She opened the door, the lunch box fell, revealing Fang Henian's smirking face.
"Surprise!" Fang Henian said as he gave Xiaomei a hug.
Xiaomei fell into the warm embrace, still a little bit unbelieving:
"Didn't you go home for the New Year? Why are you back?"
Fang Henian rubbed Xiaomei's head, smelled the fragrance of her hair, and sighed helplessly: "Alas, I was worried about you, and I didn't want to leave you alone. I came here because of the time difference."
Hearing him say this, Xiaomei's eyes became moist. She sniffed and asked in a muffled voice, "Have you eaten yet? Are you hungry?"
"I'm so hungry." Fang Henian showed a pitiful expression and handed the lunch box over.
"This is the radish cake I brought from home. It's eaten during the New Year in Hong Kong. I wonder if it's spoiled after so long?"
Xiaomei took it immediately: "It's not even a day old yet, it won't go bad, it's edible. I'll make you some noodles first."
Fang Henian smiled and pulled the girl who was walking towards the kitchen, saying, "It's true what I said just now that someone would come to deliver the food later. Aren't you very tired today? I didn't come all the way here just to ask you to cook. Let's watch TV first."
After dinner, the two continued watching TV. Xiaomei was a little nervous at first, after all, they were alone, and Fang Henian had a reputation for being a playboy. But Fang Henian seemed genuinely drawn to the TV, holding her hand the entire time and watching intently.
Only when the countdown reached midnight did he kiss her forehead, staring at her and saying:
"May, Happy New Year! I hope I can spend every year with you."
Xiaomei said after a while with a red face,
"I'm going to sleep now. You can sleep in that room later."
Looking at the young girl running away, Fang Henian felt as satisfied as if he owned his beloved sports car for the first time.
In the house with the lights off, the lights outside the window gathered into a galaxy, shining in the room.
Xiaomei curled up in the quilt and could still hear the thumping of her own heartbeat.
The originally lonely world began to become a little different because of the sudden appearance of the man outside.
