Chapter 85 River Monsters

Wu Shashen picked up the wine flask, took a sip of wine, and then drew his sword and saber. He held the saber in his right hand and the sword in his left, spitting the wine into the saber and saber. Sparks flew as the two weapons clashed, and then the two weapons burst into flames, illuminating the surroundings.

A dark shadow moved across the river. Wu Shashen's eyes widened in fury. "You beast, come out and exchange a few blows with me if you dare!"

A dark shadow leaped out of the water; it was a black snake thicker than a bucket, which opened its blood-red maw and lunged at Wu the Killer.

Wu Shashen gripped the hilt of his sword, and the fiery red blade slashed down on the black snake's head. Blood splattered everywhere, and Wu Shashen was knocked back by the powerful force, but fortunately Qin Luo reached out and caught him.

The black serpent was repelled by the flaming longsword. It straightened up, becoming two stories tall. Blood was flowing from its head. It hissed and roared, causing ripples to spread across the river.

Yao Qingshan was so frightened that he fainted on the spot.

Wu Shashen steadied himself.

Brother Wu, how are you?

"I'm fine, leave this beast to me!"

Wu Shashen stood at the bow of the boat again, pointing his knife at the black snake, and taunted once more, "You useless beast!"

The black snake's eyes were filled with rage. Suddenly, waves surged on the water's surface as a huge snake tail lashed out. If it had hit the boat, it could have easily pierced through the wooden vessel. However, the black snake was attacking Wu Shashen, and it was clear that it had been provoked.

Wu Shashen leaped high, dodging the snake's tail attack. Seeing that he had nowhere to gain leverage in the air, the black snake opened its blood-red maw and pounced.

Just as the black snake approached, a large amount of dust flew out from Wu Shashen's sleeve. When the black snake encountered the dust, a heat wave appeared, its body twisted, and its eyes were burned.

Wu Shashen seized the opportunity and slashed the black snake's head with his sword, severing its hard black scales. He then stabbed the black snake in the eye with his sword, and the black snake shook its head, throwing Wu Shashen away.

Wu Shashen was thrown into the misty river.

Qin Luo looked at the enraged black snake, gripped his sword and commanded it, the breeze on the river transforming into a sharp blade that slashed out.

The black snake split open!

The river surface was stained red with blood.

As the thick fog dissipated, the bright moonlight shone on the river. Wu Shashen, biting the hilt of his knife, swam back to the side of the boat with his sword in hand. He saw Qin Luo standing at the bow, his Taoist robe fluttering, and thought he was an immortal descending to earth. If he were truly an immortal, why would he need to travel by boat?

Wu Shashen climbed onto the boat and lay down at the bow, panting heavily. "Master Daoist, did the black snake escape?"

"He must be dead."

"Hahaha."

Wu Shashen laughed heartily.

"This guy is nowhere near as strong as the tiger demon!"

Qin Luo went to the stern and carried Yao Qingshan into the cabin. Afraid that he would catch a cold, he took off his Taoist robe and covered him with it.

Wu Shashen was wringing out his clothes at the bow of the boat when he looked at Qin Luo inside the awning. "Daoist Master, am I amazing?"

"sharp."

Qin Luo gave a thumbs up.

Most ordinary people would be terrified and their legs would go weak at the sight of monsters, but Wu Shashen was unusually excited when he saw monsters and was even able to pick up his sword and cut the black snake, which was quite remarkable.

Qin Luo raised the sails, and the small boat sailed with the wind.

Wu Shashen returned to the boat awning and looked at the little dumpling sleeping on Qin Luo's shoulder. "This little guy is so calm."

Qin Luo looked at the sleeping little dumpling and chuckled, "Brother Wu, did you just throw away lime?"

Wu Shashen scratched his head, then coughed with his fist, revealing an awkward smile, "Ahem, when you're traveling the martial world, it's normal to carry a bag of lime for self-defense."

"Brother Wu is truly a seasoned veteran!"

"A little bit of cleverness!"

Wu Shashen shook his head modestly.

“I see that Brother Wu is not sleeping well. You can adjust your breathing. When you sleep, don’t think about anything, just listen to your breathing. You will feel sleepy when you are tired.”

"Master Dao, when you're out and about, you can't sleep too soundly."

"You don't believe me?"

I believe you.

Wu Shashen leaned against the awning and closed his eyes. He didn't want to think about anything, just listened to his own breathing. Some images still flashed through his mind, but he deliberately tried not to think about them and soon fell asleep.

Qin Luo closed his eyes. He heard the sound of the river, as if it were calling to him, and the sound grew closer and closer.
