Chapter 193 Bonnie the Detective

Liu Jiu and San Qi parted ways with their friends to go home for dinner.

"Mommy, I'm hungry, what do you want to eat?" Liu Jiu was sweating profusely from playing, her short hair was soaked through; she sweats so much.

In contrast, Sanqi didn't sweat much and remained clean and fresh. Since turning two years old, Sanqi's little obsession with cleanliness has become apparent; he is particularly fond of cleanliness.

"I've already cut the noodles for the cold noodles, just waiting for you to come back and cook them. I also boiled some corn and sent some to Grandma and the others, and I also brought back some of Grandma's pickled green bean sauce." Bao Ni looked at the two siblings' obviously happier faces, and felt helpless. She wasn't a good cook, but there was nothing she could do; she had tried her best!

"Mom, let me tell you, there was a strange auntie who kept trying to get close to us and even tried to bribe us with candy. We are revolutionary fighters, how could we be fooled by her sugar-coated bullets? She underestimates us!"

Liu Jiu remembered that aunt and quickly told her mother about it.

"Tiedan wants to eat!" Sanqi complained, "Tiedan is too greedy!"

It wasn't that Tiedan was too greedy; it was just that children at that age didn't have many treats. Being able to eat a piece of candy was a great happiness. Liujiu and Sanqi, on the other hand, had no shortage of snacks. Aunt Gu would send them several packages a year, containing food and other necessities.

Lin Tao would also send things to Bao Ni; he wouldn't forget that Bao Ni had helped him get his chance to join the army. Lin Hui and Lin Bo, too, remembered Bao Ni's kindness and sent food to Liu Jiu and San Qi every year. Later, with Uncle Lin's occasional feedings, Liu Jiu and San Qi became less concerned about food.

"Liu Jiu, tell Mom, what kind of aunties give you candy?" Bonnie found it quite strange; the women in the family compound wouldn't give candy to the children for no reason.

"She said she lived in the third row from the back, told us to call her Aunt Qi, and wanted us to bring her daughter Wang Yingying to play with us. She also asked us whose family we were?" Liu Jiu's memory and language skills are quite good, and she basically recreated the conversation at that time.

Bao Ni thought for a moment and realized, "Isn't this Political Commissar Wang's new wife? Her name is Qi Meifeng, yes, that's her name."

Bonnie hadn't been paying much attention to her lately, but now she's popping up again to get noticed, so she can't help but notice her.

"Six-nine, three-seven, Mom is telling you, stay away from that auntie from now on, okay?" Bonnie couldn't explain either, and there was no evidence to prove that she was a bad person.

"Okay, Mom." Liu Jiu thought her mother was right; that aunt was strange.

Bonnie made a mental note of this and began to pay close attention to Qi Meifeng. If you dare to reach out, you should be prepared to get caught.

Qi Meifeng was helpless. She had searched all over the island and all the places where they used to meet, but she couldn't find any information about him.

A day later, Bao Ni sent the child to her parents' house, thinking that she should focus on Qi Meifeng in the next few days.

From afar, she saw Qi Meifeng heading towards the beach again. Bao Ni didn't have time to go back to get her things, so she quickly followed her.

When they passed by the seaweed farming base, Bao Ni saw Han Weidong and Zhou Chen. She called them over and asked them to take baskets and machetes and come with her.

"Sister Bonnie, what's wrong? You look like you're making a secret meeting." Zhou Chen found it strange that Sister Bonnie was acting so suspiciously.

"See that woman up ahead? She's one of the women from our family compound. She's kind of strange; I always felt like she wasn't a good person. I followed her here." As soon as Bao Ni said that, Han Weidong and the other man understood. They both grew up in military compounds, so they had that much awareness.

The three of them followed at a distance, watching Qi Meifeng walk towards the reefs. Perhaps she was in too much of a hurry, because she didn't turn around. The three of them followed her quite smoothly.

"Sister Baoni, she's gone." Han Weidong looked at the vanished woman, unsure of what to do next.

"She might have been hiding among the rocks last time. Let's approach slowly. If we're spotted, we'll pretend to be looking for seafood and not alert her."

Bonnie whispered, "Observe her first and see what she's going to do."

Bonnie and her two friends, carrying baskets and machetes, slowly approached the rocky outcrops.

Qi Meifeng had disappeared into some unknown hole. Bao Ni and the others cautiously explored the area. The reef area was quite vast, with many strange rocks, and it was easy to get separated if they weren't careful.

They were as careful as possible, making no sound, and listening intently for any voices.

The three of them moved along the rocks like geckos, and surprisingly, they actually discovered a clue.

"Shh, there's a sound." Bonnie gestured for them to look over, then lay down on the rocks. They could vaguely hear voices coming from below.

"Slow down, Sister Bonnie, I heard it, a man and a woman." Han Weidong heard it quite clearly; his hearing has always been good.

The three of them found a secluded spot, carefully hid themselves, and tried to hear what the other people were saying.

"Why haven't you contacted me for so long? What happened? I'm so worried!"

Qi Meifeng looked at Shi Jintang in front of her, with a bunch of questions that needed to be answered, and she was extremely anxious.

"Was anyone with you when you came here? Was it safe?"

Shi Jintang seemed oblivious to Qi Meifeng's anxiety; he was more concerned about whether Qi Meifeng's secret had been exposed.

"Nobody comes to the beach at this time. I came as soon as I got your message, and nobody saw me." Qi Meifeng rushed over as soon as she received the message, afraid that Shi Jintang would disappear again. She didn't notice anyone following her. There was no one else at the gate when she left the family compound.

"This is the mission. Once it's completed, we can leave."

Shi Jintang handed a note to Qi Meifeng, telling her to read it and then destroy it.

"Where are we going?" Qi Meifeng was a little confused.

"Go to the other side, where else can we go? Our family is all over there!" Shi Jintang felt that this woman was getting less and less intelligent, spending all her time on love and romance.

"Huh? Can we go now?" Qi Meifeng was a little surprised. She was actually a bit worried because that place was a bit far away for her.

"Alright, you go out first, I'll go out in a bit. Remember, be careful." Shi Jintang reminded him worriedly. There was nothing they could do; they didn't have many men left.

Qi Meifeng came out, looked back once, and then walked back to the family compound without looking back.

Bonnie and the other two didn't move an inch. They couldn't be discovered, or they'd be doomed. They scurried even further into the gap.

More than ten minutes later, they heard footsteps. The three of them, including Bonnie, didn't dare to peek out and waited for the person to walk away.

Hearing the footsteps heading towards the sea, Bonnie and the others waited a while longer before cautiously peeking out and slowly moving towards the shore. In the distance, a small boat had already sailed far away, and the people on board could no longer be seen.

"Oh my god, this is so exciting! I'm all sweaty. This is the first time I've ever done this."

Zhou Chen wiped the sweat from his forehead. Really, he had been so inconsiderate.

"Alright, we need to go back now. We need to tell the military about this. We don't know what their mission is or how to carry it out. The military has its own procedures."

Bonnie took Han Weidong and the other man to the military base to find Gu Ye; this matter should not be made public.
