That's because the Lin family's house-building skills, especially their seaweed house-building skills, have been passed down from generation to generation and are famous far and wide.
Thanks to this skill, the Lin family has always lived well on this island.
As for studying, that was Lin's father's insistence.
Because of his low level of education, when the factory was hiring, the opportunity was taken by someone with a higher level of education, a regret he still feels to this day.
After his children were born one after another, no matter how difficult it was, he insisted on sending them to school, and how far they could go depended on their own abilities.
Brother Lin graduated from junior high school but failed the high school entrance exam. He was a good temporary worker and was about to be promoted to a permanent position when he was replaced by someone with connections.
Not wanting to stay outside any longer, they went back to the island.
My second brother didn't like studying. After finally graduating from junior high school, he always wanted to join the army.
Two years ago, when a spot finally became available, he and another brother from the same clan passed the physical fitness and political review. However, there was only one spot available, and Lin's father decided to let the other brother go because he was an orphan.
"Baoni, your dad and the others are back." Lin's mother's voice interrupted Baoni's thoughts, and she pushed open the door and went out.
Outside, a man in his forties with a short buzz cut, a dark face, and a sturdy build stood out. This was Lin's father, Bonnie's dad.
"Dad, you're back. Have you sent all the fish away?" Bonnie asked her father naturally.
"They've sent her away. Is our Bonnie alright?" Lin's father was still shaken. When their boat was still some distance from the coastline, Bonnie suddenly shouted, "Dad, there's someone in the sea. It looks like a People's Liberation Army soldier."
Their fishing boat wasn't very big, and Bonnie lay on the stern, idly watching the sea.
"Where is it? Where is it?" Lin's father asked as he ran over.
It really was just one person; from a distance, it looked like he was wearing military uniform.
"We have to find a way to rescue them! They're People's Liberation Army comrades!" Lin's father muttered anxiously to himself.
However, the waves were too big, and their boat couldn't get close. It looked like the PLA comrades were about to be swept away by the waves.
"thump."
To everyone's surprise, Bonnie jumped in and quickly swam to the PLA comrade, successfully grabbing him.
Before they could even feel happy, a huge wave swept them both away.
Mr. Lin was terrified. If anything happened to Bao Ni, how would his family survive?
"I'm going down."
"I'm going down."
Both Lin's eldest and second eldest brothers wanted to go down to save their sister, but Lin's father stopped them.
Bonnie is the best swimmer in the area; it would be pointless for them to go down there.
"Uncle, Bonnie and the others were swept towards the shore by the waves."
The sharp-eyed Lin Shu saw a black dot in the distance and called him "Uncle," pointing to that spot.
"Where? Where?" Lin's father looked anxiously in the direction he was pointing, and sure enough, it was there.
"Let's go, let's drive that way."
Lin's father believed in Bonnie's abilities and rushed towards the shore, so there was basically nothing serious happening to her.
As their ship gave chase, a military vessel also caught up from behind.
"Fellow villagers, have you seen the soldier who fell into the water?" The People's Liberation Army soldiers on the boat shouted as they approached their fishing boat.
"Yes, my daughter jumped in to save someone, but was swept towards the shore by a big wave," Mr. Lin quickly replied, adding that their boat was much faster than his own fishing boat.
"Understood, fellow villager, we'll go with them, goodbye." The PLA soldiers on the boat received a definite answer and hurried off to rescue the people.
Mr. Lin still feels lingering fear when he thinks about the scene of Bonnie being swept away by the huge wave.
Fortunately, Bonnie was lucky and returned safely!
