After six years in the apocalypse, Xi Xi tragically died at the hands of her aunt's family. Unexpectedly, she was reborn on the day the apocalypse began. Just as she was preparing to leverage h...
Just as Xi Xi lifted her foot to step into the coal car, suddenly, everything went dark, as if she were swallowed up by darkness and could no longer see anything.
She didn't panic, knowing perfectly well that the light effect from the mushroom soup she had drunk earlier had probably worn off.
Xi Xi quickly reached into the golden lucky bag at her waist and, relying on her memory of the shapes of the items, pulled out a Radiant Lollipop.
In the darkness, she instinctively tore open the candy wrapper and deftly put the lollipop into her mouth. The mixed fruity aroma of pineapple and other tropical fruits then filled her mouth.
Xi Xi felt the heavy darkness around her gradually dissipate. In its place, a warm and soft halo of light slowly illuminated the surrounding environment.
The light had a warm tone, quite different from the cool blue light emitted by the previous blue mushroom soup.
Although the brightness is similar, the illumination range of the Glowing Lollipop is significantly narrower.
So, Xi Xi had given her mother quite a few Glorious Lollipops before, but Ms. Chu seemed to be used to being frugal and was unwilling to waste them, so she insisted on using the head-mounted searchlight.
Thinking this, Xi Xi felt a little worried. She opened the light screen again and told her mother with a slightly helpless expression that in case of an emergency, saving her life was the most important thing, and she should not be overly frugal.
Xi Xi then turned off the light screen and turned her gaze to the surrounding carriage environment, beginning to carefully observe the last level of the steam train's power section.
The enormous boiler and complex mechanical structure lay there silently, like the remains of a giant beast, telling tales of past glory and power.
She gently touched the cold iron pipes, feeling the high temperature and pressure they had once endured, as if she could hear the distant echoes of steam lingering in her ears.
Surprisingly, this was clearly a coal and water car, but now there was very little coal left inside, with only a few scattered pieces in the corners. However, there was still a considerable amount of lubricating oil left.
Xi Xi carefully squatted down and began to diligently collect the remaining coal fragments.
She gathered them together little by little, not letting any fragments go unnoticed.
Afterwards, Xi Xi found some old repair tools and parts among the scattered items around her.
These utensils look very old, covered with dust and grime. Although they are of many kinds, they have been rusted by time, which is a pity.
[Metal parts detected. Should we disassemble?]
Xi Xi raised an eyebrow. Some metals could actually be decomposed? Without hesitation, she replied, "Yes!"
[Ding! Disassembly successful. Congratulations! You have obtained 8 metal fragments.]
Xi Xi looked at the remaining parts on the ground, somewhat puzzled. She really couldn't tell which parts could be disassembled and which couldn't, so she could only try them one by one.
She sent another private message to Xi's mother, informing her that some metals can be broken down into metal fragments. By that logic, some plastic products should also be able to break down into plastic fragments…
Xi's mother quickly replied with "Received". Xi Xi turned off the light screen, licked the lollipop again, and continued walking towards the train driver's cab.
Not long after she finished licking it, everything went black again. She couldn't help but frown, finding it very troublesome to have to lick the Radiant Lollipop every minute, so she simply put it in her mouth.
Note that this is not because she thinks lollipops are delicious... it's entirely due to the insanely short lighting time!
If she didn't use this method, the light and dark would constantly alternate, severely affecting her vision and exploration efficiency.
Although it's a bit wasteful, it's still much better than having alternating periods of light and darkness.
The heavy door to the driver's cab seemed to be stuck due to years of oxidation.
Xi Xi tried her best, and after a difficult effort, she finally heard a dull "creak".
She took the opportunity to brace her foot against the door frame, then pushed it open with all her might.
With a cloud of dust rising, Xi Xi successfully stepped into the driver's cab of the steam train.
The gauges on the dashboard, covered in dust and cobwebs, had long since stopped moving, and the numbers appeared blurry in the dim light.
The leather seat in the driver's seat has faded and cracked, as if you can still feel the lingering warmth and fatigue left by the driver after long drives.
Some of the levers and buttons next to the seat are missing, while the remaining parts are covered with a thick layer of rust, relentlessly eroded by time.
In this way, Xi Xi stepped over the somewhat unstable undercarriage and began searching around the driver's cab.
She found an old-fashioned paper map in the drawer.
The map has long lost its original colors and luster, but the former railway lines and stations can still be identified.
Xi Xi picked up the paper map and then opened the light screen map, comparing the two side by side.
Surprisingly, no similarities could be found.
The lines on the light screen map are intricate and complex, like a giant spider web, while the lines on the paper map are very simple and clear.
Xi Xi had some doubts, but she didn't give up on the old map. While thinking about it, she rolled it up and put it into her golden lucky bag.
Xi Xi continued to explore the driver's cab, her eyes sharp as she scanned every corner.
Holding the sickle handle, she cautiously tapped around and unexpectedly discovered that the area under the driver's seat was not solid.
With a hint of trepidation in her heart, Xi Xi finally reached out and lifted the chair, instantly letting out a sigh of relief.
It turns out that there was just a regular storage space under the seat.
