Time flies and it is the seventh day of the first lunar month.
That day, Zheng Wenjing finished breakfast and rode the family bike out the door. Her younger brother, Wensheng, ran out of the house and shouted, "Sister, don't forget to bring me the Journey to the West comic book when you come back. I've finished the one about havoc in heaven. I need the one about the Three Strikes on the White Bone Demon. Don't buy the wrong one."
"Got it." Zheng Wenjing waved his hand and rode his bicycle out of the alley without looking back.
She rode her bicycle all the way to the film studio. She felt it would be awkward to go empty-handed, so when she passed by a grocery store, she went in and bought a pound of wrinkled oranges.
The storage technology of this kind of water chestnuts is not very good. When the water chestnuts are kept in winter, most of them are no longer fresh. Even the oranges with wrinkled skins cost a lot of money per pound, which is almost as much as the price of meat.
After arriving at the film studio, the gatekeeper was a man about 10 years old. Seeing that Zheng Wenjing was unfamiliar, he reached out and stopped her, asking her, "Miss, who are you looking for?"
Zheng Wenjing slammed on the brakes, jumped off the bike, held onto the handlebars with both hands, and said with a smile, "Uncle, my name is Zheng Wenjing. I'm looking for Comrade Ji Ping from our studio. I already had an appointment with him, and he should have told you in advance."
"Ji Ping. I know. He told me in advance." The security guard said, "Then please wait outside for a while. I'll call him out from inside."
"Okay, thank you."
Zheng Wenjing waited outside the film studio for about ten minutes, until her feet became cold, and then she saw Ji Ping coming out with the security guard behind him.
Ji Ping said apologetically, "I'm afraid you must have been waiting impatiently. Comrade Wen Jing, I'm so sorry. I was busy just now and couldn't come to the office. It took you a while to find me."
"It's okay, I'm not in a hurry." Zheng Wenjing smiled.
Ji Ping said, "Then let's go in quickly."
The film studio's management was not strict; visitors didn't even need to register. Ji Ping immediately led Zheng Wenjing in. He walked in front, and Zheng Wenjing followed behind him, pushing her bicycle.
As they entered the gate of the film studio, they were greeted by a pine and cypress forest. Ji Ping took Zheng Wenjing and turned left, entering the small red building next to the pine and cypress forest.
The exterior walls of the small red building are old, but there is no trace of dilapidated air inside. The walls are painted in off-white, and underneath are brown wooden wall panels more than one meter high. The whole space looks full of literary and artistic atmosphere.
Ji Ping led Zheng Wenjing upstairs. There were movie posters on the wall of the stairs, including some well-known and famous movies.
Zheng Wenjing was dazzled by the sight as she walked up the stairs, and her eyes were almost blurry.
Ji Ping laughed and said, "These posters on the wall are all movies produced by the film studio in the past. In fact, these are only a few. During the Four Cleanups Movement a few years ago, many works were destroyed. Only a very small number of movies can be found."
"That's quite a lot." Zheng Wenjing looked around and said, "There are at least a few hundred of them just in the staircase."
"There are a few hundred, but there are a lot of duplicate posters. There aren't hundreds of movies."
As they were talking, the two of them walked up to the third floor. Ji Ping pushed open the door of an office and asked Zheng Wenjing to come in: "Come in."
Zheng Wenjing stood at the door and looked up, and found the words "Director's Office" written on the doorplate.
She couldn't help but smack her lips: "Comrade Ji, have you been promoted to production director?"
"No, I'm just an ordinary actor in the studio." Ji Ping explained, "This is my dad's office. He was sent to Shanghai for a meeting these days, and the office was empty anyway, so he let me borrow it temporarily."
"That's how it is." Zheng Wenjing nodded and walked into the office.
