Chapter 193 Main Building

After stuffing the rag in, Lindsay's whole body went limp. Hearing Gu Li's words, she looked at her in disbelief.

"Why do you need to know these things? It's too dangerous at night. I advise you not to know."

Lindsay stepped over the steward, grabbed the opened bottle of red wine, and took several large gulps. Combined with her disheveled hair, her demeanor underwent a dramatic transformation.

Lindsay leaned against the table and looked lazily at Gu Li: "Trust me, the less you know here, the safer you are."

She pulled out a cigarette from somewhere, put it in her mouth without smoking it, and looked at Gu Li lazily: "Damn it, you look a bit like someone I know."

Gu Li looked at her suspiciously and slowly asked, "Caroline?"

The cigarette Lindsay was holding suddenly fell to the ground. Her eyes widened: "It really is! What the hell?! You're Gu Li?!"

"You got yourself into this state to infiltrate?"

She looked her up and down for a while: "Tsk tsk tsk, this isn't very convenient for moving around, is it? You can't even use any of your other abilities here."

Caroline touched her face: "Thank goodness, thank goodness I was prepared."

Gu Li remained unmoved, simply looking at her: "Exchange information?"

Caroline poured herself another glass of wine: "I still need to deal with that thing on the ground. Shouldn't you thank me and give me some more information?"

Gu Li remained silent for a moment.

“I fought Sofia last night and went to the room at the end of the corridor.”

After she finished speaking, she walked towards the door, muttering to herself, "If they don't want to exchange, then forget it. I'll find a way to stay outside tonight and keep an eye on things."

"Hey hey hey!"

Caroline suddenly smiled and brought her back: "The cooperation is negotiable, don't be in such a hurry."

Under her gaze, Gu Li's lips curled slightly: "What do you know about tonight?"

Caroline twitched her lips: "That woman was watching them for the past few nights. Heaven knows how they operated; there wasn't a sound at all."

After complaining, she added, "Luckily, I was quick-witted enough, otherwise I would have been one of those people."

She kicked the steward on the ground again.

"After nightfall, when the first bell of the clock tower rings, countless strange creatures will appear in the villa. They have no mind and just wander around the villa, as if they are guarding something."

After Caroline finished speaking, she stopped talking and looked at Gu Li.

Gu Li used the feather duster in his hand to brush away the steward's chapped face, revealing another demonic face beneath.

"My initial assessment is that those working for the Presidential Palace are all monsters in human skin. The mutation is an uncontrollable change that occurs simultaneously throughout the entire body. I believe they are the outer skin obtained through some method after a complete mutation."

As for where the outer skin came from, Gu Li and Caroline exchanged a glance, both knowing that quite a few people had died in the Presidential Palace during this period.

They have too many opportunities.

Caroline's surprised gaze swept over her petite figure: "I didn't expect you to be so fierce now."

Gu Li rolled her eyes at her.

Caroline continued, "Maids who make mistakes in the side building will be taken to the main building to work."

"But they had already undergone a complete mutation before they went there."

Gu Li pondered, "Does the main building only need the mutated servants?"

Caroline shrugged: "I haven't had a chance to go to the main building yet, but I think it's pretty much the same. The mysterious church people should be in the main building. They no longer consider themselves human."

When she mentioned the mysterious church, a hint of disgust appeared in her eyes.

Gu Li nodded and shared another piece of information she knew with her: "The rooms at the far end of the second floor are full of these things, but they only appear at night. During the day... they are the residents of the city."

Caroline's expression froze. She opened her mouth as if to ask Gu Li if she was sure, but she closed her mouth again under Gu Li's calm gaze.

She lit a cigarette and laughed self-deprecatingly, "Why don't we just burn this lousy place down? What a mess this place is! This city is really... hopeless."

Gu Litian looked out the window at the sky with his azure eyes: "If we don't do anything, Grantham will be in danger, won't it? Isn't that why you came here?"

"By the way, how many people did you White Eagles bring? Can you do me a favor?"

Caroline looked at Gu Li with surprise: "Is there anything I can help you with?"

Gu Li handed her a note with a sentence written on it: "I know the rules, so I won't pry into your affairs. Please ask them to help me put this in a conspicuous place."

Caroline took the note with two fingers: "Eleven o'clock grain liquor is only sold at the Sunset Tavern?"

She tucked the note into her collar: "Okay, I got it. Consider it payment for the help you gave us before. If we stay here too long, people will get suspicious."

Caroline walked toward the steward who was slumped on the ground, then turned to look at Gu Li: "What should we do with this person?"

Gu Li: "Tie it tight and throw it up to the second floor."

The two appeared in the building as if nothing had happened, and after circling around in front of the others, they dispersed.

Night seemed to fall exceptionally quickly in Bellamy's. After Gu Li had looked through almost all the rooms in the villa, a sound suddenly came from the front door on the first floor.

Someone has come in.

Gu Li glanced at the newcomer from a secluded corner on the second floor. As always, the newcomer wore a black suit and top hat, followed by several people, the most conspicuous of whom was a curly-haired young man who was running around everywhere.

She glanced at it to confirm, then climbed out of the second-floor window. Just as she landed, she saw another figure on the other side of the building in the distance.

The other person waved to Gu Li and instantly disappeared into the darkness.

Gu Li silently turned her head and carefully approached the main building. On the way, she encountered some alien species wandering outside the villa. She couldn't help but quicken her pace and dart into the flower bushes below the main building before they caught up with her.

The group stirred for a while, then turned and left under the intervention of a tall figure.

Gu Li looked at the man's armor, which reflected a cold light under the moonlight, and breathed a sigh of relief. Then, she chose a spot on the wall that was covered by shadows and started climbing up the outer wall.

The higher Gu Li climbed, the more oppressive the atmosphere became.

It took her twenty minutes to get to the third floor. Suddenly, the window on the top floor creaked open from the inside out, and there was the sound of someone's clothes rubbing against the windowsill.

If you peek out just a little bit more, you can see Gu Li clinging to the outer wall.

Gu Li's forehead gradually beaded with sweat. Suddenly, she saw the curtains not far from her swaying slightly. Who was there?

The man leaning against the fifth-floor windowsill suddenly looked down thoughtfully: "Hmm?"

There was nothing outside the window except for a third-floor window that wasn't closed properly, with the curtains swaying in the wind.
