss. But today she was too quiet, unusually quiet.
Furthermore, during the few days they'd been apart, she hadn't contacted him once. He'd always texted and called her, and she'd always been slow to respond. He'd thought it might be because her grandmother was ill, and she'd been focusing her energy on caring for her. This thought made him feel better.
Xu Yanfeng simply made it clearer: "Why don't you say things like 'you won't hug me' or 'you won't kiss me' anymore?"
Xia Xi was stunned for a moment, and finally understood where his awkwardness came from. It turned out that he thought she was not enthusiastic enough.
She smiled, hugged his neck, and kissed him on the lips. There were people around, so she was very restrained in her kiss. She joked in his ear: "Xu Yanfeng, you are so clingy."
Xu Yanfeng's eyebrows moved slightly, and he patted the back of her head lightly: "You don't like it?"
"Who said I don't like it?" Xia Xi smiled, her eyes sparkling. "I like it very much."
The faint trace between Xu Yanfeng's brows disappeared. He thought... he thought her interest in him had diminished, so the joy of meeting her was not as strong as before.
She was increasingly able to affect his emotions.
This is not a good thing.
The gap created by the contrast will make him torture himself.
Xu Yanfeng sighed softly: "Get in the car."
The two got into the car, Xu Yanfeng fastened her seat belt and helped her fold up her rolled-up collar.
The joyful mood was short-lived. The smile in Xia Xi's eyes had already disappeared. When she thought about the things at home, her heart was filled with depression. She felt like she was torn in two, half happy because of Xu Yanfeng, and half upset because of those unresolved matters.
Xu Yanfeng started the car, but still felt that something was wrong with her: "Why are you so absent-minded?"
Xia Xi touched his forehead and lied not very well: "I went home, the temperature is different, and I have a cold."
"Have you taken the medicine?" The car slowed down and Xu Yanfeng touched her forehead. He was so concerned that he did not doubt her words.
"I don't have a fever." Xia Xi said, "I've already eaten, but I'm not fully recovered yet."
Xu Yanfeng canceled his original dinner location and changed to a restaurant with lighter cuisine.
Looking at the dishes on the table, Xia Xi felt a sour taste in her heart. As she ate the tender and delicious mushrooms and asparagus, she smiled and said, "Mm, delicious."
Xu Yanfeng attributed her abnormality to the cold that hadn't healed yet. When people are sick, they are indeed listless and less energetic. He picked up some vegetables and poured soup for her, his voice gentle and clear: "If you like it, eat more." As he said this, he fed her a chopstick of vegetables and said, "It's nutritious."
Xia Xi sat very close to him. Upon hearing his words, she rubbed her head against his shoulder and said, "You are so nice."
He took out a tissue and wiped off a small piece of vegetable leaf from her lips, then asked softly, "Are you going to stay at the apartment tonight?"
Xia Xi sat up straight, having just stuffed a piece of meat into his mouth, half of his cheek was puffed up. He stared at him without saying a word, but silence was more powerful than words at this moment.
Xu Yanfeng smiled helplessly, pointed his finger at her forehead and pushed it: "What are you thinking about? I didn't mean that." He is not a beast. She is not feeling well, so how could he have any bad thoughts?
Xia Xi chewed the food in her mouth and swallowed it. It was no wonder she was overthinking it. Ever since they had a real relationship, she couldn't help herself every time she went to his apartment. Not only did he want it, she also longed for it.
"But I have classes tomorrow morning." Xia Xi said, she was reluctant to part with him, "Then you have to take me back to school tomorrow, I'm afraid I won't be able to get up."
Hearing the first sentence, Xu Yanfeng thought she was going to refuse, and his heart sank. After hearing the second sentence, his heart lightened up again: "Okay."
*
It was impossible to sleep in two rooms. After taking a shower, Xia Xi got into bed and automatically moved towards Xu Yanfeng.
Xu Yanfeng had long been accustomed to it, so he naturally pulled her into his arms and tucked the corner of the quilt in: "It's been a cold snap lately, so keep warm. It's still too early to wear thin clothes."
Listening to his nagging that was comparable to that of an elder, Xia Xi muttered, "The coat I'm wearing today has a fur lining, so I'm not cold."
Xu Yanfeng patted her back with a soft, gentle voice, "Go to sleep."
Isn’t it too early to go to bed now? Xia Xi blinked, it seemed that it was not yet ten o’clock.
She turned his face over, propped up half of her body on her elbows and kissed him. The ends of her hair fell into the crook of his neck, brushing back and forth with her movements, making him feel itchy and hot.
