Everyone could hear the anger in Harris's words. In fact, this garrison commander from Foster Harbor had been trying to persuade Davis to send troops to meet the enemy, but from last night until now, even after the battle was over, Davis remained unmoved, while Harris remained resentful.
Now, faced with Harris's clearly accusatory question, Davis's loyal confidant Tacino couldn't help but shout:
"Harris! Watch your tone!"
But Tacino's defense at that moment completely ignited the anger in Harris's chest. He could no longer care about anything else and shouted repeatedly:
"We had several opportunities to launch a pincer attack on the Yan Kingdom, but you just stood by and watched our reinforcements fight the Yan Kingdom!"
"We could have won this battle! We could have won!"
"But what about now?! The reinforcements that came from Port Bruno to relieve our siege suffered a crushing defeat, and they don't know how many of them sacrificed their lives in this battle! And what are we doing?!"
Harris became increasingly agitated as he spoke, and began to shout:
"We did nothing! We did nothing! We just stayed in this damn house waiting for them to help us win this war!"
"You've all seen the result?! We lost!"
"This is the price you pay for doing nothing!"
Perhaps due to the intense emotional outburst in such a short time, Harris, who was still recovering, began to pant as he spoke, and his accusations made everyone present look grim.
Tacino quickly retorted, "You're being too idealistic. Can't you see the current situation?! If we had sent troops, our factory would have already fallen."
Harris, panting heavily, sneered: "That's why we lost, because we did nothing."
"So now, we have to bear the brunt of the attack that the Yan people are about to launch on our own. What do you think the Yan people, who won this battle, are doing by concentrating their forces in the west?"
At this point, Harris looked at Davis:
"Davis, don't pretend you don't hear and be a bystander!"
"You are the current commander-in-chief. With your decades of combat experience, tell me what they are doing right now."
Davis frowned and said, "That's enough, Harris. The battle is over. Your baseless accusations won't change anything."
Time will tell, and my decision will be made in the future...
Before he could finish speaking, Harris pointed at Davis and angrily interrupted, "Don't try to change the subject. If you're too stupid to think of an answer, then I'll tell you!"
"Concentrating their forces in one place is a sign that they are about to launch a one-sided attack. Once we defeat our reinforcements, those damned Yan people will have no more worries about their rear, and they can confidently and boldly come to kill us."
Harris looked around, his angry gaze sweeping across everyone's faces.
"So what?"
Perhaps prompted by Harris's repeated accusations, Davis raised his voice and spoke with unusual coldness, continuing:
"The military factory is impregnable. I don't care whether they launch a one-sided attack or surround and attack our military factory."
"As long as the Yan people are willing to fight, I can lead my soldiers to fight them for a month."
Harris shook his head repeatedly upon hearing this: "If you had been this confident when you sent troops to provide support a few hours ago, I think the Yan people would have been defeated by now."
"And your current confidence, I only think it's stubbornly foolish."
Davis looked coldly at Harris, who had completely broken off relations with him, and shrugged, saying, "Think what you want."
"My experience tells me that if we hold this position and wait for reinforcements from the Heinrich military base to arrive, the Yan people will surely be defeated."
Harris sneered: "You seemed to have said the same thing before the reinforcements from Port Brulow arrived."
"I think you'll always just wait for reinforcements to come to your rescue."
At this point, Harris straightened his slightly bowed body and continued:
"Stick to your idea. As you said, time will tell."
"However, I'm taking my soldiers and leaving. You can guard this cage."
Upon hearing this, everyone's expression changed, and an officer immediately spoke up: "Harris! How could you lead your troops to retreat at this time! You should know that now..."
Harris interrupted coldly: "I almost gave my all to defend Foster Harbor, and now I only have a few hundred soldiers left."
"Macedonian military factories are sturdy and reliable. What impact will the evacuation of a few hundred people have on you?"
“Of course, if you disagree, I will leave. You can execute me as a deserter. Davis, give the order now, and I will not resist.” Harris extended his hand to Davis, whose face was cold and stern.
Davis's face was frosty, but he still said, "The enemy may not have really withdrawn their troops everywhere. That may just be a decoy to make us misjudge. Once we go out, they will launch an attack directly, and you will die a terrible death."
Harris nodded expressionlessly: "That's perfect."
"Maybe I can kill a few of them and relieve some of the pressure on you."
Davis said coldly, "Since you're not afraid of death, there's even less reason for you to leave. Stay here and guard the military factory with us."
Harris said with empty eyes, "You know, Davis, I can't even breathe just standing here."
"I don't know if you can smell the blood wafting from that battlefield. It's the blood of those who fought for us. I can smell it."
