A post-90s female military doctor on night duty wakes up to find herself transmigrated to the 1970s, becoming an educated youth's wife.
After accepting reality, she works hard with her hu...
As dawn broke and a light mist still shrouded the village, the busy day had already begun. Today was a crucial day for the road construction project. Lin Yue had gotten up very early. Standing at the village entrance, she gazed at the road under construction, fraught with difficulties, her eyes filled with both determination and worry. She knew that this road was the village's path to development, but the challenges before her were like insurmountable mountains.
Lin Yue wore a simple long-sleeved shirt, the cuffs slightly rolled up, revealing her slender yet strong arms. Her hair was simply tied in a ponytail, a few stray strands blowing in the morning breeze and clinging to her slightly tired cheeks. She had been worrying a lot about the road construction lately, and faint dark circles appeared under her eyes. But her eyes remained bright, sustained by her unwavering belief in the village's future. Beside her, Chen Yu held a notebook, recording various matters and problems related to the road construction project. Chen Yu was burly, wearing a dark work jacket, his white T-shirt underneath slightly damp with sweat. His brow was furrowed as he intently studied the notebook, seemingly pondering solutions.
"Lin Yue, there was another problem on the western section of the road yesterday. The terrain is too complicated, and even the excavator is having trouble operating it, so the progress has slowed down considerably," Chen Yu said with a frown. His voice was a little hoarse, revealing a hint of fatigue and anxiety.
Lin Yue took a deep breath and said, "Let's go take a look. We need to find a solution; we can't let the progress keep dragging on." Her tone was firm, and a resolute glint flashed in her eyes. She lifted her foot and walked westward.
When they reached the western section of the road, the scene before them was disheartening. On one side of the road was a steep hillside, jagged with rocks that posed a constant threat of landslides. On the other side was a deep ravine, overgrown with weeds, the faint sound of flowing water audible. The excavator struggled to operate on the narrow road, the driver carefully maneuvering the machine, trying to dig a smooth roadbed. But each shovel strike hit hard rock, sending sparks flying.
"What can we do? At this rate, who knows how long we'll have to dig?" A worker looked at the scene before him, shaking his head helplessly, his face covered in dust and sweat.
Lin Yue walked to the excavator, carefully observed the terrain, and said to Chen Yu, "We need to clear these rocks first, otherwise the excavator won't be able to work properly. We can have some villagers use tools to break up the smaller rocks and move them away, and then we'll figure out how to deal with the larger ones." Her eyes were focused on the rocks, and she was quickly thinking of solutions.
Chen Yu nodded, turned to the workers, and shouted, "Don't rush, everyone. Let's split into several groups and work on these rocks. The young and strong ones can handle the larger rocks and try to pry them up with crowbars." His loud and powerful voice echoed through the valley, bringing a glimmer of hope to the workers.
The villagers responded enthusiastically, quickly dividing into several groups to begin their work. A young villager picked up a crowbar and began to pry at a large rock, veins bulging on his arm as he shouted, "One, two, three!" But the rock only wobbled slightly. "This rock is really stubborn!" he said, wiping the sweat from his brow and panting heavily. An older villager nearby smiled and said, "Young man, don't rush, let's work together." He then joined in prying the rock. Working together, they finally managed to move the large rock a little, and then slowly rolled it to the roadside.
Just as everyone was working hard to clear the rocks, bad news came from the supply transportation. The truck driver responsible for transporting building materials rushed over and said anxiously, "It's bad, the bridge leading to the village was partially washed away by the heavy rain a few days ago, the trucks can't get through, and the materials can't be delivered." His eyes showed worry, and he kept gesturing to show the extent of the damage to the bridge.
Lin Yue's heart sank. She knew that if the materials supply couldn't keep up, the road construction would come to a standstill. "Let's go check on the bridge. We must find a solution as soon as possible," Lin Yue said, and she, Chen Yu, and several villagers hurried towards the bridge.
Upon reaching the bridge, they saw that a section of the once sturdy stone bridge's foundation had been washed away by the flood, leaving a large gap in the bridge deck through which the river water flowed swiftly. Lin Yue frowned, pondering a solution. "Could we build a simple wooden bridge first, enough for small vehicles to pass?" a villager suggested.
Chen Yu shook his head and said, "The current is too strong. The simple wooden bridge might be washed away, which isn't safe. Besides, we need to transport a large amount of building materials, and the wooden bridge can't withstand that." He looked at the river, his eyes revealing a serious expression.
At this moment, an experienced villager said, "We can try to find a shallow area downstream and open up a temporary transport route to bypass this bridge." Lin Yue's eyes lit up upon hearing this: "That's a good idea, let's go take a look."
So they walked downstream along the riverbank, looking for suitable shallows. After some searching, they finally found a relatively shallow and flat area. However, the ground there was quite soft and needed to be reinforced to support the weight of the vehicles.
“We can pave a path here with sandbags and stones, and then reinforce it with planks,” Lin Yue said. The villagers immediately sprang into action; some went to move sandbags, some to collect stones, and others went back to find planks. Everyone worked together, busily working on the shallows.
During this process, a young villager accidentally slipped and fell into the river, the water instantly submerging his head. The surrounding villagers cried out in alarm and rushed to his rescue. A villager who was a strong swimmer jumped into the river without hesitation and swam towards the drowning young man. After some effort, they finally pulled him to the surface. The young man had choked on some water and was a little pale, but he still smiled and said to everyone, "It's okay, it's okay, everyone keep working." His resilience moved everyone present.
