He, the Emperor of the Dark Ni...
Chapter 238 His Condition Is Not Good
"Ah Yan, let's go back. We can't save him." The younger sister pulled An Yan and motioned her to go back.
An Yan looked up at Jiaer hanging on the city wall. The broken spear head was still piercing his throat, and his eyes were still open. She wanted to take his body away, but that would mean she would be discovered.
The younger sister hugged Anyan and tried to persuade her with tears in her eyes, "I beg you to leave quickly. His body is a trap. They did this just to catch you. I believe Brother Jiaer doesn't need you to take revenge."
"He's looking at me." An Yan said calmly. She knew he would die with his eyes open.
The younger sister held onto An Yan tightly and refused to let go, saying, "Let's go."
An Yan said, "I won't take him away, but I have to do something first. You go wait for me in the carriage, and I'll leave as soon as I'm done." After that, she swung an iron claw tied with silk to the top of the city wall, then grabbed the silk with one hand and walked towards Jiaer's body. When she got close, she closed his eyes with her right hand.
And I heard someone shouting behind me: "Catch the assassin, catch her!"
An Yan jumped and flipped over onto the carriage, saying, "Little sister, drive the horse!"
The younger sister immediately rode forward, heading far out of the city. Seeing An Yan sitting beside her, she said to her, "Let's not seek revenge. Don't let Jia Er's efforts go to waste."
"I won't let him die in vain." An Yan frowned. She felt the wind was too cold tonight.
It was so cold that it almost pierced her bones. An Yan seemed to have fallen into the water, but she found herself being caught and thrown onto the shore. He smiled and said, "I told you to study harder. You're always lazy and fall into the water when you run."
An Yan found Jiaer squatting on the tree. He threw another piece of clothing over and said, "Put it on quickly, don't catch a cold. I'll take you back."
"Did I fail in my first mission?" An Yan asked.
"I've done it for you, but don't tell the truth when you go back." Jiaer smiled and patted her head, motioning her to follow him.
An Yan followed behind him and saw Jiaer in front of him turn into a shadow and then disappear.
A gust of wind blew by, blowing the peach blossoms into a flutter. Seeing Jiaer standing under the tree, he said, "You've finally grown up. You don't need me to help you complete your tasks anymore."
"I have grown up, but why do you still follow me?" An Yan asked him.
"Because I want to protect you." Jackson smiled at her gently, and disappeared without a trace in the blink of an eye. Only peach petals were left on the ground, and the once lush peach tree was now left with only a bare trunk.
An Yan felt inexplicably sad. She felt a pain in her chest and sat up suddenly. She realized that she had just had a long dream. She heard her phone ringing and immediately picked it up. It was Bai Shichen calling. He said, "An Yan, Jia Er's condition is very bad. He has been vomiting blood. I said to take him to the hospital, but he said no."
"I'll be there right away, right now." An Yan said as she hung up the phone and went to change her clothes.
When she opened the door, she saw Xiaohua standing aside. She asked, "Yanyan, did something happen? Your phone has been ringing for most of the day."
"It's okay, Bai Shichen asked me to go over there." An Yan signaled her not to worry, and looked at her watch again. It was three o'clock in the morning, but she didn't care about the time and ran downstairs immediately.
Xiaohua didn't dare to ask more. She thought something must be wrong and was afraid that it would be unsafe for An Yan to go out so late. She said, "Should we tell Mr. Li that it's too unsafe for you to go out alone?"
"It's okay, I'll drive there myself." An Yan said as she walked out the door. She thought there was no need to disturb Li Rongsen. It was so late and he should still be sleeping.
But Li Rongsen was actually suffering from insomnia. He was sitting in the room thinking about something. Just when he was thinking of opening the curtains to get some fresh air, he saw that the lights in An Yan's house were on. He also saw her hurriedly go out, get in the car, and then drive away. He couldn't help feeling confused.
He wanted to follow her out, but it was the dead of night and if he made a fuss, people might think he was following her. But he didn't care about much else and called An Yan, saying, "An Yan, did something happen? When I got up to drink some water, I saw that the lights in your house were on. What's going on?"
An Yan didn't expect Li Rongsen to call her. She said, "It's not that I have something to do. I need to go to Bai Shichen's place. Something happened to Jiaer. I guess it rained all day today and caused his throat to be inflamed."
Li Rongsen's heart clenched. He glanced at his watch and saw it was almost four o'clock. He said, "Then I'll go see him too. Should we take him to the hospital first?"
"His illness is a bit troublesome. If the hospital had treated it well, he would have recovered long ago." An Yan said.
"Okay, you go first, I'll be there later. Let them clean up a ward. We can't let you stay with me all the time. It would be more appropriate to come to the hospital." Li Rongsen said to her. He was really afraid that she would be too tired.
An Yan agreed and then hung up the phone.
After Li Rongsen changed his clothes and was about to go out, he saw Yan Qingqiu sitting in the room and came out. He asked, "Why aren't you sleeping yet? What time is it?"
"Why are you up?"
"Go to the toilet and drink some water. Last night's dinner was a bit salty and I'm always thirsty." Yan Qingqiu was not yet conscious enough.
"I'm going out for a while."
"What are you doing?"
"Go to Bai Shichen. Jiaer's condition is very serious. I'm afraid An Yan can't handle it alone."
"Then I'll go with you. Maybe I can help." Yan Qingqiu was already sober. He went back to his room to change clothes, and then followed him downstairs.
Li Rongsen said: "Just sleep at home."
"Hey, I'm an expert in detoxification. What if he is poisoned? I'll go too." Yan Qingqiu felt that he was awake too, so he might as well accompany him.
Li Rongsen did not try to stop him. He called Bai Shu and asked him to arrange the best ward for him and hire the best nursing staff, then got into the car.
Yan Qingqiu was a little puzzled. As he sat in the passenger seat, he asked Li Rongsen, "So, is Wen Jiaer your good friend or Anyan's good friend? Why do I feel like she's more concerned about this than you are?"
This was also the question Li Rongsen wanted to know, but unfortunately he didn't even dare to ask.
On the other side, An Yan had already arrived at Bai Shichen's house.
Bai Shichen had been waiting for her at the door and said to her, "Please help take a look. It seems like he's having trouble breathing. I never knew his illness was so serious."
"It has been raining these past two days. I guess his throat got inflamed due to a cold. That's a symptom of his illness. If we're not careful, it will be very troublesome." An Yan explained to him as she went into the house.
Wen Jiaer was lying on the bed, seemingly unconscious, and his breathing was not smooth.
An Yan first went to check on his condition, then took out a gold needle to prick his acupuncture points, and then took out the medicine from her bag and stuffed it into his mouth.
However, just after he put the medicine in, he spat out a mouthful of blood. He also woke up and saw that the person in front of him was An Yan. He asked weakly, "Why are you here?"
"Please be patient and swallow this medicine, okay?" An Yan said to him in a soft voice, and took out another pill and handed it to him.
Wen Jiaer took it and put it into his mouth, swallowing it with all his strength. His throat felt as if it was torn and burning, and he raised his head unconsciously.
This made An Yan see a wound on his neck, and blood was oozing out. She asked, "How did you hurt your neck?"
