Chapter 146 The Fang Family's Thoughts

Chapter 146 The Fang Family's Thoughts

Fangjia

Fang Yi raised an eyebrow, looking at the food on the table with disdain, picking and choosing.

Looking at Sister-in-law Fang who was busy at work, she said sarcastically, "Sister-in-law, it's only a rare New Year, what kind of dishes are you making? Are you trying to feed beggars?"

Even though Sister-in-law Fang felt pleased when she heard her sister-in-law's sarcastic remarks, she couldn't show it.

It's all because her sister-in-law married into a good family; even a little bit of money saved from their own pockets is enough for them to live on for a long time.

She smiled and placed a piece of meat in Fang Yi's bowl, saying softly, "Our family is not as good as yours; our wages are low, and we have fewer meat coupons."

"These meat and vegetables were made by my parents through frugality. Knowing that you are spending the New Year at your parents' home today, they specifically asked me to make more."

Fang Yi proudly picked up a piece of meat from the bowl and put it in her mouth; she loved being fawned over.

Fang's mother glared at her youngest daughter, Fang Yi, with a displeased expression, and said irritably, "If you don't like the food at home, go home and eat your own food."

Fang Yi's face stiffened, her eyes flickered, and she pretended to be angry, saying, "It's all because some country bumpkin came to our house. I'll go back as soon as she leaves."

Mr. Fang swallowed the rice in his mouth and said in a serious tone, "You are the eldest sister-in-law in the family. It's not good for your younger brother and sister-in-law to not be home on their first visit."

After Fang Yi was sent back to her parents' home, she was worried, but when she thought of her daughter Miaomiao, she felt relieved.

Lu Huaixu loves Miaomiao to the core, and he won't divorce her for the sake of the child.

Fang's mother sensed something was wrong and looked at Fang Yi with suspicion, asking, "Did you cause some trouble at the Lu family?"

Seeing everyone at the table looking at her, Fang Yi said impatiently, "Isn't it all because of my mother-in-law? She favors her youngest son."

"On the first day that country bumpkin arrived, my mother-in-law gave her a lot of good things."

Brother Fang, with his swollen eyes, squinted and said, "Little sister, are you crazy? You know your mother-in-law is biased, yet you still stay at home."

Fang's mother couldn't eat anymore; her heart ached terribly. Everything in Lu's family's possessions would eventually be inherited by her grandson.

If the son-in-law and daughter don't have a son, then they'll have to rely on their family to carry on the family business in their old age.

If we give all of these to others, won't our grandson have fewer things in the future?

Mr. Fang put down his chopsticks and picked up a cigarette to smoke. After a while, he looked up at Fang Yi.

He instructed Fang's mother, who was sitting beside him, "Take Fang Yi back to the Lu family. You will go with her to apologize to her in-laws later."

Fang Yi was unhappy. Although she had been sent back to her parents' home by Brother Lu, she didn't think she had done anything wrong.

If the mother-in-law comes to apologize, where will he put his own face?

Fang Yi angrily slammed down her chopsticks and stood up: "If you don't want me to eat, just say so."

After saying that, he put down the bowl, kicked the stool, and went back to his bedroom.

Seeing Fang Yi's actions, Fang's mother's face turned extremely ugly. She turned to Fang's father and said, "Old man, what do you think?"

Mr. Fang frowned and snorted coldly, "She's just scared and bluffing."

Fang's mother kept rubbing her hands, not wanting to go to the Lu family. She always felt that she was inferior to her in-laws, and that she had to register every time she went in and was questioned for a long time.

The two-story villa made their family look even more destitute, while others had nannies to cook for them.

Her family depended entirely on her to take care of the whole family, and every time she saw Lu's mother's living conditions, she couldn't help but feel jealous.

Looking at his wife's actions, Mr. Fang knew exactly what she was thinking: "You don't have to go if you don't want to, just wait for your son-in-law to divorce your youngest daughter."

Brother Fang stopped eating, wondering if his father was overthinking things: "Dad, aren't you making a big deal out of this?"

Mr. Fang glanced at his eldest brother and said, "If you want to benefit from the Lu family in the future, you'd better listen to me."

After saying that, he finished one cigarette and lit another: "Don't you even think about it? It's the New Year, how can a married daughter go back to her parents' home?"

After finishing her meal, Sister-in-law Fang whispered to Fang Jiye, who was still eating, "Go find your aunt and say some nice things. She'll definitely give you money and coupons to buy food."

Fang Jiye's eyes lit up. He nodded to Fang's sister-in-law, quickly finished the last bite of his meal, put down his chopsticks, and jogged away.

After cleaning up the dishes, Sister-in-law Fang returned to the living room and sat on the stool next to her mother: "Mom, my younger sister's marriage to Lu Huaixu has been a great help to our family."

“If the two of them can’t make it work, our family will be the one who suffers. Jiye is growing up and will need the Lu family’s help in the future.”

Fang's mother couldn't sit still any longer. She paced back and forth in the living room, looking at Fang's father and saying, "Old man, why don't you come with me?"

Mr. Fang raised his head and glared at Mrs. Fang: "It's all women's business. It's not appropriate for a grown man like me to get involved. When you go there, be a little softer on your in-laws."

Fang's mother felt a lump in her throat. She had never stood up straight in front of Lu's mother, so how could she possibly soften her stance?

"Thump, thump, thump."

Hearing the knock, Sister-in-law Fang stood up, muttering as she walked, "Who is it?"

"Sister-in-law, it's me."

Brother Lu's deep voice rang out.

Sister-in-law Fang was taken aback. She turned to look at her parents and gestured with her eyes, as if to ask, "Brother Lu is here? Could it be that they were mistaken?"

Mr. Fang's eyes were also filled with doubt, thinking that he had guessed wrong, so he quickly gestured for his sister-in-law to open the door.

Sister-in-law Fang opened the door with a smile and greeted him warmly, "Brother-in-law, come in quickly, come and pick up Fang Yi, I'll go call her."

Brother Lu walked into the Fang family's living room and glanced at the still-wet water stains on the dining table, knowing that they must have just finished eating not long ago.

He called out to Fang's sister-in-law, who was about to call Fang Yi, "Sister-in-law, I'm here to see you."

When the Fang family heard Brother Lu's words in the living room, their hearts skipped a beat, fearing that he would say he didn't want Fang Yi.

Mr. Fang's eyes darkened, and he forced a smile, "Looking for us?"

Brother Lu smiled at the Fang family: "Yes, the family has split up. I came to tell Brother Fang that we need to live in the house ourselves after the New Year."

Brother Fang was stunned and extremely displeased. His family had lived in that house for three years and had long considered it their own.

Father Fang glared at his elder brother, giving him a threatening look that signaled him not to speak.

He smiled at Brother Lu and said, "Son-in-law, don't worry, I'll have him vacate the house for you tomorrow."

When Fang's mother saw that Brother Lu hadn't asked about Fang Yi at all, she became extremely anxious.

She walked up to him and asked softly, "Son-in-law, today is the Lunar New Year, a day for family reunions."

"How about we let Fang Yi go back with you?"

Brother Lu smiled and shook his head: "Mom, let Fang Yi stay at her parents' house for a while."

Then, ignoring the glare from Brother Fang, he said to Father Fang, "Dad, I have something to do at home, so I'll head back now."

Without giving the other person a chance to stop her, she turned around, opened the door, and strode away.

Fang Yi heard Brother Lu's voice from inside the bedroom, so she immediately pressed her face against the bedroom door to listen to their conversation in the living room.

It wasn't until she could no longer hear anything that she realized, and a while later, that Brother Lu had actually left. Furious, she flung open the door and chased after him.
