The Supporting Female Character in a Chronicle Doesn't Do It Anymore

Ye Shuning, a Doctor of Chemistry, was struck by a meteorite and transmigrated into a chronicle novel she had read, becoming the male lead's cannon fodder ex-wife.

She just wants to stay ...

Chapter 21 Encountering a Sandstorm

When Yan Jingwen and others were looking for Ye Shuning, she woke up in a truck and found that it was pitch black all around. It must have been night.

Her hands and feet were tied tightly, her mouth was blocked by a towel, and she knew she was in a car from the feeling of her body shaking and the sound of the car.

She didn't open her eyes immediately when she heard someone talking nearby, nor did she move. Fortunately, it was night time and the people around her didn't notice anything unusual about her.

She closed her eyes and heard a man next to her say, "Let's deal with this girl as soon as possible this time. Don't make any mistakes. Otherwise, it will be difficult to explain."

Then a woman said, "Don't worry, we've already contacted them. That family lives in a desolate desert. There's no other house for dozens of miles. Once you get there, you can't escape. Even if you do, you'll easily get lost. If you stray into the desert without water or food, you'll die."

The man continued, "I don't know who this girl has offended. She actually had someone come to us specifically and even made such a request to trap us in the Northwest for life."

The woman said, "Let's not worry about it. We can both make money anyway, which is a good thing."

Ye Shuning's heart sank as she listened to their conversation. It seemed they were heading to a deserted area in the northwest, and someone was deliberately targeting her. The person behind this wanted to trap her there for the rest of her life. How much must they hate her?

Who has such a great hatred towards her?

Ye Shuning quietly opened her eyes a crack and found herself lying in the back of a truck. The tarpaulin on the back of the truck was rustling in the wind. There were several unconscious people beside her.

There seemed to be some cargo in the truck bed. On the other side of the bed sat a man and a woman. They were the ones who had just spoken.

Her hands and feet were tied, and there were people guarding her, so she had no chance of escaping. She could only look for an opportunity to escape later.

The car kept moving and did not stop to rest at night.

When the two of them were eating in the car, they didn't care if Ye Shuning was thirsty or hungry. Ye Shuning didn't make any noise and just pretended to be unconscious.

By the second half of the night, she was thirsty, hungry, and extremely cold. It was still early spring, after all, and the nights were still very cold. Furthermore, as they were heading northwest, it was definitely getting colder the further they went. Fortunately, she was wearing a cotton coat.

In the end, Ye Shuning couldn't stand it anymore and had to pretend to wake up.

The two people in the car heard the noise, turned on their flashlights, looked at Ye Shuning, and pulled the towel out of her mouth.

Ye Shuning struggled for a moment and asked, "Who are you and why did you kidnap me?"

The man shone the flashlight at Ye Shuning and said, "Don't human traffickers know this question? So you'd better behave yourself. At least you'll suffer less if you get there. Don't even think about running away, or I can't guarantee what will happen to you. No one will care what we do in this wilderness."

Ye Shuning didn't dare to move rashly after hearing the meaning of the man's words.

Seeing Ye Shuning shivering from the cold, the woman threw a torn quilt over her. It would be a waste if she got sick from the cold and it affected the price.

Ye Shuning spent the night hungry, thirsty, and cold. Her hands and feet had been tied and she had long lost consciousness, feeling even weaker. The people around her also woke up one after another. Ye Shuning saw three girls around her age and three boys a few years older. Including her, there were seven people in total.

The woman seemed to be afraid that they would get sick, so she covered them with a blanket and said, "If you all behave yourself, you won't suffer."

Some of the others didn't dare to speak, while others cried quietly.

After daybreak, the woman untied them one by one, gave them some water, and then gave each of them a piece of dry food. Their hands were untied, but their feet were still tied.

Ye Shuning moved her sore wrist for a long time, looked at the dry and hard steamed bun in her hand, touched her rumbling stomach, and lowered her head to start eating.

The steamed bread was dry and hard. Ye Shuning had to chew it for a long time before she could swallow it. Even if it scratched her throat, she had to eat it. Otherwise, she would have no strength at all, let alone escape.

There were people watching her all the time, so she couldn't take food from the institute and could only endure it.

The traffickers only gave Ye Shuning and the others a little food, just enough to keep them from starving to death. It would be safer if they didn't have the strength to escape.

The two drivers took turns driving, occasionally stopping for everyone to use the toilet. The places where they stopped were always in the wilderness, and the car never went to densely populated towns or other places.

After a few days of driving, the car began to appear sandy and the surroundings became increasingly desolate. Gradually, it seemed that the surroundings were all desert, with almost no green plants.

Ye Shuning never found a chance to escape, and she became more and more anxious.

As they went deeper and deeper into the sand, they unfortunately encountered a sandstorm.

The wind was howling and the sky was filled with yellow sand, making the sky and the earth dim. Because of the raging wind and sand, visibility was very low. The yellow sand almost buried the roads, and cars were driving very slowly.

Be careful when driving in these conditions, as it's easy to get lost without landmarks.

The man in the back of the truck cursed, "Fuck, what bad luck! We have to encounter such awful weather."

The woman also said with some concern: "This business is not easy. I hope nothing goes wrong."

The sandstorm was so severe that even though the drivers were very careful they still lost their way. They had no idea which direction they were going and in the end the drivers didn't dare to go any further.

The car was stuck in the wind and sand, and they had to wait until the sandstorm passed.

The tarpaulin on the back of the truck rustled loudly. It was a good thing they had it, otherwise they would have been buried in the yellow sand. Although they were not buried, the wind and sand made it difficult to breathe.

Their hands are now tied in front so that they can cover their mouths and noses a little more.

Because they arrived in the desert and encountered a sandstorm, several human traffickers thought that Ye Shuning and the others would not dare to escape, so they relaxed their supervision of them.

Ye Shuning felt that this sandstorm was her chance to escape, as visibility was very low and it was difficult to see clearly from a short distance.

Ye Shuning thought she could use this sandstorm to escape. As long as she was out of their sight, she would go straight into the research institute and come out after the sandstorm passed and the traffickers left.

In this vast desert, these human traffickers would definitely not risk looking for her.

Ye Shuning thought that if time went on for a long time, the traffickers would definitely arrange for them to get off the car to relieve themselves, and that would be her chance to escape.

Because the rear shed was sealed to prevent dust from entering, it was extremely dark. In the darkness, Ye Shuning secretly took out a bite-sized pudding and stuffed it into her mouth, chewing it carefully and swallowing it bit by bit.
