Bu Ling, a vagabond from the apocalypse, transmigrates to a fictional seventies era. She faces a hellish starting difficulty. After a month of playing nice, she eventually sends off all of the orig...
Time moved forward at its own pace. This day, the eighth day of the twelfth lunar month, was a rare sunny day. It was the day that Li Feng's family from the backyard set off for their aid project.
He registered in the southernmost place, a hundred and eight thousand miles away from Hebei Province.
Early in the morning, there were sounds of moving coming from the backyard, so Buling got up too. After a quick wash and breakfast, she opened the door, and Aunt Tian from next door poked her head out and saw Buling.
"Xiao Bu, why are you up so early?"
"Ugh, I got woken up and couldn't fall back asleep, so I just got up. Aunt Tian, don't you have to go to work today?" Usually, Aunt Tian would already be at work by the time Bu Ling woke up, so why is she still here today?
"I'm off today," Aunt Tian said, her joy evident in her expression.
"Why don't you rest a little longer instead of getting up so early?"
"I'm getting old, I don't need much sleep anymore, and once I'm awake, I can't fall back asleep."
The two women, Mr. and Mrs. Hetian, chatted idly as they walked side by side toward the backyard.
In the backyard, Li Feng rented a handcart and packed all of his family's belongings, including clothes and bedding, onto it.
He sold all the larger pieces of furniture to his neighbors nearby. Knowing he was unlikely to return, they didn't haggle; they bought them as long as the price was reasonable and paid quickly.
He sold the rest of the items that the neighbors didn't need to the residents in the next yard. In short, the backyard is quite lively now.
People were moving furniture, watching the commotion, and Li Feng's family of four were also there.
When Bu Ling and Aunt Tian arrived, they saw Jiang Shengle carrying a chair toward the east wing. The two exchanged a glance, both seeing the speechless look in each other's eyes.
Jiang Sheng is a strange fellow. His head is practically green with envy, yet he's always cheerful and even has a good relationship with the fish that Widow Liu keeps.
Li Feng stood expressionless at the doorway, watching the lively scene in the backyard. He felt no emotion whatsoever; he was leaving soon and wouldn't be returning, so reputation didn't matter anymore, and he couldn't be bothered to pretend.
As for his three children, dressed in thin cotton clothes, they were tidying up the now much emptier house.
Seeing this, Bu Ling curled her lip. Having such a father was incredibly unlucky for Li Yu and her siblings. In this freezing weather, Li Feng himself was dressed warmly, while his own daughter and son were dressed in such rags. Did he really have no shame now that she was about to leave?
Li Feng wasn't well-liked in the compound because he always put on airs of an intellectual and lectured the other men his age, so everyone found him annoying. But now he's leaving...
The men who were still at home also came to see him off, helping to move some furniture and exchanging a few words of farewell. There was supposed to be a sentimental goodbye, but seeing Li Feng's deadpan expression, everyone unanimously skipped that part.
I just said a few innocuous words and helped out a bit.
Aunt Tian then quietly found Li Yu and her two siblings, took out two yuan, and stuffed it into the little girl's pocket.
Seeing the little girl's surprised look, he made a shushing gesture: "Don't let your dad know, and be careful with your money, you and your brother."
She herself was struggling financially and couldn't afford much money, but after all, it was a child she had raised under her own nose.
Li Yu pursed her lips and hid the money in her bosom. "Thank you," she whispered. She knew she shouldn't accept it, but she really needed it. She would definitely repay Grandma Tian in the future.
Aunt Tian smiled kindly at her, then quietly returned to Bu Ling's side.
Seeing this, Bling said nothing.
After waiting for a while, Sister-in-law Mo also quietly went to Li Yu's place. When she returned, she sighed and didn't say anything.
Aunt Wu, Aunt Zhao, the two sisters-in-law from the Qian family, the eldest daughter-in-law from the Jiang family, and even Wu Yuanyuan all secretly went to see Li Yu.
Finally, following the crowd, Bu Ling also slipped a dollar to the little girl. Seeing this girl easily reminded her of the original owner of this body, so she considered it an act of good karma for the original owner.
They were all neighbors, and they all knew what kind of life Li Yu and her siblings were living. They didn't want to offend Li Feng, the technician at the factory, so they turned a blind eye, only occasionally helping him out.
Now that they're all leaving, I don't know what the future holds for the three siblings. They're the children I've raised; I'll help them as much as I can.
However, their family isn't well-off either; they only have two or three yuan at most, which adds up to more than ten yuan. That way, they can use it in case anything happens.
Li Yu touched the eleven yuan tucked in her pocket, remembering every person who came by. She would tell her younger brothers that these were their benefactors.
A warm glint flashed in her eyes. Noticing her father's glance, she quickly lowered her head, feigning indifference to conceal the ruthlessness in her eyes.
It's not the right time yet; she's still too young.
Li Feng glanced at the house he had lived in for over a decade, now empty, as if he had returned to the time when he and his wife had first moved in, and it was just as empty then.
However, his mindset was completely different. He turned around without hesitation, locked the door, handed the key to Aunt Wu, and then said to everyone, "I am grateful for the care of all my neighbors over the past ten years. I hope we can meet again someday."
He bowed to the crowd and called to the three children, "Li Yu, take your younger brothers and push the cart together."
Li Yu, holding her two younger brothers' hands, silently walked to the cart. Li Feng pulled from the front, while the three children pushed from behind, as they walked together towards the front yard.
Seeing this scene, some of them, whose eyes were easily moved to tears, couldn't help but feel sad when they saw Li Feng like this. Even though they usually found Li Feng incredibly annoying, seeing him like this made them feel involuntarily heartbroken.
Parting is always sad.
