He is the decisive business emperor, and she is a charming, soft, and adorable student. Due to a mistaken blind date, he and she became the closest people on the household register.
From then...
When Ni Sitian heard Qin Mubei's voice, she looked towards the door and saw him walking in holding a bouquet of flowers.
"Sitian." Qin Mubei approached, put down the bouquet, and asked with concern, "Are you feeling better?"
Xu Tingchuan came in and raised the headboard of Ni Sitian's bed slightly to make it easier for her to speak.
"Yes, much better." Ni Sitian nodded, polite yet distant: "Thank you this time."
"It's what I should do," Qin Mubei replied casually, glancing somewhat awkwardly at Xu Tingchuan beside him.
Ni Sitian, however, did not intend to let Xu Tingchuan leave, and even held Xu Tingchuan's hand.
Xu Tingchuan looked down at her, knowing that her holding his hand meant that she and Qin Mubei had nothing in common that he should avoid.
"I still want to thank you." Ni Sitian looked at Qin Mubei, and had nothing else to say to him besides thank you.
Their relationship had reached a point where too many messy things had gotten involved, making it impossible to go back to being just friends. However, Qin Mubei had indeed come that night and arranged the surgery, so a thank you was still necessary.
"No need to be so polite." Qin Mubei knew that Ni Sitian had nothing to say to him, so he paused for a moment and then said directly, "Besides visiting you this time, there is another matter."
As he spoke, he took out a red invitation and handed it to Ni Sitian.
Ni Sitian frowned slightly and did not reach out to take it; instead, Xu Tingchuan took it from the side.
Qin Mubei then looked at Xu Tingchuan and said, "I would like to invite you to my engagement banquet next month."
Ni Sitian was in a bit of a dilemma. He had helped her just two days ago, and now she couldn't refuse as confidently as she had been during that phone call.
She was searching for an excuse in her mind when she heard Xu Tingchuan say, "Okay, we'll go then."
Qin Mubei smiled slightly, said a few more words about taking care of himself, and then left.
After he left, Ni Sitian frowned slightly and looked at Xu Tingchuan, puzzled, "Why did you agree to him? You could have just made up an excuse to refuse."
Xu Tingchuan sat down and said with a faint smile, "Consider it him returning the favor. Besides, we're going to congratulate him on his engagement so that he can give up completely. It means that he's nothing to you, that you have no grudges against him, and no extra emotions, which is why you went to congratulate him so calmly."
Ni Sitian roughly understood what Xu Tingchuan meant. Because once she truly let go and became indifferent, whatever he did would be meaningless to her.
"You've already agreed, how can I not go?" she said coquettishly, which was her way of agreeing to the matter.
She reached out and took the invitation from Xu Tingchuan's hand, flipped it over casually, and read the bride's name: "Jiang Yiyi? Isn't that the girl from that day?"
Xu Tingchuan was taken aback, his expression turning somewhat strange. "You said the bride's name is Jiang Yiyi?"
"Yeah, what's wrong?" Ni Sitian noticed something was off about him and felt a little jealous. "When we ran into each other the other day, didn't you say you didn't know the person? Why are you so sensitive about their name now?"
Xu Tingchuan shook his head and chuckled, "I just didn't expect things to happen so coincidentally. Now I finally understand why she was being sarcastic and uncooperative at the mall that day."
Ni Sitian looked at him in confusion and pressed for an answer: "Why?"
“Because she is that Miss Jiang.” Xu Tingchuan couldn’t help but laugh.
Ni Sitian was slow to react, then her mouth dropped open in surprise: "You mean she's the Miss Jiang you were supposed to go on a blind date with a few months ago?"
Xu Tingchuan nodded. There really are such coincidences in this world.
