Chapter 161 New Year's Eve

Jiang Yuan couldn't explain it out loud, so she just said vaguely, "Just buy it and eat it slowly."

She took her phone and went up to the second floor. As she walked, she sent a message to Yin Dong, "I received the New Year's gifts. Thank you."

Not surprisingly, she didn't receive a reply from him.

On New Year’s Eve, before the New Year’s Eve dinner began, Yin Dong returned to the old house.

In the courtyard, the servants had hung up more than a dozen red lanterns early in the morning, and pasted Spring Festival couplets and blessing characters on the door and window glass. At first glance, the whole house was immersed in joy and peace.

As Yin Dong walked into the main hall with something in his hand, he heard Sun Mei talking: "Do you think he's lost his mind, letting a young girl in her early twenties bewildered him? I've met that girl, and to be honest, she's not bad looking and well behaved, but she's stubborn and won't listen to anyone."

The one who responded to her was Qin Pei, Yin Dong's aunt, "Don't be anxious, I heard what Xiaodong meant..."

"I haven't eaten yet. I'll give you some more dishes. I brought some roast goose that you like for Auntie."

Yin Dong put the insulated lunch box in his hand on the table and turned to look in the direction of Sun Mei and Qin Pei.

Sun Mei rolled her eyes at him, "How dare you come back?"

Yin Dong: "I'm afraid you'll be worried."

Yin Zhengting: "You're back just in time. The dishes haven't been served yet. Please sit down quickly."

Yin Dong glanced at Yin Zhengxian who was sitting in the main seat. Yin Zhengxian didn't look up at him, but his attitude was one of tacit approval.

Yin Zhengting and his wife have only one little daughter who is studying abroad. She went to the Arctic for the New Year and couldn't come back. Fortunately, Yin Dong came back, and the family was able to have a reunion dinner together.

After dinner, everyone drank tea in the living room. Yin Zhengting and Yin Zhengxian sat on the main seat on the sofa and talked in low voices. The Spring Festival Gala was playing on TV. Sun Mei and Qin Pei exchanged some gossip in the circle while watching TV.

When the clock hands turned to 9 o'clock, Yin Dong glanced at his mobile phone and clicked on the familiar avatar. The message in the dialog box was still stuck on the stereotyped "thank you" in the afternoon. Today was New Year's Eve, and she didn't even call him to wish him a happy New Year.

Yin Dong walked out of the main hall with his cell phone, came to the flowers in the yard, and called her.

The phone rang several times before her voice came.

"Hello"

Yin Dong: "Do you still remember me?"

He said something out of the blue, and Jiang Yuan was stunned.

Yin Dong: "Have you forgotten about me?"

Jiang Yuan sat up from the bed, her mind suddenly clear. She was mentally exhausted the whole day and she really had forgotten about him. It was New Year's Eve, the second day after she separated from him. She should at least call him and express her longing for him.

"No, I was planning to call you at 12 o'clock to wish you a happy new year."

Jiang Yuan can now tell lies with ease.

"Why don't you wait until next year's New Year to worship together?"

He said something to her in a bad mood, but she didn't say anything else.

Yin Dong kicked the flowers at his feet and asked calmly, "What are you doing?"

Jiang Yuan: "Nothing, just going to sleep."

On the reunion night when every household was celebrating and having fun, she and her mother went back to their rooms and went to bed early amid the deafening sound of fireworks and firecrackers.

Yin Dong heard the inexplicable weariness in her voice, and his voice sank: "What happened?"

Jiang Yuan was surprised by his sharpness. She was silent for a second and then said, "Nothing, I just miss my dad."
