As the young lady of a top luxury family, Jiang Hexi was sent to a farming reality show to experience life after losing a billion in investments. Accompanying her in farming were four super-rich se...
What does "cut off completely" mean?
Director Chen was hurt by these words and said angrily, "The production team will discuss and evaluate the content that violates the rules, and decide what content should be cut and what content should not be cut."
Yan Jie then asked him, "Director Chen, was the boiled egg at noon delicious?"
Director Chen couldn't answer this question directly, since the free-range eggs from Canglang Village were a brand, not just those from their own family, and he couldn't afford to ruin the villagers' livelihoods.
"I think it's a bit pricey."
"Just tell me if it tastes good or not."
Director Chen spoke only after careful consideration:
"The eggs from free-range chickens in the mountains are delicious, but they are a bit expensive. After all, the wholesale price is what it is, so it feels a bit overpriced."
Yan Jie immediately turned hostile and forcefully ordered, "Please have the post-production staff cut this part out when the program airs on satellite TV."
The staff outside were all dumbfounded. What was going on here?
Director Chen almost yelled out loud, demanding that his scenes be cut—how could that possibly save face for him as a director?
Why cut it off?
"Director Chen endorsed free-range eggs from Canglang Village and maliciously inserted advertisements during the live broadcast, violating the program rules. Shouldn't such content be cut out?"
"When...when did I ever endorse an advertisement?!"
"Director Chen, you can't be so double-standard in your work."
Yan Jie coldly retorted, "You saying that free-range eggs from Canglang Village are delicious isn't product placement, but when we say that free-range eggs from Canglang Village are delicious, it's product placement. If the production team follows such double standards, then this rule is better off not existing."
As soon as these words were spoken, the viewers in the live stream overwhelmingly supported the five chaebol members:
[One cut and it's all gone, Yan Jie's words are just too venomous!]
[Director Chen, Director Chen, you ate the egg whites for lunch, how come you haven't learned your lesson at all? You're facing the King of Hell and you still dare to fight him? His heart is black!]
[Yan Wang is my god, I'll be obsessed with you, crazy about you, and I'll bang my head against the wall for you!]
[My brother could easily rely on his looks, but he chooses to conquer everything with his talent. Hmm, another day of being completely captivated by him.]
[Director Chen: It turns out the clown was actually myself. Capitalists are indeed all cunning!]
[We, as viewers, have the most say in whether we can have more product placements like this.]
Director Chen emphasized that this was a reality show about labor, and then casually concluded the matter by saying that he would not easily cut out the real interactions.
After the live broadcast ended, the production team held an emergency meeting.
The program's purpose is to let the second generation truly experience rural farming life. Debt is what motivates them to work. Everyone unanimously voted that they must not be allowed to take shortcuts or make huge profits through any form of "live-streaming e-commerce," otherwise this farming variety show would lose its meaning.
After reaching this consensus, the creative team began revising the rules overnight.
The lights in the dark room didn't go out until 2 a.m.
The morning mist dissipated, and the darkness was so thick that not a single ray of light could be seen. A car headlight swept across from afar as it approached.
The village chief slowly drove his electric tricycle into the courtyard, and as soon as he got off, he went straight into the houses, knocking on each of the first-floor doors:
"Get up and get to work in the fields!"
"You two young ladies upstairs, you have ten minutes to wash up. Hurry up, or I'll have to go upstairs and ask someone for help."
"Hurry up, hurry up! There are still over a hundred acres of land at the village entrance waiting for you to plow. I'll be furious with anyone who's late!"
The village chief waited impatiently in the living room for a while, and then the five people came out one after another.
Unlike their energetic selves yesterday, the five of them were clearly still half asleep today. They yawned listlessly, looking utterly exhausted.
The aunt hadn't had time to make breakfast, so all five of them set off on an empty stomach.
As the car swayed from side to side, weaving through villages and fields, she heard the sounds of roosters crowing and dogs barking. Through her blurry eyes, she watched as a sliver of sunlight pierced through the thick fog, finally revealing distant mountains.
It all felt like a dream.
She dozed off sleepily and fell asleep on the bumpy tricycle.
"Wake up—"
Yan Jie called her but she didn't respond, so he went along with it by saying, "Jiang Hexi, your snoring is even louder than Chu Yang's."
Jiang Hexi's soul jolted, and she suddenly woke up with a start. She said with lingering fear, "Say it again, who was snoring?"
You misheard me.
Yan Jie jumped out of the car, took a few steps forward, sat in the driver's seat, turned the handlebars, and drove the car away at high speed.
Jiang Hexi gripped the handrail tightly, asking, "Where's Wanwan? Where's Chu Yang? Where's Shen Yingyu?"
“The village chief will lead them to finish plowing the remaining forty mu of land. You and I will go to the east end of the village and borrow someone’s tractor to plow thirty mu of land.”
Yan Jie asked knowingly, "What, didn't you hear what the village chief said just now?"
Jiang Hexi slept soundly the whole way, and couldn't hear a single word aloud.
Besides, if she were awake, she wouldn't be farming with people who drive electric tricycles with such a loud whistling sound.
"Could you please slow down?"
"No, I need to shake off the paparazzi following me."
Yan Jie made a sharp turn, quickly turning the tricycle into a narrow alley. The SUV behind him couldn't brake in time and drove straight past the alley entrance.
Jiang Hexi was terrified by his actions. She gripped the railing tightly and watched him weave through the alleys before finally parking the car in front of an old shop.
As dawn broke and the streets were quiet, only one shop had its door half open, and the air was filled with the strong aroma of beans.
