The following day, September 20th, the sky was half covered by clouds, indicating a cloudy day.
At dawn, Pam watched the allied fleet depart from the shore.
He did not choose to sail with them; this man, who strictly adhered to orders, remained convinced that the Federation fleet was on its way back.
Even if the Allied forces encountered the returning Federation fleet at sea, he believed that the commander would send a warship to Chalmers Island to notify them to rush to the rendezvous.
This idea might be too rigid, but Pam did it anyway.
As the allied fleet gradually moved away, Pam walked to the seaside, bent down, scooped up a handful of seawater, and splashed it on his face.
Salty seawater slid down his face, and sunlight shone through the gaps in the thick clouds. Pam, his face covered in water droplets, looked out at the vast sea.
The sea, shimmering yet somewhat gloomy, was empty except for the ever-rolling white waves.
