Turns Out I Really Am The Protagonist

The world is filled with myriad sects, horrific demons, and rising heroes, but each only reigns for a few hundred years. This world had no protagonist; it was merely a cycle of one power replacing ...

Chapter Two: Am I the Protagonist?

Seeing the old man's increasingly serious expression, Li Sisui could only smile to himself to ease the awkwardness. As a cultivator, he couldn't very well say that he had accidentally fallen off the mountain, could he?

Seeing Li Sisui smile without saying a word, the old man was even more surprised and uncertain. After glancing at Li Sisui's cultivation level, his expression changed, and he said no more. Just then, the speed of the crane beneath his feet gradually slowed down, and the old man had arrived at his destination!

All around, clouds and mist swirled, and towering peaks stood majestically. Amidst the towering mountains, a magnificent stone gate stood, carved with various rare and exotic beasts, exuding an ethereal aura. In the very center, three large, gilded characters were written in a flowing, dragon-like style: "Tianmen Sect!"

Today is the wedding day of the only son of the Tianmen Sect Master. As a member of a sect at the foot of the mountain, the old man is honored to receive an invitation from the Tianmen Sect on the mountain. He is extremely humbled and flattered. He was in a hurry on the way, and the sudden appearance of Li Sisui made him even more suspicious. Now that he is away from home, adhering to the principle of "it's better to avoid trouble," the old man decided not to get entangled and to focus on his business.

The crane landed steadily, its long neck obediently pressed against the ground, like a natural step. The old man's expression was solemn. When he looked up and saw the gate of the Heavenly Gate Sect, a hint of urgency flashed in his eyes. He ignored Li Sisui and jumped down, stepping on the crane's neck. After taking a few quick steps, he seemed to sense something was amiss and turned to Li Sisui, clasping his hands in a fist salute:

"Fellow Daoist, I have other important matters to attend to, so I will take my leave now. Please make yourself at home!"

After saying that, without waiting for Li Sisui's reaction, he turned around and ran towards the stone gate, joining the long queue. Now that they were outside the Tianmen Sect, most cultivators restrained their cultivation and acted like ordinary people in order to show respect. The old man's small steps showed his fear of the Tianmen Sect.

The crane remained obediently lying on the ground, showing no reaction to the old man's departure. Li Sisui, standing atop the crane, gazed at the bustling stone gate before him, his curiosity piqued. He jumped off the crane and began to survey his surroundings. Only after Li Sisui left did the crane spread its wings and disappear into the clouds.

Li Sisui looked around and saw a huge crowd in front of the stone gate. Cultivators from all directions came in an endless stream. Some rode strange beasts, some came on magical artifacts of various shapes, and some flew through the air. The whole scene was lively and extraordinary, like a gathering of immortals!

Li Sisui surveyed everything before him and couldn't help but mutter to himself:

"This world is quite interesting!"

When he got close to the stone gate, he saw that there was a red silk hanging on the gate, and the strange beasts and divine creatures carved on it were things he had never seen before, and they were lifelike. The stone gate above his head was even more towering and magnificent. If this stone gate were in his previous world, it would definitely be the work of a world-class master, the kind that would win all kinds of architectural awards!

Cultivators from all directions lined up in an orderly fashion, taking out gifts from their storage rings at the sect gate, along with a gleaming golden invitation, before being invited inside. Just as Li Si arrived at the sect gate, the old man from before took out his invitation and entered. Someone nearby called out:

"The Sect Master of the Sage Qiu Yanyue Sect has come to offer his congratulations. Please take a seat!"

The old man, filled with trepidation, bowed and scraped as he walked inside. Just then, a golden light suddenly shot towards him. It was so fast that the old man only had time to dodge slightly to the side. Even so, his Taoist robe was torn. However, if he hadn't dodged, it probably wouldn't have been just a matter of the robe being torn!

The old man broke out in a cold sweat, but then he saw a series of exclamations from the crowd behind him. The golden light shot out and headed straight for Li Sisui's face. The latter was looking up at the three big characters in the middle of the stone gate and was completely unaware of it!

"careful!"

"Get out of the way!"

The golden light was incredibly fast, scattering the once orderly queue into disarray. In just a few breaths, it reached Li Sisui, and just as the golden light was about to pierce his nose like a candied hawthorn, a furious shout suddenly came from the side:

"Stop being so rude!"

The golden light stopped abruptly, only a foot away from Li Sisui's face. The latter remained expressionless, his eyes glazed over. After the light dissipated, everyone could see that it was actually a flying sword with an ancient and unique design, its blade shimmering with light and color, no ordinary object!

"I apologize. My son is unruly and, having just acquired a magical treasure, has not handled it properly, causing such a mess. I hope you will all forgive him! I apologize to you all in advance. Today is my son's wedding day, and I thank you all for coming from afar to support him!"

Only then did the surrounding crowd realize that the speaker was none other than the Heavenly Gate Sect Master, Daoist Wufa. The words of praise they were about to utter were swallowed back, and they quickly echoed:

"Sect Master, you flatter me. Such a spiritual treasure is truly rare. Young Sect Master is so accomplished at such a young age, and your marriage today is the envy of all!"

"The sect leader is so humble and modest. The young sect leader is getting married today, and all the sects have come to pay homage. He truly deserves to be the number one sect of Mount Fugu!"

"..."

The Daoist Wufa extended his finger, and the flying sword hovering in front of Li Sisui's face was struck as if by lightning. It then coiled like a serpent and disappeared into the Daoist Wufa's sleeve. The latter glanced at Li Sisui meaningfully, a flash of doubt crossing his eyes, before turning to the old man and clasping his hands in a fist salute:

"Fellow Daoist, you have been frightened. We will offer you three thousand spirit stones later. We hope you will forgive us!"

The old man was filled with trepidation. Three thousand spirit stones were equivalent to three months' income for his sect—truly a generous and extraordinary gesture. This Daoist Wufa was the sect master of the Heavenly Gate Sect; crushing him would be as easy as crushing an ant. He hadn't expected him to be so understanding. Overwhelmed with gratitude, the old man quickly returned the greeting:

"Sect Master, you absolutely mustn't! To be honored to attend the Young Sect Master's wedding is already an unparalleled honor for the Hidden Moon Sect. A mere Daoist robe is nothing to boast about!"
