An African college student transmigrates into a vampire. He initially wants to live a carefree life but ends up becoming a powerful minister supporting the dragon.
This tells the story of a v...
Ars and Blaze rode to a spot where their army, nearly a hundred cavalrymen in neat formation, stood close to them on their right. Further to the right of the cavalry were a few scattered infantrymen.
“The soldiers’ morale is very low,” Blazer said worriedly, looking at the infantry. “Why must we start the war today?”
"Because someone doesn't want to die alone," Ars said with great dissatisfaction, looking at the army in the middle section. The army there was well-organized, but as for morale, it was too far away to see clearly.
Blazer was a little confused. What did he mean by "someone doesn't want someone to die"? But he resisted the urge to ask. Being too inquisitive would make him seem foolish, which was the label he most wanted to avoid.
“I saw a lot of reinforcements arriving in Donic City. This battle is not going to be easy. There are probably about a thousand people in the city right now.”
Ars shook his head. "It's not as complicated as you think. They're just bluffing. You'll see when the battle starts."
Blazer was puzzled again. If they already knew the other side didn't have that many men, why didn't they tell their allies?
As if anticipating Blazer's question, Ars continued, "We need to conserve our strength in this battle. I've already spoken to them. When the battle begins, you will lead your cavalry straight to the rear of their castle. Once there, just hold your position. Once our own camp is lit with campfires, we'll retreat. If not, you will lead your cavalry to leave here quickly and return to our own castle."
"But?" Blazer looked at Ars with concern, "What will you do then?"
"Don't worry about me, see you in Skano."
Blazer nodded. He saw a hint of determination and pain on Ars's face, but he didn't ask any further questions and rode side by side in silence.
A long, drawn-out horn call slowly rose from the middle of the ranks. Ars gave Blazer a deep look. Blazer understood, turned, and signaled the cavalry to follow him, breaking away from the main force and charging towards the rear of Donic City.
At the same time, a loud shout erupted from the central position, and the soldiers began to run towards the castle to the rapid drumbeats.
Seeing this, the Terra family immediately ordered their soldiers to charge.
Soon, the attacking soldiers surged towards the dilapidated castle of Donic like a flood.
"With so many of them charging straight at us, won't they all become our targets right under the city walls?" Yun Zhe was puzzled. He looked at Arthas and George beside him with great doubt and asked somewhat uncertainly.
"At least in terms of sheer force, they've intimidated us soldiers enough," George said with a worried expression, seeing no chance of victory at this point.
At the breach in the city wall, some soldiers from the Lunlang family had already rushed up the collapsed slope, and then he saw a scene that shocked him.
Behind the gap, there were countless large carts lined up in a semi-circle, and in the gaps between the carts were long spears and bows and arrows that gleamed coldly. Then he lost his young life.
More and more soldiers of the Lunlang family saw this strange formation, and soon they too lost their lives.
Soon, the Lunlang soldiers realized why there wasn't much of the Donic family's defenses on this most vulnerable spot. Behind the collapsed walls lay a trap that had swallowed countless lives—a true trap.
But the brother gave a death order: anyone who retreats today will still lose their life, it'll just be a little later.
So Lunlang's soldiers launched wave after wave of attacks on this position, but this small open space was not enough for too many people to deploy, and the place was exposed to firing positions from all sides.
Soon, the pile of corpses in this area was as high as the wheels of a carriage. But this still did not change the status quo of this position.
In other places, because the high walls remained in place and friendly forces contributed their efforts but did not achieve much, there was not much progress either.
The entire battlefield was completely deadlocked.
"If we have an army that rushes out now, even if it's only a hundred men, it can turn the tide of the entire battle!" Yun Zhe slumped in a corner inside the city wall and shouted loudly to Andrew, who was replacing him.
Andrew didn't turn around. "You know, there won't be a single unit. Hang in there a little longer, it'll be dark soon."
Meanwhile, Gossa selected over thirty skilled warriors and extremely strong soldiers. The stronger soldiers held large shields above their heads in one hand and smaller shields in front of them in the other, stacking the shields to form a relatively impenetrable defensive formation. Several skilled archers and spearmen, positioned on the inner flank, began their charge towards the breach that had claimed countless lives.
Behind the wagon formation lay Gao and Caroline's soldiers. The two frontline commanders were currently comparing their battle achievements. This one-sided massacre had resulted in single-digit losses for their side, while inflicting ten or even dozens of times more casualties on the enemy. This excited both commanders and gave them a more optimistic outlook for the battle.
"I never imagined war could be fought like this!" Caroline's voice was filled with barely suppressed joy. It was his first time on the battlefield, and he hadn't expected such a brilliant performance, while suffering so few losses. This greatly boosted the young commander's confidence.
"This is nothing. I told you, the last time we toyed with the Ars family, that was truly spectacular. We didn't even engage in combat, yet we inflicted heavy losses on them. Hahahaha!" Gao was also in high spirits; the enormous victory made him magnanimous.
Caroline looked up at the city wall, as if Yun Zhe were right there. "Truly amazing, this Aruru man."
