Qin Mubei looked at the name on the screen, narrowed his eyes slightly, and swiped to answer the call.

"Hey." He casually walked towards the elevator with one hand in his pocket.

Upon hearing a male voice, Xu Tingchuan frowned slightly and said in a low voice, "I'm looking for Ni Sitian."

Qin Mubei recognized the voice as belonging to the man from that day. Her lips curved slightly, and she deliberately spoke in a flippant tone, "She's taking a shower."

Xu Tingchuan's face darkened; he had already recognized Qin Mubei's voice.

He certainly believed that Ni Sitian wouldn't cheat on him the day after he left on his business trip, but it was early morning and her phone was in her ex-boyfriend's hands, which meant they had met so early.

"Mr. Qin, you're joking." Xu Tingchuan said in a cool voice, "Please tell Sitian later that I called."

Before Qin Mubei could respond, his phone went dead.

He looked at the black screen, raised an eyebrow, stepped into the elevator, and pressed the button for the sixteenth floor.

Ni Sitian's internship position was assistant editor, which meant assisting the responsible editor in their work.

Interns are usually assigned to do some trivial tasks that are not really necessary.

She spent the whole morning doing mundane tasks like photocopying, pouring coffee, and categorizing documents, but she was quite busy nonetheless.

It wasn't until her lunch break that she remembered she had left her phone in Qin Mubei's car.

"Sitian, let's go have lunch together." Ji Xiaoyun put her arm around Ni Sitian's shoulder.

Ni Sitian looked up and saw Ji Xiaoyun, who was also an intern. She smiled apologetically and said, "I have something else to do. You can go ahead."

"Okay, then, do you want me to bring you anything?"

"Thank you, but no need." Ni Sitian shook her head. She had no appetite at the moment; she just wanted to get her phone back from Qin Mubei as soon as possible.

After Ji Xiaoyun left, she picked up the phone and dialed her own cell phone, which was answered quickly.

"Sisi, I was just wondering when you'd realize your phone was missing." Qin Mubei smiled, then said seriously, "Five minutes from now, at the Green Source Cafe downstairs."

Ni Sitian hung up the phone, her brows furrowing in confusion.

Five minutes? He's still here?

She got up, walked quickly out of the office, and went downstairs in the elevator.

When she arrived at the coffee shop, she saw Qin Mubei sitting by the window and waving at her.

She walked over, but instead of sitting down, she reached out and asked him for her phone.

"You haven't eaten lunch yet, have you?" Qin Mubei called the waiter over and ordered two set meals. Then he said to Ni Sitian, "If I remember correctly, you like tomato beef brisket rice."

"Give me your phone." Ni Sitian's face darkened.

"Sit down and have lunch with me, and I'll give it to you." Qin Mubei smiled.

Ni Sitian frowned and reluctantly sat down. His smile used to seem sunny and gentle, but now it seemed hypocritical and annoying.

She turned her head away from him and didn't say a word.

As the waiter served the food, Qin Mubei handed her the lemon tea and said with a smile, "I remember you like lemon tea."

“People’s preferences change over time.” Ni Sitian pushed away the iced lemon tea, took a deep breath, and looked at Qin Mubei, saying, “Do you think this entanglement is still meaningful? I’ve grown up, I’m not that naive little girl anymore. Can’t we just pretend we don’t know each other from now on?”

"Not good." Qin Mubei's expression turned cold. He was very uncomfortable with Ni Sitian, who had been so infatuated with him before, now looking at him with such a strange and disgusted gaze.

Ni Sitian had nothing to say to him, so she lowered her head and ate her food, wanting to finish the meal as soon as possible.

She gripped her phone tightly, turned and walked quickly, dialing Xu Tingchuan's number.
