Wen Chu inexplicably transmigrated into a world where the plot development was random but the overall style was melodramatic. Her mission was to conquer the male lead of this world—Lu Ming.
Chapter 63 A Visit
Wen Chu had nothing to do after waking up the next day. As usual, Wen Heng scolded her and then went to the company, usually not returning at noon.
With no one to play with, she could only listlessly follow the servants to trim the flowers, plants, and trees in the courtyard.
In reality, living such a life would be incredibly pleasant.
Unfortunately, she still needs to figure out how to increase Lu Ming's favorability and quickly break through the threshold.
It was almost noon, and she was arranging the pruned leaves and flowers into a heart shape when she suddenly heard the housekeeper run over from the front yard and say to her parents, who were sitting in the front living room having tea, "Sir, Madam, young master Lu Ming from the Lu family has arrived!"
Wen Chu was taken aback and immediately stood up. Her gaze passed through the living room and lobby to the front door, where she could only see a black SUV parked in the distance.
A familiar figure stepped out of the car. Instead of wearing a formal black suit, he wore a crisp short-sleeved white shirt with what appeared to be delicate embroidery on the chest, black trousers, and a slightly different hairstyle. He looked clean and refreshing, harmless, and his aura was much less intense than usual.
Why is he here?
Wen Shiyang didn't seem surprised by this, and snorted, "He came earlier than I expected. Tell him to come in, and have the kitchen hurry up and prepare a meal. Also, take out the wine from the second-to-last shelf, third compartment of the wine cabinet."
"Okay!"
After speaking, Wen Shiyang acted as if he hadn't seen the person walking over and continued fiddling with the tea set in his hands.
Lu Ming walked into the living room carrying something in each hand, and nodded to the two men, saying, "Uncle Wen, Aunt Yang."
"What brings Mr. Lu here all of a sudden?" Wen Shiyang asked knowingly.
Lu Ming said respectfully, "This time, thanks to Wen Chu's help, Baiyue was able to win the competition. I didn't ask for your opinion beforehand and decided to let Wen Chu help me. It was my oversight. I came here today not only to thank you, but also to apologize to Uncle Wen and Aunt Yang."
He first opened the brocade box in his left hand, revealing a deep blue porcelain bottle with a lustrous glaze lying quietly on the velvet lining. It was clearly a valuable item: "I heard you have a passion for antiques. This is a Song Dynasty Ru kiln celadon-glazed string-patterned bottle that I acquired by chance. I hope you will like it."
Wen Shiyang glanced at it, suppressing the amazement in his eyes, and neither said it was good nor bad: "It's quite thoughtful, keep it."
Lu Ming put it down and opened another long brocade box. He was about to say to Yang Lan, "At the auction earlier, I saw a Song Dynasty ink painting. I'm not very knowledgeable about it, but I know that according to research, it was Wang Yu's last work after he started practicing Zen in his later years. I wonder if Aunt Yang will like it."
As he spoke, he handed it to Yang Lan. Yang Lan's eyes revealed an undisguised interest. She took the scroll, unfolded it, and exclaimed softly, "It really is a genuine work by Master Wang Yu!"
Wen Chu put down the scissors in her hand, leaned over the middle door frame, and peered out to gather information. The green plants placed next to the door provided her with cover. When she saw Lu Ming's extravagant gesture, she opened her mouth in surprise, wondering what he was up to.
She only helped him with a competition, did she really need to spend so much money? Isn't this a loss for her?
Is Lu Ming so afraid of offending her parents? Then why did he dare to reject her so forcefully before?!
"Do you think that if you send me these things, my anger will subside and I can let this matter go?" Wen Shiyang said with a cold face.
These are not the focus today.
Lu Ming bowed slightly again: "I know I have been presumptuous, but I only wanted to make up for my mistake. I hope Uncle Wen and Aunt Yang will forgive me. If there is anything I have done that is not good enough, please tell me and I will definitely correct it."
Looking at the person in front of him, whose attitude was completely different from that of a month ago, Wen Shiyang picked up his purple clay teacup and took a sip of tea: "Besides this matter, is there anything else you came here for today?"
Wen Shiyang glanced back out of the corner of his eye and knew that his daughter was definitely eavesdropping somewhere.
Lu Ming pursed his lips, hesitated for a moment before saying, "The responsibility for this matter lies entirely with me. It was my oversight. Wen Chu was only trying to help me. I hope Uncle Wen will not blame her anymore."
“I think her problem is that she can’t judge people, can’t distinguish friend from foe, and likes to do things for others.” Wen Shiyang glanced at Lu Ming. “It’s been almost a month since your affair with her started, and it’s not going to cause any more trouble. As for you, since you don’t have those kinds of feelings for her, we won’t force you. Before it becomes public knowledge and hard to handle, you should break it off now. And stop putting on an act in front of others.”
"I..." Lu Ming felt a surge of nervousness. Before he could speak, Wen Shiyang asked again, "Did Wen Chu sign a labor contract with your company?"
"yes."
"Take a look at how much the penalty is, I'll give you the money directly, and after that, our two families will go our separate ways." Wen Shiyang knew how much the penalty was, but he was betting the kid wouldn't have the nerve to say it. "You go and talk to her for me later, be harsh, tell her not to work for you anymore, fire her. That way she won't bother you anymore, right?"
"Besides, she used to live alone outside, and I was always worried about her. I really can't let her have her way in everything. From now on, I plan to bring her home to live with me, so that it won't cause you too much trouble. You can rest assured."
After hearing this, Lu Ming tightened his grip on his hands at his sides, looking hesitant to speak.
Wen Shiyang glanced at him sideways: "What? Do you have a problem with that?"
"Yes." Lu Ming raised his head and said seriously, "I came here today because there is something else I would like to ask for your and Aunt Yang's opinion on."
Wen Chu was too far away, and Lu Ming's voice wasn't loud. She strained her ears to listen, but she couldn't make out what he was saying, and she couldn't see his lip movements very clearly either.
After Lu Ming said something, her parents exchanged a meaningful glance, the atmosphere seemingly tense. Had this guy said something infuriating again? It seemed best for her not to walk into the line of fire.
Let Lu Ming bear this blame alone.
She continued to peek. Her father's expression was serious, as if he was questioning something, which made Lu Ming look anxious and troubled, and his body tensed up. Then he said a long speech.
What exactly did she say that made Lu Ming so flustered?
The situation is getting serious...
She tapped the doorframe anxiously in thought when she suddenly heard Wen Shiyang call her name: "Wen Chu!"
The other person had already stood up and was looking towards the middle gate.
Startled, Wen Chu quickly ran out the door and raised her hand, saying, "Yes!"
"Wash your hands and eat!"
"Okay!"
Is that all?
She responded, then slowly jogged to Lu Ming's side, secretly bumped his shoulder, and asked in a sneaky whisper, "What are you doing here?"
Lu Ming said in a low voice, "Can't you tell? Apologize."
"That's so kind of you! Has my dad forgiven you? He even invited you to stay for dinner, so everything should be alright now, right? Can I go back right away?"
"not yet."
"No?? Then what were you whispering about for so long?"
Lu Ming glanced at her, his expression complicated.
"Your dad wants you to move back in from now on."
"I also want you to leave Baiyue."
"Huh??? How did the conversation get worse and worse! What did you say to my dad? Did you try to upset him again, saying you'd rather die than be with me?"
Lu Ming said regretfully, "No."
"What happened? I was planning to go back tomorrow!"
"What are you still standing there for? Come and eat!" Wen Shiyang called out to the two of them from the dining table.
"Coming, coming!" Wen Chu walked over with a long face, not knowing why.

Author's Note: Wen Shiyang: You little brat, you keep calling me Uncle Wen all the time, but then you turn around and start playing the victim and tattling, huh!
