Bu Ling, a vagabond from the apocalypse, transmigrates to a fictional seventies era. She faces a hellish starting difficulty. After a month of playing nice, she eventually sends off all of the orig...
If you asked her to do it, she probably wouldn't be able to pull it off, after all, she's been a city girl for two lifetimes.
Buling was lost in thought and didn't notice that Sangshen was winking at someone—an older man she had met once before.
After browsing the black market, their hands were full of things, so they didn't continue browsing outside, mainly because it was too cold.
Back home, Sangshen rolled up his sleeves and got to work. He planned to steam lots of buns and mantou for Xiao Hei Niu to take to the military region tomorrow.
Firstly, he wanted to remind the little girl of her father-in-law by seeing the object; secondly, he wanted his brother-in-law to feel obligated to feed him. He was calculating his options thoroughly, yet outwardly maintained an expression of wanting what was best for Bu Ling.
After thinking about it, Bling decided to let him be. Whatever he thought, she would be the one to benefit anyway.
So, that afternoon, Aunt Lan was at home, smelling the delicious aroma wafting from Bu Ling's house. She was drooling while simultaneously complaining about Bu Ling's ostentatious displays of wealth. She also had to comfort her grandson and criticize her daughter-in-law; she was incredibly busy.
Buling was also considerate; after steaming the first batch of buns, she gave one cornbread bun to each household in the front yard, explaining that she was going home for the New Year the next day and asking them to help look after their houses.
Everyone accepted the steamed buns and readily agreed, feeling a little embarrassed. They also gave Buling some of the New Year's gifts they had prepared—not much, just a token of their appreciation.
Buling didn't refuse and readily accepted everything, including the gifts from Aunt Lan's family.
To be honest, I don't know what Aunt Lan was thinking. You could say she's a good person, but she does disgusting things; you could say she's a bad person, but she hasn't done anything particularly bad, and she keeps trying despite setbacks. In Bu Ling's opinion, she's quite amusing, at least much better than Aunt Shen in the backyard.
