System and I Don't Match

Chapter Twenty-One: Blood Blade

Seeing Benson's smug expression, Wu Yu's face was extremely ugly.

He believed in Jack's strength, but being outmaneuvered was a different matter. Back in the desolate city, Jack had personally stated that he was no match for a sixth-tier superhuman.

If I don't do something, Jack is definitely in grave danger this time.

But given the current situation, and considering his own abilities, the only thing Wu Yu can do is find Violet and use the ring she wears to rescue Jack.

This was Jack's plan, but now that the adventurers are too afraid to make a move, and he can't resort to force, he has no choice but to try to negotiate with Benson.

"Benson, where is Violet now?"

Seeing Wu Yu's anxious look, Benson said with amusement, "Relax, Violet is my niece after all. I'm not so heartless as to attack a relative who poses no threat. She's resting peacefully in her room right now."

"Hand her over to me, and I'll leave with my men. I'll guarantee Violet's safety; that's my bottom line," Wu Yu said firmly.

In reality, he no longer had the ability to command those adventurers, but that didn't stop him from using them to intimidate Benson.

"Ha, you think you're qualified to negotiate with me?" Benson completely dismissed Wu Yu's offer, saying disdainfully.

"Although my niece is mute and physically weak, with her beautiful appearance, there will always be some bewitched noble young men who will take a liking to her. After I become a viscount, I will use her for a marriage alliance. Do you think I would entrust such a treasure to you?"

"Now I'm giving you one last chance. Get out of my manor right now and never come back to Green Town again, and I won't bother you anymore."

"In other words, the negotiations have broken down," Wu Yu said, pressing his temples and looking a bit of a headache.

Now that Jack might be dead, Wu Yu has no intention of avenging Jack, because Jack is not important enough to him to make him lose his mind and engage in such a reckless act as revenge.

But perhaps Jack isn't dead yet, in which case I have a chance to save him.

While refusing to help someone in distress and being powerless to do anything may lead to the same result, they are two completely different attitudes. If it is the latter, Wu Yu will gladly accept it, but if it is the former, Wu Yu cannot tolerate such a despicable behavior.

But now Wu Yu is in a desperate situation. Unless he chooses to kill everyone present, he has no way of getting past Benson's obstacle.

Indiscriminate killing of innocent people goes against Wu Yu's principles. Even if it were to save lives, he would never do such a thing.

Damn it! Is there really no other way?

Jack, it seems even you can miscalculate sometimes. Wu Yu was almost in despair.

"wrong!"

Recalling what Jack had told him, Wu Yu suddenly realized he had forgotten a crucial point: Jack had consistently instructed him to capture Benson, not just any other adventurer. If the sheriff weren't present, any adventurer could easily dominate the manor. So why had he emphasized that Benson was no match for him?

"Is it a coincidence, or is everything exactly as you expected?" Wu Yu murmured softly, then looked at Benson again, revealing a confident smile once more.

Wu Yu pleaded with the adventurers around him, "You guys cover me and don't let anyone except Benson interfere with me."

Layton looked at Wu Yu, who still hadn't given up, with surprise and doubt, and nodded. "We can do these things. Do you want to challenge Benson alone?"

“That’s right,” Wu Yu replied, then drew his sword, pointed it at Benson, and said arrogantly, “Sir Sheriff, my friend attacked civilians to protect me, which shouldn’t be illegal.”

“It’s not illegal, but if you attempt to attack Baron Benson, depending on the severity of the offense, you could even be sentenced to hanging. You’d better think carefully,” the sheriff warned.

"Oh? Sheriff, it seems you're not planning to get involved in this matter?" Wu Yu asked.

"I'm only a first-tier warrior, I can't stop you, but don't even think about escaping when it comes to settling accounts later." The sheriff said with an indifferent attitude, and he even picked up the red wine next to him and poured himself another glass.

“No problem. It’s all about winning or losing. I trust Jack. Since he arranged for me to come here, as long as he wins in the end, he’ll definitely have a way to get me out of here.”

“If he loses,” Wu Yu said, pausing for a moment, but quickly added confidently, “I also have my own way of getting out of this.”

"What a boastful tone!" Benson slammed his hand on the table and stood up, glaring angrily.

"Wu Yu, it seems you've got me cornered. I've also been investigating you these past few days. A sword master, right? Jack always likes to befriend extraordinary people like you. But unfortunately, swordsmanship can't make up for the absolute difference in strength. I don't need anyone's help today; I can crush you just the same."

"Give me the sword," Benson ordered his servant, and a fine iron sword was brought to him.

Benson stepped forward, sword in hand, and assumed a defensive stance. "Today I'm going to show you just how foolish it was for Jack to trust you."

"Heh." Wu Yu sneered and said with emotion, "There may be many people in this world that I can't beat, but there are really very few that I can't kill."
