As Yu Yunzhi opened her phone to ask Shao Wenyan which color he liked so that it would be easier for her mother to prepare, she received a WeChat message from Shao Wenyan.
Shao Wenyan: [So cute.]
The reply was a photo of the dumplings Yu Yunzhi had sent to Shao Wenyan two hours earlier.
Yu Yunzhi: [Smug JPG]
Looking at the emojis Yu Yunzhi sent on his phone, Shao Wenyan propped his head up with one arm against the car window, a smile playing on his lips. He could already picture her expression.
Shao Wenyan: [Have you finished eating?]
Yu Yunzhi: [Mmm JPG.]
Yu Yunzhi: [Just finished eating, watching TV with my mom and sister.]
Shao Wenyan: [Would you like to see fireworks?]
Yu Yunzhi: [Huh? Fireworks can be set off in Beijing now?]
Yu Yunzhi was a little confused. Wasn't Shao Wenyan in Beijing? Why hadn't she received any notification that fireworks were allowed in Beijing?
Shao Wenyan: [I'm in Z City.]
Yu Yunzhi was stunned for a moment when he saw the message from Shao Wenyan. Z City was where Yu Yunzhi grew up, and it was also where Yu Yunzhi was now.
Seeing that her younger sister wasn't watching TV and was just holding her phone, seemingly lost in thought, Yu Luoyan asked, "What's wrong?"
Yu Luoyan's question successfully woke Yu Yunzhi from his own world.
Yu Yunzhi glanced at Yu Luoyan and Yu's mother, and without saying anything, quickly put on his socks. Before he could even put on his shoes, he grabbed his coat and prepared to run outside.
"Where are you going?" Seeing her youngest daughter in a panic, Yu's mother quickly stood up, thinking something had happened.
Judging from their posture, they should be going out, but it's so late, and it's New Year's Eve. Why would they go out now instead of staying at home?
Not even wearing a mask or hat, does she even remember she's a celebrity?
"Shao Wenyan is here." Yu Yunzhi had already run out the door, and before the door closed, her words successfully reached the ears of Yu's mother and Yu Luoyan.
Hearing the door close, Yu's mother froze in place as she reached for the mask for Yu Yunzhi. Oh well, she'd already disappeared by now, and she couldn't possibly hand it to her anyway.
Since Shao Wenyan is here, nothing serious should happen.
Yu's mother and Yu Luoyan exchanged a glance and smiled at each other.
Yu's mother sat back down on the sofa with a sigh, "A daughter is like a tree that grows up and leaves home..."
"You get anxious if she doesn't date, but you can't bear to let her go if she does," Yu Luoyan said ruthlessly, hearing her mother's sigh on the sofa.
Mother Yu glared at her eldest daughter reproachfully. Honestly, she wouldn't even let her have her moment of reflection.
"Mom, wait a minute, let me take a look." Yu Luoyan suddenly remembered something and ran to the balcony, where she could see downstairs.
Before Yu Yunzhi came out, Yu Luoyan sensed some unusual activity beside her.
"Make room for me." It turned out that Yu's mother had also squeezed in, and the two of them stared downstairs, ready to watch their sister/daughter's dating scene.
A short while later, Yu Yunzhi came out of the building. She wasn't dressed properly and was holding her phone, seemingly doing something.
"Couldn't this child put on some clothes before coming downstairs... It's so cold..." When Yu's mother saw her youngest daughter standing downstairs in a thin sweater, she realized that the old man was right; love really can make people lose their minds!
Yu Yunzhi put on his shoes while waiting for the elevator. Just as he finished putting on his shoes, the elevator arrived downstairs.
She had just stepped out of the building when she realized that Shao Wenyan hadn't told her where he was. But Yu Yunzhi had a feeling that Shao Wenyan was definitely nearby, which was why she rushed down without thinking.
Yu Yunzhi immediately called Shao Wenyan, and the call was answered almost instantly, before any music even started playing.
"Hey, Zhizhi."
"Hey, Wen Yan, where are you right now?"
"Zhizhi, look at the other side..."
The voice on the phone overlapped with the voice in reality. As if sensing something, Yu Yunzhi looked up and saw him walking towards her.
He walked against the dim streetlights, wearing a black trench coat, and Yu Yunzhi had to admit that she was indeed struck by his handsome appearance as he walked towards her.
As Shao Wenyan approached, he noticed that the little girl was only wearing a sweater with a piece of clothing draped over her arm, and she didn't seem to know how to dress.
He took the coat from the little girl's arm and, just like he had helped her put it on on set before, helped Yu Yunzhi put on the coat again. "Why didn't you put on your clothes properly before coming down? Aren't you cold?"
Shao Wenyan was a head taller than Yu Yunzhi. She couldn't see his face clearly because he was backlit earlier, but now, because he was helping her get dressed, Shao Wenyan was very close, and Yu Yunzhi could see his eyebrows and eyes clearly.
Just like that summer when she ran into him on her way home after filming, and he washed her hands with mineral water, with the same focused gaze, Yu Yunzhi was instantly captivated.
Yu Yunzhi may have been moved at that moment, but she attributed it to her liking for her idol.
"It's not cold." Yu Yunzhi shook his head. There was heating in the room, so Yu Yunzhi was only wearing a sweater. He had come down in such a hurry that he only had time to put on his shoes and hadn't had time to put on his clothes yet.
Perhaps because it hadn't been long since he'd been down there, Yu Yunzhi hadn't felt the cold yet, or perhaps he wasn't focused on sensing the outside temperature, so he hadn't felt the cold.
If Shao Wenyan hadn't mentioned it, she might have forgotten that she wasn't wearing a coat. Only now that he brought it up did Yu Yunzhi feel the chill.
Before the clothes she had just put on could even be warmed by Yu Yunzhi's body heat, Yu Yunzhi felt goosebumps all over her body.
Feeling the little girl's gaze lingering on his face, Shao Wenyan felt unusually uncomfortable.
"Is there something on my face?" Shao Wenyan reached up and touched his face. Could it be that he ate dinner too quickly and didn't wipe his mouth clean? But there was nothing on his face.
