Medical doctor Su Wan transmigrated to the Great Jin Dynasty. She initially thought she was in for a typical palace maid/harem drama, but soon she was married off as a bride to bring good luck by h...
Su Wan remembered all the foul language these people had just used. She wasn't going to let any of them leave until she'd stripped them bare!
The two assassins were already injured. Seeing that Wei Jingzhuo abandoned them to save people, they only wanted to take this opportunity to escape as soon as possible, but Wei Jingzhuo stopped them.
Seeing that they could not escape, they had no choice but to steel their hearts and risk their lives to attack with their swords.
"If you want my congratulatory gift, you'd better be alive to take it!" One of them winked at the other, "Let's fight!"
"Overestimating yourself." Wei Jingzhuo sneered and swung his sword to meet the two men.
After only one exchange, Wei Jingzhuo assassinated one of them.
The final assassin was the most skilled among the five. Upon seeing his companions dead, he was terrified.
The three of them were able to maintain their advantage by sticking together against Wei Jingzhuo. Just when they were about to succeed, one of them suddenly rushed to chase after Su Wan, which resulted in both of them being stabbed.
Both men were now wounded, how could they possibly be a match for Wei Jingzhuo? The last assassin managed to hold out for two more rounds before being stabbed to death with a single sword strike, joining his brothers on their journey to the underworld.
Seeing that the assassins had all been killed, Su Wan finally breathed a sigh of relief and bravely stepped out.
Granny Cui also emerged from behind the tree and ran to Wei Jingzhuo, saying with lingering fear, "Master, that was really dangerous. This old servant was terrified, but thankfully you are blessed with good fortune."
With the guard Lin Qingfeng absent, it's truly fortunate that the master, burdened by illness, has survived.
It was mainly those two bottles of poison from Miss Su at the beginning that allowed Master to easily eliminate two enemies. Judging from this, Miss Su is definitely Master's lucky charm.
Wei Jingzhuo said calmly, "It's alright."
"How dare you call me a hanged ghost!" Su Wan kicked the corpse on the ground, still angry. "Are your eyes even on the soles of your feet?"
She touched her face, turned to Granny Cui and asked, "Granny Cui, do I really look that bad now?"
The bumpy ride made her realize her makeup was definitely ruined. But with the original owner's stunning beauty, how much worse could it get?
Granny Cui carefully examined Su Wan's completely ruined makeup. Her hair was disheveled, her face was deathly pale, and the red lipstick mark had been smeared all the way to her cheekbone. If you didn't look closely, it really looked like a blood-red tongue hanging on her face.
The assassin was being too conservative.
After careful consideration, Granny Cui cautiously said, "Madam is as beautiful as a fairy. I have never seen anyone as beautiful as you. Even the most beautiful woman in the capital is not as beautiful as you."
Su Wan's lips twitched slightly.
This flattery is a bit over the top. Everyone knows that Bai Zhiyi is the most beautiful woman in the capital, but no one ever mentions her name, Su Wan.
However, she was still happy to receive others' approval. This meant that her makeup wasn't too heavy.
She tugged at Wei Jingzhuo's sleeve with a smile and asked, "Hey, what do you think?"
Wei Jingzhuo's hand gripping the sword stiffened. His cold gaze swept over her horribly pale face, and he nodded slightly, saying calmly:
"It's acceptable."
Su Wan was even more satisfied.
"I already said, it won't do if we don't give a congratulatory gift." She muttered to herself as she squatted down on the ground, rummaging through the corpse on the ground.
Upon seeing this, Wei Jingzhuo frowned and asked in a cold voice, "What are you doing?"
"Looking for silver," Su Wan said without looking at him, carefully searching through the assassins' bodies, stuffing any loose silver into her pockets, almost stripping them naked.
Finally, she straightened up and sighed, "These idiots are really poor. The five of them only managed to scrape together twenty taels of silver."
Wei Jingzhuo glanced at the silver in her hand, touched his waist, and froze.
Only then did he realize that he didn't have a single penny on him.
"Granny Cui, give the money in the house to... to her," Wei Jingzhuo instructed.
Granny Cui took out two taels of silver from her pocket and looked at Wei Jingzhuo with a worried expression: "Master, we spent a lot of money on the wedding today, and the rest was used to buy medicine for you. There's really not much money left."
Back in the palace, she never had to worry about a few taels of silver, but now she'd rather split every copper coin in half.
Wei Jingzhuo didn't speak, but just gestured with his lips towards Su Wan.
Even a mosquito bite is still meat, and two taels of silver is still money. Su Wan happily accepted it.
She looked at the five people lying on the ground and sighed deeply, "That emperor is really ruthless. Even with your son in this state, he still won't let you go. People say even tigers don't eat their cubs, but you, the father, even..."
Although the assassin didn't say who sent him, based on her years of watching dramas, she couldn't think of anyone other than the emperor.
Startled, Granny Cui quickly raised her hands and waved them wildly to stop Su Wan from continuing: "Oh dear, my little darling, be careful what you say!"
There is no one in the world who has dared to criticize the emperor so openly.
Although it was indeed wrong for the emperor to exile his master, the master was still the emperor's son after all, and they shared the same blood.
How can a daughter-in-law start badmouthing her father-in-law before even entering the family?
Granny Cui glanced at Wei Jingzhuo discreetly, and seeing that he remained calm and showed no displeasure, she breathed a sigh of relief. She didn't want Miss Su to be disliked by her master so soon after marrying into the family.
But upon closer reflection, the master's current predicament is entirely due to his own father; there is no father-son bond whatsoever.
After Su Wan finished looting, she asked Wei Jingzhuo, "What should we do with these people?"
Wei Jingzhuo didn't even glance at them, coldly saying, "These people are just the vanguard; the real assassins haven't appeared yet. We can't stay here any longer; we must leave immediately."
