“I can even hear their cries for help, but I don’t have a large army to lead to help them. Taking these few hundred men would just be suicide. My life may not be important, but it might still be of some use.”
"Just give me a chance, a chance to defeat the Yan people."
Seeing Harris's determined look, Davis rubbed his temples and sighed inwardly. In fact, he was not angry at Harris's accusations, and even admired him in some ways. It was just a pity that Harris's ideas were completely different from his own. Now it seemed that there was no way to persuade him anymore.
This internal strife should come to an end.
At this moment, Tacino, standing to the side, said coldly:
"No! This is a critical moment! The Yan Kingdom's target is this place, we must gather all available forces to defend it! No one can leave!"
Harris remained silent.
“Alright, Tacino, just do what we’re supposed to do,” Davis suddenly said.
"Harris, since you've made your decision, then so be it. Take your men and leave. If you need anything, just tell me, and I'll provide you with everything you need except for personnel."
“Sir!” Tacino looked at Davis in disbelief, but Davis raised his hand to indicate that there was no need to say more.
"We don't need anything. We'll leave the way we came. And if we encounter any unexpected problems, don't worry, we definitely won't cause any trouble here."
"I'll leave tonight, quietly, so as not to affect morale," Harris said expressionlessly, then turned and walked away.
"Okay, have a safe trip," Davis said.
Harris, who had reached the door, stopped. He turned to look at Davis, and after a few seconds of silence, he said:
"Davis, if... I mean if, there are signs of a breakthrough on the west side, I hope you can prepare in advance, so that things don't come to this..."
Before he could finish speaking, Davis interrupted, "Okay, thank you for your suggestion, I'll consider it."
Davis hesitated, but ultimately kept quiet, while Tacino sneered, "Let's get going, this is a good opportunity."
The words had barely left his mouth.
"Colonel, I hope you will stand firm in your duty and not back down an inch." Harris said this with narrowed eyes, then strode away, no longer caring about what happened behind him.
Around midnight, Harris left the factory from the east side with more than three hundred men.
For the first three kilometers, Harris led his men to walk slowly, constantly watching for any movement on the road. Only after confirming that there was no Yan army ambush did he lead his soldiers to gallop at full speed.
The night was deep, with only a faint moonlight on the road. Harris, riding at full speed, turned his head one last time to look behind him.
The Macedonian military factory had disappeared into the night, but this was not the place he was looking at.
"People of Yan Kingdom... await my revenge... I will surely slaughter you all!!"
Harris muttered a few words to himself with a ferocious expression, then ripped off the blood-stained gauze bandage wrapped around his forehead, spurred his horse, and led his men toward the Heinrich military base.
