Turns Out I Really Am The Protagonist

The world is filled with myriad sects, horrific demons, and rising heroes, but each only reigns for a few hundred years. This world had no protagonist; it was merely a cycle of one power replacing ...

Chapter 196 Eight-Eyed Spider Toad

Another whooshing sound rang out, and only then could one see that the previous attack was actually the tongue of the Eight-Eyed Spider Toad. The tongue moved so fast that it was difficult to see with the naked eye.

With a bright red tongue as thick as a bucket, it lifted up the lifeless Li Qiu from the ground, dragged him to its mouth, and swallowed him whole with a "gulp".

After swallowing, he felt an unforgettable aftertaste and couldn't help but stick out his tongue, with thick saliva dripping down his tongue. He then turned his head and fixed his gaze on Su Qingyu.

After instinctively retreating, Su Qingyu narrowly escaped an attack. Her mind raced, realizing she had no chance of winning and could only try to escape and seek backup.

Before leaving, she casually flicked out her light whip, which wrapped around Li Sisui's waist. Even the spider web of the Eight-Eyed Spider Toad could not withstand Su Qingyu's full-force pull.

He pulled Li Sisui closer, but when he turned around, he saw Li Qiu being swallowed whole by the Eight-Eyed Spider Toad. His back went cold, and he kicked off the ground, his toes shrouded in a veil of light, ready to leave.

A strong wind blew behind them, and then Su Qingyu's protective veil of light, like twinkling stars, fell into the air.

Su Qingyu fell to the ground not far away, like a kite with a broken string.

Because the light whip was still tightly wrapped around Li Sisui, Li Sisui also fell heavily to the side, following Su Qingyu.

Su Qingyu was still dizzy from the fall and before she could recover, she felt a dark shadow pounce on her from behind.

She instinctively reached out to stop him, and only when she felt the rough linen clothing against her skin did she realize that it was Li Sisui who had rushed over and tightly protected Su Qingyu.

A surge of warmth welled up in my heart, and I felt a long-lost sense of comfort.

Before the two could even feel each other, they felt something wet wrapping around them tighter and tighter.

Then the two were bound tightly by the eight-eyed spider toad's tongue like rice dumplings, and were about to be dragged into its mouth and swallowed alive, just like Li Qiu.

With a single blow, Su Qingyu's veil of light was shattered; the two were simply not on the same level, and neither of them had any chance to fight back.

They could only let the eight-eyed spider toad's tongue entwine them, dragging them step by step into the abyss of death.

After being struck by the Eight-Eyed Spider Toad, Su Qingyu was on the verge of mental collapse. Fortunately, her cultivation was superb, much stronger than Li Qiu's, which prevented her from immediately falling into a coma.

Li Sisui is now the one with the least injury but the lowest cultivation level among the three. He is willing but unable to do so, and can only use his own flesh and blood to fulfill the promise he once made at the last moment.

The moment they embraced, a fragrant breeze filled the air, and the beautiful woman was in their arms.

A sentence popped into Li Sisui's mind: "I do not ask to be born on the same day, month, and year, but I ask to die on the same day, month, and year." If he could fulfill this wish, Li Sisui would have no regrets.

Having experienced life and death, he naturally took a more detached view of life and death. In his final moments, Li Sisui faced death with a certain composure. Being able to sleep peacefully with his beloved was a great blessing in this life. Moreover, he had no regrets in this life as he proved his integrity by dying.

The difference between insignificance and greatness, between the weak and the strong, is but a thought.

The eight-eyed spider toad swallowed Su Qingyu and Li Sisui. Just as they reached the throat, a low sigh came from somewhere.

Ancient and timeless, as if traversing endless time, heavy and aged.

The eight-eyed spider toad was taken aback when it heard the sigh, and a hint of doubt appeared in all eight of its eyes.

The next second, before it could even scream, an arm emerged from the eight-eyed spider toad's throat. It was covered in black scales, with bulging, strong muscles, and its five fingers had transformed into sharp claws.

The black-scaled arm moved with unstoppable force, slicing open the eight-eyed spider toad from its throat and tearing it apart.

The fully-formed eight-eyed spider toad, which had been majestically waiting for its prey, was instantly reduced to a pool of blood.

In the last moment before losing consciousness, Su Qingyu vaguely felt the warm body that had been tightly embracing her suddenly become smooth and cold, and she could no longer feel any warmth.

The eight-eyed spider toad was gutted, and Su Qingyu and Li Qiu, who had just been swallowed, were also rescued, falling into a pool of blood, unconscious.

At this moment, Li Sisui seemed to have become a different person. His aura soared to the sky, as if all things under heaven were nothing more than that, and all living beings in the land were beneath his feet.

That defying-the-sky power was like a god or demon, intolerant of heaven and earth, and disdainful of all living beings.

Li Sisui stood proudly before the corpse of the Eight-Eyed Spider Toad, his entire face turned as black as ink, his eyes closed, yet seemingly still able to see, staring at his left hand in deep thought.

Not long after, Li Si, with his dark face, began to mutter to himself:

"You lowly reptile, how dare you try to devour my host! You are overestimating yourself!"

His voice was deep and aged, yet it contained an aura of supreme authority. Then, he placed his left hand on his forehead and murmured:

"This frail body, I regret it so much!"

Then the deep, aged voice gradually faded away, and the scales and claws on Li Sisui's left arm receded and disappeared into his arm.

The entire arm returned to normal, but it was covered in blood vessels and fresh blood was still seeping out.

Li Sisui, like a puppet without support, collapsed beside the corpse of the eight-eyed spider toad.

A gentle breeze blew by, and at the foot of Longtai Mountain, Su Qingyu, who had been lying in a pool of blood, gradually regained consciousness. She got up and looked around at the mess.

Because Su Qingyu suffocated and fell unconscious after being swallowed by the eight-eyed spider toad, she was the first to regain consciousness.

A faint smell of blood filled the air. Su Qingyu saw Li Sisui lying on the ground covered in blood and quickly went over to help him up. She found that Li Sisui was still unconscious and bleeding profusely from his left arm.

"This is not a place to stay for long!" Su Qingyu thought to herself.

Just as he was about to leave, he caught sight of Li Qiu standing not far away beside the corpse of the eight-eyed spider toad, and a look of surprise appeared on his face.
