"No." Yu Yunzhi quickly withdrew her gaze from Shao Wenyan's face. It had only been less than two days since she last saw him, so why was she so mesmerized?

Seeing the little girl's panicked expression, Shao Wenyan roughly understood what was going on. It seemed that his face was still somewhat useful, and it was an honor for Zhizhi to like him.

"Want to watch the fireworks?" Shao Wenyan used his hand to warm Yu Yunzhi's face, which was chilled by the cold wind.

The moment Shao Wenyan's warm hand covered her face, Yu Yunzhi's mind seemed to go blank, and she forgot everything.

After being pulled into Shao Wenyan's car, Yu Yunzhi was so dazed that he forgot what he had just answered.

"Where are we going to watch the fireworks?" Yu Yunzhi had already fastened his seatbelt when he realized he didn't know where they were going, so he just followed the others.

"Let's go to the river; there's a fireworks show there tonight."

"A fireworks show? How come I didn't know?" Yu Yunzhi hadn't heard anyone around him mention a fireworks show since he returned to Z City! Nor had his parents mentioned it.

In fact, Shao Wenyan didn't know there was a fireworks show by the river, because he had decided to come to Z City on short notice.

He had originally planned to come to Z City in the afternoon to see Yu Yunzhi, but as soon as Shao Wenyan got into the car, his grandmother and mother plopped down in.

His grandmother and mother insisted on taking him to the mall, saying that it was almost the new year and they wanted to buy some things. Since they didn't have a driver at home, they asked Shao Wenyan to take them and also to be their porter and help them carry their things.

Since everyone was already seated, Shao Wenyan couldn't force them to get off, and he couldn't persuade the two of them otherwise, so he decided to go to Z City later that night.

When they arrived at the mall, Shao Wenyan realized that asking him to do manual labor was a pretense; his real intention was to help him pick out things.

First, they went into a luxury store. At first, Grandma Shao and Mama Shao would try to cover it up, saying that there would be a family dinner that evening and many younger relatives would be coming, and they wanted to give some gifts to these younger relatives.

Shao Wenyan was still wondering when family banquets started requiring gifts for younger generations; how come he didn't know about it?!

But she couldn't refuse Grandma Shao and Mama Shao, so she could only go out with them and let them arrange things for her.

Once inside to choose gifts, Shao Wenyan realized something was amiss. Why were they constantly asking for his opinion? Weren't they supposed to be giving gifts to the younger generation?

Whenever Grandma Shao and Mama Shao took a liking to something, if it came in a different color, Grandma Shao would ask Shao Wenyan to help her choose one.

Shao Wenyan said he didn't know which one to choose, and that it didn't matter. Then his mother would say, "Which one does Zhizhi like? They're about the same age, so they should like the same thing. Just choose the one Zhizhi likes."

The first time was fine, but the second time Shao Wenyan realized that this wasn't about picking out a gift for a junior, but rather for Yu Yunzhi.

Later, Grandma Shao and Mama Shao simply stopped pretending. What's wrong with them buying some things for Zhizhi?! Would Shao Wenyan dare to say anything to them?

Even the question asked of Shao Wenyan changed to, "Which of these do you like, Zhizhi? I feel this color suits Zhizhi very well!"

"This is so cute! It suits Zhizhi perfectly, she would look so good in it..."

If you really can't decide in the end, just take them all.

Shao Wenyan had no idea where his grandmother and mother got their energy. They would go from one store to another and never came out empty-handed.

The manager following behind the two women couldn't hide his joy and couldn't stop smiling.

Seeing that Shao's mother and the others wanted to buy bags again, Shao Wenyan quickly stopped them. They were really going crazy. His hands and arms were full of shopping bags, and the manager following behind him was no less so.

Hearing Shao Wenyan call for a stop, Grandma Shao looked at him disapprovingly. "How can we not buy a bag? Don't you know that a bag can cure all ills?"

You don't even know this and you want to pursue girls?!

Seeing the murderous glare from Grandma Shao and Mama Shao, Shao Wenyan quickly said that it wasn't that he forbade them to buy it, but that Yu Yunzhi wouldn't carry it even if they did; she preferred to carry her own canvas bag.

When asked which brand of canvas bag it was, Shao's mother said they would go and buy one of each color so that Zhizhi could switch between them.

Shao Wenyan told them that the canvas bag was handmade by Yu's mother. Grandma Shao and Shao's mother praised him again, saying that if Shao Wenyan couldn't handle such a good girl, he shouldn't come back. They didn't have a grandson/son like him.

Then the manager cautiously asked the two ladies if they wanted to continue shopping, as they had just received some new products.

Upon hearing the manager mention new products, Grandma Shao, with her wealth and affluence, said to Shao Wenyan, "Whether you buy them to display or not, they'll make Zhizhi happy. What girl wouldn't like a bag? It's impossible."

Shao Wenyan was helpless. He had tried to persuade them, but they wouldn't listen. So why did they insist on dragging him out?

Shao Wenyan stopped paying attention to Grandma Shao and the others because his gaze was drawn to the counter not far away.

It was three hours later when Grandma Shao and Mama Shao had finished shopping at all the luxury stores.

Shao Wenyan took them home, just as the family dinner was about to begin.

This is a small family banquet, attended only by family members. On New Year's Eve, there will be a large banquet, attended not only by their family but also by members of the collateral branches.

Shao Wenyan was forcibly pulled to sit down by Shao Cong'er. He ate a couple of bites of rice, but couldn't taste anything. All he could think about was finishing up quickly so he could head to Z City.

When Shao Cong'er offered Shao Wenyan a toast, Shao Wenyan declined, saying he had to drive.

Upon hearing Shao Wenyan say that he still had to drive, Grandma Shao asked, "Aren't you staying here tonight? Your room has been prepared."

In the past, after family dinners, everyone would sleep at the old house! Including Shao Wenyan, so why is he driving tonight?
