"Baoni, you can stay here for now. If it gets cold in winter, have your dad and brother come over and build a kang (heated brick bed)." Lin's mother felt that these were not big issues. The key now was to tidy up the house and make it look like a place where people could live.
"I know, Mother. I was just asking. It's not cold yet, so we'll talk about it later." Bao Ni felt that sleeping on a heated kang in winter was more comfortable. She would ask her father to build a heated kang for her after she got married and wasn't so busy anymore.
"Does the baggage unit also issue luggage?" Lin's mother asked Gu Ye.
"The logistics department has it. I'll go get the baggage ticket and retrieve it for you in a bit." Gu Ye had the baggage ticket in his pocket, and after saying that, he turned and went to the logistics department.
"After tidying it up, it actually looks quite proper. The army is really good; they provide everything," Lin's mother remarked, looking at the room full of things.

Everything in the house is tidied up, except for some bed sheets, curtains, and the like. I need to buy fabric and have those made.
"Comrade Lin Baoni, take this money and these tickets. See if you need anything else. Ask your aunt to help prepare it. I don't know much about it. My older brother will arrive in a couple of days." Gu Ye handed Baoni a stack of money and tickets, which looked like quite a lot.
Bonnie didn't refuse and took it. This would be their shared home from now on, and they would both have to contribute.
There's not much else to do today. Bonnie and Lin's mother plan to go home. Tomorrow they'll have to leave the island for the city, as there are some things that aren't available on the island.
Gu Ye saw Bao Ni and Lin's mother out of the military family compound before turning back to the barracks. He remembered what Xiao Chaoyang had said.
