Chapter 145 Moving Out
After a while
Brother Lu slowly walked downstairs and looked at the people sitting quietly in the living room.
He sat down directly next to Lu's mother, his eyes sharply fixed on Gu Yihan.
Just as Lu's mother was about to speak, Lu's father held her tightly and gently shook his head, signaling her not to speak.
The children are all grown up, and each of them has their own ideas; they can't possibly live according to their parents' wishes.
Gu Yihan looked up and was stunned when she saw the way Brother Lu was looking at her.
Is this person crazy? She didn't offend the other party, so why is she looking at her like that?
Gu Yihan stood up abruptly, her voice cold, "Big brother, what does this mean?"
Brother Lu's eyes were filled with anger: "What? You've already sent Fang Yi back to her parents' home as your sister-in-law wished?"
"Aren't you satisfied yet? Do you want Miaomiao to make way for you too?"
Upon hearing this, Lu Huailin sneered and reached out to tug at his wife's arm, signaling her to be quiet.
He slowly got up and gently pressed Gu Yihan onto the sofa, his voice soft: "Wife, you're still pregnant, you can't be angry."
After calming Gu Yihan down, Lu Huailin looked at his elder brother with a deep gaze.
He said sarcastically, "What? Your sister-in-law was sent home because you were incompetent, and now you're blaming us? Don't you think that's ridiculous?"
Brother Lu rubbed his throbbing head, glanced at his parents sitting silently to the side, and at Lu Huailin, whose face looked unwell.
He'd been overwhelmed by household chores these past few days, and he knew he'd taken his anger out on Gu Yihan, so he didn't blame her.
"Sister-in-law, I'm sorry, I couldn't control my emotions."
Gu Yihan didn't say anything. Why should she forgive her with a perfunctory apology?
Lu Huailin snorted coldly: "I hope you can control your emotions and not drag others into this for no reason."
Lu's mother couldn't hold back any longer and slapped her eldest son's arm: "It was my idea to have you send your wife back to her parents' home this morning."
“Your wife can’t keep her mouth shut. Letting her stay home for a while is for her own good.”
Brother Lu rubbed his face vigorously and looked up at his mother.
She gave a look that was worse than crying, saying, "I know Mom means well, but Miaomiao is still so young."
"No matter how many faults Fang Yi has, she truly cares about the child. Even for Miaomiao's sake, I would never easily divorce her."
Mr. Lu glanced at Mrs. Lu, who seemed hesitant to speak, and knew that she didn't want her son to get a divorce either; she just wanted to put Fang Yi's arrogance to the test.
However, when it comes to living a good or bad life, parents should try not to interfere, otherwise they will surely be blamed later.
Lu Huailin wasn't as easily fooled as his mother: "Brother keeps saying it's for the child's good, but why aren't you worried about the child going astray?"
Brother Lu's eyes were weary. He didn't want to argue with Lu Huailin; winning or losing wouldn't make any difference.
This will only cause the brothers' relationship to grow weaker.
Does he want Miaomiao to go to Fang Yi's parents' house? Isn't it because there's no one to look after the child at home?
Neither of Mr. Lu nor Mrs. Lu had retired, and they were both busy with work, so the child had to be sent to Fang Yi's parents' home.
Brother Lu glanced at Gu Yihan's stomach and said, "Wait until your wife gives birth."
"You'll understand my difficulties then; every family goes through the same ups and downs in life."
He didn't believe that after Gu Yihan gave birth, with no one to look after the child, Lu Huailin would still have all his attention on his wife as he does now.
Just as Lu Huailin was about to speak, his wife's stomach protested: "Gurgle, gurgle."
Gu Yihan was extremely embarrassed; she hadn't even had breakfast yet.
When Lu's mother came to her senses, she looked at Gu Yihan with concern and whispered, "Look, she's been so angry all morning that the whole family hasn't had breakfast yet."
After saying that, she ran to the kitchen to start making breakfast. Gu Yihan couldn't bear to see Lu's mother working alone, so she got up and followed her.
Lu's mother was kneading dough when she heard the noise and turned around to find her youngest daughter-in-law.
While working, he muttered, "Xiao Han, I'm sorry to have troubled you."
Gu Yihan took a small piece of dough from the basin and kneaded it.
He smiled at Lu's mother and said, "Mom, you're being too polite."
"Why haven't I seen Aunt He?" Gu Yihan asked in confusion.
Feeling that the dough was almost ready, Lu's mother picked up the rolling pin and said, "Isn't today the New Year? Let her go home and be with her family."
Gu Yihan gave a soft "hmm".
In the living room
Mr. Lu looked at his two sons with a serious expression, sighed deeply, and said, "You've both gotten married, and you each have your own little thoughts now that you're married."
Brother Lu and Lu Huailin glanced at each other, then looked at their father together.
Mr. Lu looked directly into his older brother's eyes and said coldly, "Lin Xu, your factory has already allocated you a house."
"After the New Year, you can move into the house you were allocated."
Brother Lu looked at his father in disbelief, hardly able to believe his ears: "Dad, are you going to separate me from my family?"
“I still need to take care of you in your old age. I don’t feel comfortable leaving you and Mom if you move out.”
Father Lu looked at his eldest brother with sharp eyes, but his words were casual: "You are not qualified to take care of us in our old age."
"Your mother and I will be taken care of by the government in our old age."
Brother Lu: "..."
After speaking, Lu's father turned his gaze to Lu Huailin. This brat is lucky; he found a wife who has no burdens.
I know that my daughter-in-law's grandmother went to Kunming, so there will be someone to help out when the child is born.
This way, the children won't cause you to be overwhelmed and disrupt your relationship.
The eldest son probably wanted to see the younger son make a fool of himself, but he's likely to disappoint him.
Lu Huailin felt uneasy under his father's gaze and said irritably, "Dad, what kind of look is that? If you have something to say, just say it."
Mr. Lu glared at Lu Huailin and snorted coldly, "Huailin, you should have heard what I said to you."
Lu Huailin was speechless. How deaf would he have to be to not hear something at such a close distance? He replied perfunctorily, "Yeah, I heard it."
Mr. Lu didn't care about Lu Huailin's tone: "After your eldest brother moved out, it was equivalent to the family dividing up the property in disguise."
Lu Huailin hummed in agreement and nodded.
Father Lu stared intently at the two brothers, Lu Huailin and Lu Huailin: "We won't divide the family savings."
Lu Huailin casually agreed, "That's your own savings."
Brother Lu was momentarily stunned, which was noticed by his father.
He sneered, "You all have your own savings, and I gave you everything I was entitled to after the marriage."
Brother Lu thought of the box that his mother had given to Fang Yi, and he still hadn't seen what was inside.
Brother Lu glanced at Lu Huailin, then met his father's emotionless gaze, and hesitated to speak.
Mr. Lu frowned slightly and asked impatiently, "Just say what you have to say."
Finally, Brother Lu asked, "Dad, are the things Mom gave you the same as what your sister-in-law received?"
This infuriated Lu Huailin, who grabbed his elder brother's collar and demanded, "What do you mean by this? Are you implying that Mom is biased?"
Brother Lu slapped Lu Huailin's hand away and explained, "You misunderstood. I wanted to know what was in the box."
Lu Huailin let go of his hand and looked at his older brother, who looked like a fool. It had been 10 years, and he still didn't know what things were in the house.
Judging from his two sons' behavior, Mr. Lu knew that his eldest son probably hadn't seen anything at all.
"It's the same; the things in the box are what you've divided up in this family."
After finishing speaking, Mr. Lu described everything in the box.
The more Brother Lu listened, the more his clenched fists bulged with veins.
