Chapter 24 Wang Yue Apologizes

"I'm sorry, Chen Yu, I shouldn't have done that. It's all my fault. I'm so glad you're alright." Wang Yue looked at Chen Yu sincerely. Chen Yan, sitting next to her, was a little uneasy. He was afraid that Chen Yu would ask him why he was eavesdropping.

"Okay, I understand. Is there anything else you want to say?"

Chen Yu's response was indifferent. Wang Yue looked at Chen Yu in front of her and felt that she had changed and hadn't changed. Many words were on the tip of her tongue, but she swallowed them back. The three of them sat in silence in the living room. Li Ziyun brought out a plate of washed fruit. "Wang Yue, it's been a long time since you've been here. Have some fruit. I'm going out for a bit. You three have fun."

"Thank you, Auntie." Wang Yue looked at Li Ziyun very politely.

"Yu Yu, Mom's not home, so please take care of Brother Chen Yan, okay? Mom's going to find Dad, I'll be back soon." Li Ziyun said to Chen Yu in a consultative tone, which made Wang Yue a little envious, as her mother always ordered her around.

"Okay, Mom, I'll be back soon."

Li Ziyun left satisfied with Chen Yu's answer. She thought Chen Yu would be angry these past few days, but it seems that the two of them really are as Chen Le said. After the incident of getting lost last time, the two of them have completely made up. The problem that has been difficult to solve for so many years has finally been resolved.

Wang Yue left in less than five minutes. Chen Yu remained silent, quietly looking at her phone.

Shen Yan sat next to her somewhat awkwardly. He wanted to go upstairs, but he couldn't move around easily, so he could only sit blankly on the sofa looking around. It took Chen Yu a while to notice Shen Yan's embarrassment. "Do you... want to go upstairs to rest?"

"Hmm, it's a bit cold down there."

Chen Yu had actually wanted to go upstairs for a while, but she thought Shen Yan wanted to sit downstairs, so she could only idly play on her phone with her head down. She helped Shen Yan stand up and helped him walk forward, then helped him lie down on the bed and gave him his iPad.

"Thank you." Shen Yan thanked Chen Yu, and Chen Yu left. She went back to her room and lay down. She kept thinking about what Wang Yue had said. A lot of things had changed since she came back. If things continued to develop like this, her relationship with Wang Yue and Jiang Yang would be completely transformed. Would the three of them no longer be good friends?

Chen Yu became increasingly agitated, so she went downstairs to the balcony for some fresh air.

She really wanted to light a cigarette, but the thought of her age and how she'd be ruined if they found out was too much to bear. "Sigh," Chen Yu sighed. She simply couldn't accept such a huge change. It wasn't so much that she didn't want to deal with it, but rather that she was running away from it.

Police station.

Jiang Yuan and Lin Qi excitedly walked into the police station. They had received a call saying that the police had agreed to a settlement, but further coordination was still needed. They had prepared the money and were just waiting for Chen Kang to agree. As soon as they entered, they wanted to find Chen Kang, but they were taken away by the mediating officers and taken to the mediation room. Chen Kang and Li Ziyun did not show up all night, but instead asked their colleagues to handle the matter.

In the end, they paid a price that satisfied everyone, and the matter was over. Chen Kang and Li Ziyun drove home, and neither of them spoke a word on the way.

Jiang Yuan brought Jiang Yang out, intending to tell Chen Kang, but ended up getting a mouthful of exhaust fumes.

"Dad, I don't want to go to Shen Yan's house to apologize. I didn't do anything wrong. He's just annoying."

"You brat!" Jiang Yuan's pent-up anger finally exploded upon hearing Jiang Yang's words. He slapped Jiang Yang hard across the face, his chest heaving with rage. Lin Qi stepped forward and grabbed Jiang Yuan's hand, "What are you doing? Why hit a child when you can talk!"

Jiang Yuan angrily shook off Lin Qi's hand, "It's all your fault for spoiling him! Look at what he's become! He even dares to break the law!"

"Is this my child? Have you ever cared for him? How dare you say that to me?"

"How can I manage that? All the money-making is my responsibility!"

Did I not make any money?

Jiang Yang's mood became irritable as soon as he heard the two arguing. Jiang Yuan and Lin Qi argued almost every day in front of Jiang Yang, ever since he could remember. The sound of their arguments always echoed in his ears.

"Enough! Haven't you two argued enough?!" Jiang Yang shouted angrily at Jiang Yuan and Lin Qi.

Lin Qi and Jiang Yuan stopped arguing. Lin Qi led Jiang Yang into the car, and Jiang Yuan was the last to get in. The three of them were silent the whole way. Jiang Yang's stomach was growling with hunger. He hadn't eaten anything good while he was in detention, and he was usually a picky eater.

Lin Qi, who was sitting next to him, heard his stomach growling. She patted Jiang Yuan, who was driving in the front seat, and said, "Take our son out to get something to eat. He's gotten so thin from hunger."

"Hmm, what would you like to eat? Does our son have anything he'd like to eat?"

"casual."

Jiang Yang's response was indifferent. He wasn't in the mood to think about it and just stared out the window in a daze. He checked his phone as soon as he came out, but he found that Chen Yu hadn't sent him a single message. It was all Wang Yue who had sent messages. He felt a tightness in his chest. He had clearly vented his anger on behalf of Chen Yu, but not only did she not help him, she didn't even say a word of concern.

He opened Wang Yue's chat window, replied with a few words that he had come out, and then turned off his phone. He didn't care what Wang Yue replied afterward. All he could think about was that Chen Yu had no loyalty whatsoever.

Jiang Yang secretly vowed to himself that he would never want to talk to Chen Yu again.

Chen Yu stood on the balcony, her right eyelid twitching incessantly. She patted her right eye in annoyance, "Can you please stop twitching?"

She had just finished muttering to herself when she heard the door open behind her. It was Chen Kang and Li Ziyun returning. "Mom and Dad, why are you so late?"

"Yeah, I just finished dealing with something. Where's Shen Yan? Why isn't he downstairs with you?"
