Chapter 343 Stupid Without Realizing It

Since checking in last night, the so-called staff of the Academy of Sciences have been pitifully few.

The entire mountain, or rather the entire Eternal City, is like an empty shell with the name of a city.

Cheng Shuang closed her eyes and began to recall the trajectory of the first passerby she encountered when she entered this place, who was flying on a sword, and the few other scattered encounters she had made afterward.

As these images replayed in her mind, the little girl's face suddenly turned grim.

The pedestrians, who appear to be coming and going, are all walking along the same route, a route that is visible to all of them overhead.

When it comes to games, anything is possible.

All NPCs are managed by the system. If there is one that is particularly disobedient, that is called a bug.

Du Jun and Sun Han seemed to have thought of something. Apart from Han Meimei, whose face was streaked with tears as she watched Li Lei without making any rash moves, the three protectors all looked very bad.

"Welcome to the eternal new world." Bai Xiuzhi smiled faintly. "Or to put it another way—welcome to my world!"

This drew even Han Meimei's attention back. She stared at Bai Xiuzhi in horror, as if she were looking at a lunatic.

Bai Xiuzhi didn't care about her gaze, only staring at Cheng Shuang and the other two. If it were true, Bai Xiuzhi probably already knew that they were different from the local natives the moment they stepped into Eternal City.

That's why he insisted on letting Cheng Shuang, who seemed to be the weakest, stay in that single room. He wanted to test just how capable these different people really were.

Cheng Shuang looked at Bai Sha and saw that her eyes were calm but with a hint of melancholy. She didn't seem to care much about him or feel any anger. Cheng Shuang immediately realized that what happened yesterday was just a play staged by Bai Xiuzhi and Bai Sha to deceive them.

"I have a question I'd like to ask, and I wonder if Dean Bai could kindly explain it to me?" Sun Han said with a smile.

Just as Bai Sha was about to speak, Bai Xiuzhi stopped her. Bai Sha stared blankly at Bai Xiuzhi, but when she saw that he was looking at Sun Han, she understood and stepped back.

Bai Xiuzhi's clear voice was as beautiful and pleasant as a mountain stream. "I also have a question. How did you get in?"

"I don't know!" Sun Han shrugged. "This question is too profound, like the question of how humans came to be. We are slowly exploring its mysteries, and these things can't be rushed!"

Bai Xiuzhi smiled. "What do you want to ask me?" He nodded politely to Du Jun and Cheng Shuang. "There are three of you in total, so you can ask three questions."

The little girl puffed out her cheeks; she knew this tactic. They could ask, but he didn't say he would definitely answer.

"How is the outside world?" Du Jun asked.

“A natural disaster that would make it impossible for humans to survive!” Bai Xiuzhi said. “As for the specifics, I have no access to them, so I don’t know.”

"How can we get out of the game without you stopping us?" Cheng Shuang asked.

Bai Xiuzhi smiled casually, "Kid, it's not good for someone so young to be so cunning! You have two questions! Heh, why should I stop you? What do I care if you want to seek your own death!"

"Let me give you a piece of advice: there were people just as naive as you back then, and they all came back in a panic!" He turned his head, his handsome and harmless face facing the white veil, like a kind boss seeking the opinions of his subordinates, approachable and democratic. "Don't you agree?"

Bai Sha's face tightened. "You're right!"

Han Meimei exclaimed, her eyes widening slightly as she suddenly remembered, "You're that... Mad Doctor, the Mad Doctor from back then!"

The woman in white ignored her completely, but it was precisely this attitude of neither admitting nor denying that revealed her identity.

“Then, let me ask the last question.” Sun Han subconsciously pushed up his glasses, the real touch making him pause for a moment. Under Bai Xiuzhi’s slightly urging gaze, he spoke, “How are we going to get out?”

"Ha! Foolish!" Bai Xiuzhi raised his chin. "You don't even know how to get out, yet you expect me to answer?"

Han Meimei immediately retorted angrily, "How dare you play me like this! You're supposed to be the dean of the entire Academy of Sciences, yet you're a liar and a complete scoundrel!"

If Sun Han was considered foolish, then Bai Xiuzhi looked at Han Meimei as if she were an idiot. He clicked his tongue and said, "I didn't expect you to be so saintly. Are all people with the potential to awaken consciousness this kind of kind, yet foolish without realizing it? None of their three questions were about you and your stupid boyfriend, yet you're standing up for them."

"Our affairs are none of your business!" Han Meimei retorted without mincing words. "Do you think you're the dean, and everyone is your subordinate? You're so young, yet you meddle so much!"

Bai Xiuzhi didn't care about such trivial gossip, but his ears twitched as if he heard something behind him, and he instinctively wanted to turn around to look.

Cheng Shuang unconsciously gripped Du Jun's sleeve tightly. Because there was a white veil watching them, she didn't dare to glance at the small brown figure running ahead. In her heart, she wished she could run for the little bear.

Han Meimei was even more anxious than her, and almost did something irreversible.

"You're too arrogant!"

A shout distracted Bai Xiuzhi, and his gaze finally fell on the emotionally charged Bai Sha beside him.

Cheng Shuang and Han Meimei felt a little relieved and quickly adjusted their expressions to avoid Bai Xiuzhi noticing anything amiss.

Bai Sha seemed to be enraged by Han Meimei's attitude, glaring at her and shouting, "This is not a place for you to run wild, get out of here right now!" She took a step forward and warned firmly, "Otherwise I won't be polite!" With that, she reached for her walkie-talkie.
