Why Do You Think I'll Always Like You?

I used half my life to gain this great enlightenment. If I were to look back even once, I would deserve to die," Chen Lu said to himself after waking up.

He and Mo Yuqing had known each o...

Chapter 253 Mediation Master Liang Zhirou

If I really move here after the New Year, I'll probably have to bring a lot of things with me, right?

Liang Zhirou rested her chin on her hands, watching Chen Lu wolf down his food, and thought carefully to herself.

She sensed that Chen Lu was a little down, and instinctively agreed without thinking much about it...

I haven't even figured out how to tell my mom yet. I can't use this excuse anymore. I can't just say that my daughter is moving in with her boyfriend, can I?

I'm so worried, so worried.

Chen Lu is really going too far. He only knows how to coax her into agreeing, but he won't even help her think of a solution...

As she thought about it, she suddenly realized that she had been deceived again, and that the person who deceived her was not responsible for her actions.

"You made pork and scallion dumplings without adding ginger."

While eating, Chen Lu casually mentioned something.

I wonder if this silly guy has some amazing talent for cooking. He's hardly ever made dumplings before, but he can still make them so delicious.

"Don't you dislike ginger?" Liang Zhirou asked curiously. She remembered that Chen Lu always made sure to pick out all the ginger from the dishes before eating.

Chen Lu nodded repeatedly like a chick pecking at rice, "Yes, that's why I was almost moved to tears. You have no idea how many times I've told my mom to put less ginger in the cooking since I was a child, and she always argues that it's good for your health."

He didn't know if it was good for his physical health, but it did cause him considerable psychological harm.

After all, ginger is such a terrifying thing. It can even disguise itself as anything. If you cook it with potatoes, it becomes potatoes. If you stir-fry it with meat, it becomes lean meat.

As long as you dare to eat it, it will always have a chance to sneak into your mouth, making eating a meal like playing Minesweeper.

No matter how good his appetite was before, one bite of ginger and it was gone.

"Hmm..." Liang Zhirou pondered for a moment after hearing this, and a charming smile appeared on her lips. "I think what you need is not to eat more ginger, but to eat more rice."

After the girl finished speaking, she still rested her chin on her hands, staring intently at him as if there were flowers on his face.

Chen Lu felt that his dignity as a boy had been insulted.

"Why do I need to eat more?" Chen Lu patted his cheeks. Well, maybe he was a little thin. "I'm at least within the standard weight range for my height, right? Liang Zhirou, you can say I'm not strong enough, but you can't say I'm thin."

How can a guy be told he's too thin by his girlfriend? It's only slightly less insulting than being told he's not good enough, right?

Chen Lu grew angrier the more he thought about it, thinking that he would teach this silly girl a lesson sooner or later, so that she would know how amazing her boyfriend was and wouldn't dare to urge her to eat more.

"Being a little chubby is good for your health; you're less likely to get sick."

"That's a misconception. Eating a lot and growing strong doesn't necessarily mean you'll be healthy..."

Just as I was about to retort, a knock came at the door.

"Who would come here in the middle of the day?"

Chen Lu muttered to himself as he walked to the entrance. When he opened the door, he saw Aunt He, who had previously given Liang Zhirou a bag of peaches, standing outside.

This time was no different. She was carrying a large bag of apples in her left hand and a pair of Spring Festival couplets in her right hand. When she saw Chen Lu, she happily handed them to him.

When Chen Lu first moved in, he helped her move things a few times. Later, they would often chat casually when they met in the hallway, and their relationship gradually improved.

This is how most neighbors become acquainted.

The old lady likes to bring him fruit whenever she has nothing to do, and her husband goes out to clean the stairwell every day when he has nothing to do, as a form of exercise.

The couple is quite interesting.

"We have too much food at home, you can take it."

Before Chen Lu could refuse, she stuffed all the things into his hands.

Chen Lu spread the couplet out in his hand and examined it closely.

May the orchids flourish for a thousand years, and may the zither and lute bring joy for a hundred years.

Unlike those sold in the market, this couplet has a very traditional red background and black characters. It's quite auspicious, and the characters are beautiful too; it's much better than the ones they buy in the supermarket.

However, the old man's hint was quite obvious: the couplet wouldn't look out of place even if it were pasted in the bridal chamber.

“My old man wrote it. Anyway, you two will get married sooner or later.”

"I wrote this myself, how could I bear to paste it up?" Chen Lu said earnestly, a slight smile playing on his lips.

"Look at you, so eager! What's there to be reluctant about! Just keep posting, and you even want me to make him write more for you. Anyway, this old man doesn't do anything worthwhile except write calligraphy all day." Aunt He waved her hand dismissively and walked downstairs. "You've already graduated, and your relationship is stable, so hurry up and settle down on the big things."

She lowered her voice again, as if whispering, "A girl as good as Zhirou is one in a million! You brat, you don't seem to care at all. Are girlfriends and wives the same thing?"

"It'll be here soon."

Chen Lu smiled and echoed, too embarrassed to say that he and Liang Zhirou weren't even old enough to get a marriage certificate yet. A moment later, he gently closed the door only after Aunt He's figure was out of sight.

He sat back down at the table, wondering if older people all like to pressure others to get married.

"Aunt He brought over a pair of Spring Festival couplets, but unfortunately, it's a bit difficult to put them up." He shrugged and continued eating.

Upon hearing this, Liang Zhirou picked up the Spring Festival couplets with some curiosity and looked at them. Then she quickly put them back on the table and pretended that nothing had happened.

Are these Spring Festival couplets? Aren't they meant to bless couples with love, harmony, and a long and happy life together?

After a while, she cleared her throat like Chen Lu usually did and said softly, "Since we have an extra pair, I'll take the one we bought at the supermarket home. We didn't buy one before."
